Mangetsu Castle in Tanba Province got attacked by Nobushi Akakaki Genbu after the Onin war. The lord of the castle commits suicide. The chief retainer Kamigetsu Umon and his child Sagenta escape in the turmoil. The lord of the castle has two sons, Hagimaru and Kikumaru, that were studying abroad in the Ming dynasty. They reunited with Umon. Hagimaru, who vowed revenge but disliked fighting, sneaked into Mangetsu Castle with Umon and was caught in the hands of Akakaki Genba.
