honestly this is what i think
this part were like a little repeat reversed and re-do of part 1 at episode 8. i was a fan from part 1. i don't mind however this story ends. honestly i felt like the story were forced to have part 2. i find that it was true because of the re-re-re thing... but i'm glad they did part 2 because this is the only korean drama that i waited by the hour. it was that good to me. well, its simple enough, its mysterious a bit, exciting, makes your heart race too, make you be jealous, makes you angry and a lot more else... so for conclusion, the actors must be top tiers because of the feeling i got, and the writer were good too.. though some part makes me really upset, i just want to believe that it was done deliberately...Was this review helpful to you?
Inferior to Season 1, but an ending quite a worth
Set 3 years later after the finale of Season 1, Season 2 starts slowly and brings all the characters back to the game. There are very few fantasy shows which make you invest in characters, and season 2 fits this description.Although the second season starts sluggish with everything that kinda replicates the first season, the last 3-4 episodes bring the real excitement and closure, with which I am pretty much satisfied. What still works for this fantasy drama is the star cast, the chemistry between characters and how magic is used to weave a tale of ambition, dreams, love and kingdom. What perhaps could have been better was a climax full of action. But again, the makers opted for a rather happy ending. Personally, the latter is inferior when compared to its predecessor, but all ends that ends well.
My Rating : 8.5/10

Could've done better
I didn't want to write a review cause I loved the drama but I had a lot to say still.Everything is good. Everything was going well until Ep7. That's when everyone on the set of AOS 2 understood that they had only three more episodes and they still haven't revealed anything.
10 episodes were more than enough with the run time but it still made us feel that the ending was rushed. In the last three eps, things were revealed in a magnitude of seconds. And the ending? the climax? lasted barely minutes that we couldn't even remember. It wasn't a nice gift with a Tiffany's & Co. bow tied to it but an express gift card that your uncle bought last minute cause he forget to get you a present on New Year's.
And the actress switch.
I understand that you want JSM back cause yall love her but i really don't understand why GYJ received hate. It's not like her acting is bad. You've got to give chances to new actresses.
But then some of you ask, "Was the switch necessary?"
Yes. It was and it is. It showed that they were destined to be with each other even if they can't recognize each other. And also the fact that it was Mu-doek's face that he was seeing, not her face. he never saw her before. Now he sees her completely.
Even tho the ending was rushed, the drama delivered what it was supposed to deliver. Mid-way I lost hope and was gearing up for another Scarlet Heart Ryeo. But the heavens heard the viewers. So no complaints.
Except for this one, thats all I promise.
I got Seo Yul's face and all my issues are gone.

storia fantasy molto bella!

It is good but for me first season was best
Both season has good story line but for me the first season was the better one.I recommended this to my friends as well and they really like it.
The visuals in the series also seems very professional and international there is no doubts that these kdrama are making the expectations bars so high for the viewers.
Also you see the importance of every relationship in your life in this drama, the relation between two friends, teacher and student, mentor and student it is defined in a very realistic way.????

Even better Well-paced than the First Season with Back to back Intriguing plots!!
I didn't wanted to waste time writing a long one but I think it will be useful for future viewers so here we go...People are criticising Go Yoonjung but I think they didn't carefully reviewed her character and the circumstance her character was set in. Go yoonjung perfectly picked up the Naksu's character that Jung somin had created and left, just keep in mind that due to special circumstances naksu's character is like that of a person she was before getting exploited by jin mu. I heard this advice and it was so fun to watch her acing the character. She perfectly carried the flow of Naksu's character in the right amount, since she was now also carrying the duty to carry out the character of a priestess. She lost all her memories so giving her mudeok's heavy elements means she remembers all her tough times while training, and killing people. But since that cannot happen, they give her features of cho yeong (the child who held the hand of jin mu not crying even when she saw her father dying before her). An innocent, curious and bold child, who likes to have her way and is willing to play tricks every now and then. Its perfectly fine if she appears as a 3rd person, like cho yeong, since she is not naksu anymore nor mudeok, she only has those personality traits. she forgot everthing and is now making new memories with jang Uk, so she appears both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
I got goosebumps while seeing how Go yoonjung even picked up the habits of her character that Jung so min created, the same way of speaking and making that face , and calling "jang uk". No one can recreate a character so perfectly as she did. I'm beyond impressed.
This drama was really perfect. I even liked it better than the first season. First season had some filler episodes but I'm glad that they made this season well-paced. There was always something intriguing to look forward to in the next episode in S2. The story kept being tight from start to finish. The script was really good. They created many interesting theories and then unveiled them to the viewers nicely. This season really filled a lot of plot holes for 1st season. This season deserves higher rating than the previous one for me.
It's been a long time since a drama made me tear-up. I felt the sadness and bittersweet fate they had so deeply that it ached my heart when this only just a fictional story. All the actors did a wonderful job. It really is a thing to ponder over, how both ML and FL had such a bitter fate.
Jang Uk: He had to suffer from his gate of energy being sealed by his father, he had to live among hurtful rumours , lost both his parents, had to experience numerous life-death situation while training to finally reach Chisu, lost his only precious love by getting stabbed, had to suffer the consequences of having ice-stone within him, facing wraiths everytime, and now again fear of losing his love and so on.
Naksu: Had to see her family die, train hard till death, lived alone all his life in seclusion, had to kill numerous in the pretence of avenging her father, lost all her powers, trapped inside a weak body, got betrayed by Jin Mu who she thought was helping, lost his love, had to kill herself, had to maintain distance from Jang Uk again when she knew she could again not be with him, etc
Also, I'm glad that the crown prince got to be the king, he is the best king the country of Daeho could ever get. He is greedy but not enough to harm his own people. He knows when to stop his greed, and that the powerful ain't always an enemy but an ally. Jang Uk is better off a powerful person who wants to protect his loved ones. But Go Won knows that marriage and bride is not in his control, and that all that is a responsibility. jang Uk is a free person so I'm glad that he remained free and unbothered by these worldly material things like owning the throne. Crown prince is rather perfectly balanced to be the king than his father or mother ( both the soul shifter shaman, and his biological mother), Both his parents were foolishly greedy but he knows when to back down before things go out of control.
I'll forever remember this classic masterpiece!! I hope people take this drama as one of the top ones that all future generations gonna watch

Pay attention
In the 1 st series we have a female warrior/master who pretends to be a maidservant. Her pupil is besotted and through great effort gains sufficient skills to be praised by her and along the way falls in love.In this 2nd season our two lovers (due to plot contrivance) do not recognise each other for the majority of the 10 sessions. ML is now a bad ass with unlimited power and FL is a weakened female locked away by her self-serving mother.
Characters from 1st series abound and there is a thread of humour peppered throughout that was not part of the 1st series. Special mention of the black turtle and Park Jin's cooking. Lots of CGI special effects and a great many characters all acting in their own best interests to the extent that from a Wuxia drama it became a melodrama.
What also stood out for me was how the modern element crept in. From short hair to some language idioms, and the Fl was was definitely channeling a modern woman at times.
I found this entertaining and if I ever rewatch the 1st series I will probably rewatch this as well.
Actors all did a great job and production was very elaborate but I feel the Hong sisters needed to keep the themes and flavour of their brilliant 1st series.

watched weekly as it came out
LOVED the first season / part and was super excited for this one as well!! the main actress change didnt bother me and i love yoonjung sm the change made sense and the overall romance between the leads & chemistry was off the charts i hope we see them in another project together hopefully.. ?,, for 10 eps the pacing done really well, rarely slow and i would have liked jang uk to realize buyeon’s real identity just a bit sooner but no complaints ? that last ep was definitely the SADDEST. just the thought that kim doju and park jim could’ve died breaks my heart ❤️? but they didnt die and naksu’s soul is still alive so we thank the hong sisters for that ? im seriously going to miss this show i did not expect to love it so much but the things we dont pay too much attention to at first soon are cherished! this drama was my personality for months and now you’re telling to find something else?!? ? anyways 10/10 acting & ost we love you blue flower by lia ❤️Was this review helpful to you?

How to rate a drama where the first part had me at the edge of my seat, while the second part almost lulled me to sleep? Hence my dilemma with Alchemy of Souls. I wasn’t sure where part two went wrong, or was it because part one was so amazing, it was hard to replicate the same excitement when I watched it?The bad of Part 2:
- Though the leads are physically attractive, Jang Uk and Bu Yeon didn’t have the same spark as Jang Uk and Mu Deok.
- The pacing in this one dragged endlessly despite its short length. They spent more time wallowing than fighting.
- All this soul-shifting back and forth, like jumping from one body to the next, that defies the laws of fictional logic? How can the drama just explain away why in this instance, it’s okay to shift, but in that instance it’s not? I can’t keep up anymore with whose body belongs to which soul and whose soul is now inside which body.
- As for the secondary characters, it looked like everyone was just there for the sake of being there and going through the motions. You know which character that caught my interest? The god-damn turtle!
- And all the reminiscing. What’s the point? Am I supposed to believe that Jang Uk grew fond of Bu Yeon, because she’s Bu Yeon, or because she exhibits Naksu’s mannerisms and thoughts?
Part 2 Verdict: A shadow of Part 1. (8 out of 10)
Combined score: 9 out of 10.
Overall impression: Should have stopped at Part 1.
