In 2008, Kawase visits Amami Oshima, an island in southern Japan, in search of her ancestry. Growing up unaware of her birth mother, Kawase is moved by the friendly hospitality of her islanders, and gradually gives her heart away. It was the summer of 2003 when she was starting her new life that she was told by her grandmother that she was born in Amami.
