A Small Town Romance With Quirky Characters

JTBC’s latest offering “Welcome to Samdalri” is a decades long saga of friendship, lost love and reconciliation. Starring Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun in the lead roles of Cho Yong Pil & Cho Sam Dal/Cho Eun Hye, the show transverses their journey as they reconnect after eight years of separation. The first thing that I noticed about this show is the scenic beauty. Shot in the backdrop of the beautiful Jeju island, the show banks on the small town life and its busy yet nosy neighborhood. Set in Samdalri (which is native to both Cho Yong Pil & Cho Sam Dal), the drama focuses on their reconciliation as Sam-dal returns to her hometown when her career plummets and she is at her wit’s end. The pilot episodes were pretty decent at introducing the individual characters and their current lives while keeping their past shredded in mystery. There is a lot going on in the backdrop that we are unaware of and these invisible issues have been adversely affecting their relationship for almost a decade. Let’s sit down and dissect the finer details relative to this small town romance!

The FL character is so problematic

Seriously the way the FL character is portrayed 6 episodes in is so problematic. I dont know if I should continue watching this until the end or just drop this right now. It is hard to accept that someone who worked her ass off to make a name for herself will just sit down and play the victim when she had every opportunity and resources to fight back. If its the mental health card that the scriptwriter is playing, it kinda feels unrealistic for me. Thankfully I find the characters around the FL entertaining - the male friend who owns the store, the niece, the gossiping ajummas.

Romantic series "2nd chance" and "return to the countryside", with Ji Chang Wok & Shin Hye Sun.

PLOT: FL, a renowned photographer, returns home to Jeju with her sisters, to escape a scandal. There she finds the ML, her childhood friend - ex lover, who will help her face the situation.

PROS:
+ 2 great leads for the CL: Ji Chang Wok & Shin Hye Sun.
+ endearing characters, fairly well described (but a little one-dimensional).
+ a magnificent setting which highlights the island, its culture, its values.
+ “relatively” realistic story.
+ Dynamic production, but the plot is simple and the rhythm is slow at times.
+ This series aims to be feel-good, with a light and “comedy” tone.

CONS:
- the characters lack depth.
- the narration is sometimes slow, which does not make the series addictive.
- Some narrative arcs are not credible: I am willing to believe that the media have a significant influence in some industries, but the fact that journalists are unleashed on a popular photographer based on a simple denunciation? The fact that they arrive in force for a small exhibition in the lobby of a remote weather station?? Seriously ?? The FL could solve everything by simply telling the truth about her ex's betrayal with her assistant. Why did she never say anything?

=> The series is nice, light, and it's an opportunity to see JCW, but it won't go down in history...

Série romantique "2e chance" et "retour à la campagne", avec Ji Chang Wok & Shin Hye Sun.

PLOT: la FL, photographe renommée, rentre chez elle à Jeju avec ses sœurs, pour fuir un scandale. Elle y retrouve le ML, son alter ego (ami d'enfance - ex lover) qui va l'aider à affronter la situation.

PROS:
+ 2 super leads pour le CL : Ji Chang Wok & Shin Hye Sun.
+ des personnages attachants, assez bien décrits (mais un peu unidimensionnels).
+ un cadre magnifique qui met en valeur l'ile, sa culture, ses valeurs.
+ story "relativement" réaliste.
+ Réalisation dynamique, mais l'intrigue est simple et le rythme connait des longueurs par moments.
+ Cette série se veut feel-good, avec un ton léger et "comédie".

CONS:
- les personnages manquent de profondeur.
- la narration est parfois lente, ce qui ne rend pas la série addictive.
- certains arcs narratifs ne sont pas crédibles : je veux bien que les médias aient un poids important dans certaines industries, mais que les journalistes se déchainent sur un photographe en vogue sur une simple dénonciation ? qu'ils débarquent en force pour une petite expo dans le hall d'une station météo reculée ?? La FL pouvait tout résoudre en disant simplement la vérité à propos de la trahison de son ex avec son assistante. Pourquoi n'a-t-elle jamais rien dit ?

=> La série est sympa, permet de voir JCW, mais elle ne restera pas dans les annales...

Un cast sprecato per un drama piatto e superfluo

Quando ho letto di questo drama poco prima che iniziasse ad andare in onda, qualche perplessità già ce l'avevo. La trama sembrava già mancare di sostanza. Però c'era Ji Chang Wook, attore che apprezzo moltissimo, e speravo davvero di ricredermi, magari già dopo i primi episodi. E invece...
Invece no.
Qualche nota positiva c'è, e a volte è contemporaneamente negativa. Se da una parte l'ambientazione è diversa dai soliti drama, alla lunga stufa. E 16 episodio sono lunghi da trascorrere tra immersioni subacquee, previsioni meteo e i cortili di un piccolo paesino. Se Seul rappresenta la frenesia, Samdal-ri è un luogo placido e tranquillo, molto placido e molto tranquillo. Senza pretese, con il suo piccolo, ripetitivo e ordinario quieto vivere.
La trama ruota attorno al ritorno di Sam dal, autoesiliatasi per anni a Seul, e ora pronta a partire alla riscoperta di sé stessa. In realtà, il suo personaggio non mostra una particolare evoluzione e ciò che costituisce l'ostacolo che la coppia protagonista deve fronteggiare sono sostanzialmente il padre di lui, ostile alla relazione e in balia di un lutto che non riesce a superare, e la madre di lei, che con la sua boa a fiori tiene sostanzialmente ancorato Cho Yong-pil all'isola. Tutto qua.
Tasto dolente è proprio lui Yong pil: un personaggio inconsistente, un bravo ragazzo così esagerato da risultare tonto, più che sincero e genuino. Ed è stato davvero un colpo basso vedere un attore con il potenziale di Ji Chang Wook sprecato - e sottolineo sprecato - in un ruolo/drama che offre davvero così poco. Un attore tra i miei preferiti, ma i cui capolavori come Healer, K2 e Suspicious Partner sembrano ormai vecchi ricordi se paragonati agli ultimi lavori, dove finisce a rivestire i panni di protagonisti poco performanti in drama costruiti su sceneggiature che sembrano fin da subito non voler lasciare il minimo segno. Al contrario, ho apprezzato l'attore che interpretava il padre di Yong-pil, e anche la madre di Sam-dal (la mitica e indimenticabile Ahjumma di Healer).
La serie, dicevo, procede con quelli che vorrebbero essere dei piccoli colpi di scena ma che in realtà trasmettono ben poco, e si avvia verso un finale che lascia ancora qualche flebile speranza di veder decollare qualcosa, per poter dire che tutto sommato ne è valsa la pena di vederlo, tra alti e bassi. E invece no, nemmeno quello. L'ultimo episodio, se possibile, riesce solo a peggiorare la situazione: la tanto attesa mostra di Sam-dal si risolve in modo quasi frettoloso, certo i soggetti delle foto erano scontati, ma confidavo almeno in qualcosa di più toccante - mi sono chiesta per molte puntate che fine avrebbe fatto quel filo rosso, e invece è tornato ad essere una banale sciarpa inquadrata quasi per caso per una manciata di secondi - e gli stessi protagonisti e personaggi secondari sembrano non averla vissuta, figuriamoci chi sta dall'altra parte dello schermo e dovrebbe emozionarsi per riflesso. La puntata finale si consuma, minuto dopo minuto, nell'attesa di qualcosa che non ci sarà: le varie coppie si ritagliano una fetta dell'episodio per concludere le singole vicende, e ai protagonisti non resta che una breve, brevissima scena a dir poco insulsa. E sembra uno scherzo di cattivo gusto, ma lo spettatore a una certa non può che rassegnarsi al fatto che no, non c'è davvero nient'altro. E' tutto lì. Insipido e sbrigativo.
Qualcosa di apprezzabile, qua e là, c'è. Qualche spunto, qualche riflessione, qualcosa c'è. Ma è un qualcosa che doveva fare da perno centrale, mentre invece restano piccoli momenti che emergono da una trama spesso soporifera. Un drama superfluo, del quale non si sentiva la mancanza.

Dua orang manusia yang telah putus cinta kembali bertemu selepas 18 tahun. Masing2 masih mempunyai rasa cinta tetapi permainan tarik tali berlarutan sehingga hampir semua episod dan membuat penonton rasa bosan serta hilang minat. Lalu perlu apa watak bu sang do jika memang tiada peluang dari awal. Saya terpaksa skip scene samdal dan yong pil kerana ia amat membosankan. Anehnya saya masih tidak ketinggalan apa2 cerita kerana scene yg di skip tidak memberi apa2 impak pun.

Drama ini hanya sesuai dijadikan drama 8 episod. Plot yang mendatar dan tidak berkembang serta berulang. Tumpuan hanya semata2 kepada ml dan fl. Dari minat terus tidak minat

Power Rangers

Amo a vibe de Jeju, sempre assisto dramas que ocorrem na ilha e amei todos! O relacionamento da Sam Dal com o Yong Pil é muito lindo e divertido, vibrei muito por eles! Mas uma das coisas que mais amei foi a dinâmica dos amigos, os power rangers, todos uns queridos, mesmo com "triangulo amoroso" não atrapalhou na história e nem foi chato. As irmãs são umas queridas, o relacionamento entre elas mostrado de uma maneira bem real haha. O casal golfinho simplesmente perfeitos!

Te amo Baekhyun de Jeju ?

Que delicinha de drama! Me lembrou muito a vibe de Hometown Cha Cha Cha que foi um drama muito querido por mim na época e eu estava buscando algo parecido há meses. Gosto muito de exes to lovers, acho que as pessoas precisam abrir mais o coração pra esse tipo de enredo e Welcome do Samdalri é um ótimo conteúdo para fazer isso. Amei os personagens e a complexidade do término deles. Os personagens secundários são ótimos também, principalmente os amigos de Jeju que tiveram suas histórias contadas e me fizeram gostar muito de cada um deles. AMEI o jeito como a história da Samdal e do Sangdo foi contada e como terminou. Achei de uma sensibilidade e verossimilidade incrível. Amei também o fato que eu passei o drama todo vendo o Baekhyun no ator do Yongpil!

quel dommage !

Mettre des acteurs exceptionnels comme Ji Chang Wook et Shin Hye Sun ne fait hélas pas forcément un bon résultat ! La mise en place de la série démarre quand même par 3 soeurs entre 30 et 40 ans, dont une avec un enfant, et qui habitent ensemble bien qu'elles aient de l'argent ... Du coté de l'acteur principal, idem, il a quasi 40 ans mais habite seul avec son père ... On comprend le très faible taux de natalité de la Corée , le plus faible au monde ... S'ensuit l'intrigue, simple, un enregistrement et une accusation de harcèlement, et les 3 soeurs repartent sur l'ile de Jeju... Ensuite on retrouve tous les ingrédients bien lourds de certaines romcom : les parents pénibles, les voisins ultra-pénibles, l'actrice principale qui passe son temps à (aux choix) : se cacher, pleurer, taper l'acteur principal, crier ... Heureusement il y a de très beaux paysages de l'ile de Jeju, et cela fait toujours plaisir de voir Ji Chang Wook et Shin Hye Sun.
De bons produits ne font pas de bons plats, la recette et la cuisson doivent être bonnes ! Dommage

RESEÑA <3

No me pude enamorar más de los personajes y de la historia. Según iban pasando los capítulos, más pena me daba de que se acabara, y ahora de solo pensar en ella, me emociono. Estoy muy segura de que lo volveré a ver en algún otro momento.
Esta serie me va a dejar huella, y se a convertido en una de los mejores K-drama que he visto este febrero de 2024.

Cada personaje tiene sus cosas.
Yong- Pil es un personaje especial.
Me sentí identificada con Sam-Dal, por el hecho de querer hacer fotografía y estar orgullosa de sus exposiciones.
Las hermanas tienen una unión muy bonita.
La gente del pueblo es verdaderamente fantástica.
Los padres de las dos familias...
Todos ellos se ganaron mi cariño desde el principio.

La verdad, no puedo decir nada malo sobre ello.

Salah Satu Drama healing terbaik untuk mengawali tahun 2024

Jajaran Cast yang bagus, Sutradara yang berpengalaman dan ScreenWriter yang sudah mendulang sukses di drama drama sebelumnya dan dieksekusi dengan apik menjadikan drama ini jadi salah satu drama yang istimewa.
Drama ini membawa kesan-kesan nostalgia "when the camellia blooms" bukan hanya saja lokasinya yang mirip pinggir pantai, tapi juga kebersamaan tetangga tetangganya yang suka julid tapi sangat peduli satu sama lain.
akting dari para pemain yang sangat baik dan totalitas.
chemistry yang dibangun antara samdal dan yong pil bener bener klop abis.
bukan hanya itu, tapi persahabatan yang dibangun sejak kecil bersama ketiga temannya yg lain,
hubungan ketiga saudara perempuan dan keluarganya juga dikemas dengan sangat baik.
bahkan hubungan antara ibu dan anaknya jujur sangat amat bagus disini, amazed sekali.
anak sekecil itu dapat memaikan peran sangat baik, benar benar mirip dengan Pil Go di when the camellia blooms dimana seorang anak dipaksa menjadi dewasa.
Bukan hanya jalan ceritanya yang bagus, Soundtrack lagu pengisinya pun enak enak didengar.
Menjadi Drama yang sangat amat wajib masuk watchlist bagi yang belum menonton.

Anfangs meh, Der Rest supi :)

Die ersten 4 Folgen oder so, haben mich manchmal echt wütend gemacht und haben mir auch einfach nicht gefallen.
Es wurde einfach so vieles getan, was ich nicht tun würde, Sam-Dal hat sich so komisch verhalten und es hat mir einfach weh getan.

Aber, ab dem Punkt, an dem sie sich mit ihren alten Freunden wieder verstanden hat, hat es mir gefallen.
Die neben Geschichten von ihren Schwestern fand ich auch sehr interessant. Vor allem von Hae-Dal. Die Story mit dem Delphin Mann und ihrer Tochter fand ich super und hätte gerne mehr davon gesehen.

Auch das Ende, warum Hat Yongpil nicht einfach die Bilder geholt, warum musste Samdal auch dabei sein?
Und Yongpils Vater, hat mich einfach ein wenig wütend gemacht, wie ein Mensch so sein kann. Aber süß, wie er seine Meinung geändert hat und jetzt auch mit den Eltern von Samdal wieder zusammen ist.
