Lee Ja Gyeom, a villainous retainer, confines officials in the opposing party to be in power. Choe Tak and his crowd learn the truth, planning to get rid of Lee. But Lee poisons the king, sits Injong in king's chair as his puppet, and tries to accuse Choe of wrong charges. Choe realizes this, and orders his close aide to bring the beheaded head of Choe to Lee to buy his trust. Choe's aide does what he tells him, and succeeds in buying Lee's trust.
