The Great Promise of an Empty Series.
The premise is simple, and really repetitive these days where there is the murder of a student, the sibling or friend show up at school afterwards and try to find out what happened and who is responsible. After that, it really comes down to details, like the characters, the twists, the suspense, etc. The problem here is after big K-drama successes that tackle bullying to various degrees, like "The Glory" or "Weak Class Hero", can this drama really afford to acknowledge the violence that the protagonists have initiated against other characters and make them get away with it in way ? This was not satisfactory one bit.
In general, injustice in society is a hot topic, the disgust for those whose social class is so high that they have no repercussions for their actions is very present, and again it's tackled in many k-dramas these days.
With the premise that strangely resembles "Elite", this series has offered us a nerfed version, full of rainbows and inconsistencies. Which is a shame, many series try to make themselves on formulas that work, which is okay, but why do it so lightly ?
The production is not questioned, but the characters and plot are. The series does not make sense, Kang Ha in particular has so many good moments that prop him up to be a decisive character, but somehow he caved in at the end ? The only thing that redeems his arc a little is the last scene at the end, when he seems to send a message of threat to Ri An. His crush on Jae Yi blinded him more than once, and he would have let them get away with it if Jae Yi did not play the 'voice of reason' by encouraging others to take their responsibilities.
Also, it should be mentioned how someone as despicable as Ri An is romanticized ? Not only does he orchestrate bullying and violence, but his toxicity and sense of ownership towards Jae Yi has no limits. It's more of a codependent relationship than anything else. It's not romantic, and he deserves to be punished with more than a slap on the wrist. Oddly enough, He Ra stands out as a character that we can relate to. She has her flaws, but she's relatable. Woo Jin is a discreet character, that we haven't really discovered, it's obvious that he can be cunning and even dangerous, but overall his character is overlooked and doesn't even get punished for being an accomplice.
The series was filled with scenes full of ostentation without real meaning, the plot is empty, it's just about characters provoking each other for attention, jealousy and power, nothing leaves space to breathe. Everyone watches these series to satisfy their inner sense of being petty and righteous, somehow, this series failed at that and just gave more frustration. I hope season 2 will live up to expectations, because honestly, do we really need a second empty season ? Like what is even the plot now that they've all 'paid' for their mistakes ? A murder ? Can't it get more cliché, sigh. It's their last year, I have low expectations.
I just hope this series will help Lee Chae Min land more series in the future.

Sets looks kinda weird.
This is an elite school. As we can see with the cast and the location, but the principal’s room seems out of place.Who in the world would use an old ceiling fan in an elite school?
The school entrance, the classrooms, even the washrooms are superb. Then the principal’s office—it looks like the school ran out of budget and didn’t upgraded the office.
But it could just be me. Idk.

Wasted potential
The story had a lot of potential but it wasn't executed properly. It was a revenge drama but I didn't see the revenge part anywhere. It was bland and boring. I had a lot of expectations for it as the story seemed promising but the show was a total wasted potential. Good cast, good budget, good story but poor execution. Only if the revenge was properly executed. At the end all the rich kids were still free and happy. None of them seemed guilty. Saying a simple sorry is just not it. It would've been better if there was no love triangleWas this review helpful to you?
Promising Start, Disappointing Finish
I was really looking forward to watching this when the trailer dropped on Netflix. It looked promising, but I ended up disappointed after watching just four episodes. The first two episodes were actually good, but as the story progressed, it became quite draggy and boring. I don't understand why they had to drag out the plot with only seven episodes in total. The acting wasn't great either. The opening song reminded me of Pyramid Game, but that's about the only positive thing I can sayWas this review helpful to you?

A PERFECT PRODUCTION
Maybe for some countries, the magic of HIERARCHY has not taken. But in mine we loved it and now it is also ranked 1st in 23 countries and 5th worldwide in the category of television programs. He also entered the top 10 in the United States for the first time.
SO I LAY THE FOUNDATIONS BEING A BIG FAN OF GOSSIP GIRL AND OVERALL I REALLY LIKE THE ELITE HIGH SOCIETY SCHOOL SERIES OF COURSE I WAS THE PERFECT CUSTOMER FOR "HIERARCHY"
"DESPITE THE FAT I LOVED IT. WITH A RESTED HEAD I ALSO SAW HIS DEFAULTS.
HIERARCHY IS FOR ME MORE A ROMANCE THAN A REVENGE AS THE LATTER HAS LOST ITS MEANING OVER THE EPISODES. AND CLEARLY GO YOUR WAY IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE "PSEUDO" HIGH SOCIETY OF YOUNG KOREANS CHAEBOL THAT WE HAD ALREADY SEEN IN PYRAMID GAME. FROM THE FIRST EPISODE I AM EMBARKED DIRECTLY. THE NEAT CINEMATOGRAPHY / PLANS / MUSIC AND THIS DISTURBING AMERICANIZED PAW STILL PUTS YOU IN A BRAND NEW STYLE OF KDRAMA ALMOST AWAY FROM WHAT WE HAVE BEGUN TO APPRECIATE KOREAN DRAMAS FOR THE DIFFERENT STYLE OF WESTERNS ETC.
HERE THE CHILD IS MORE THAN KING. HE SPEAKS BADLY TO ADULTS, HE HAS POWER (TOO MUCH EVEN) SEX TOBACCO ALCOHOL DRUGS ALL THIS IS PART OF THEIR VERBAL LANGUAGE THEY ARE TOTALLY DEVERGOND. WHY NOT? BUT IS THIS REALLY THE IMAGE OF YOUNG KOREANS? NOT COMPLETELY!
THE "POOR" HERO GOES TO THE "RICH" HIGH SCHOOL (YES WE ARE IN THE CLICHÉS) TO DO JUSTICE TO HIS BROTHER WHO PERISHED BECAUSE OF HIM. ON THE WAY HE MEETS THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE ONLY THIS ONE ALREADY HAS HER HEART TAKEN AND A VERY TRAUMATIC STORY TO HER MAKING HER DEVOID OF ALL EMOTIONS.
OUR HERO WILL THEREFORE HAVE TO JUGGLE BETWEEN HIS RECENT CRUSH AND THE HUNT FOR THE CULPRIT ALTHOUGH THIS WILL NOT BE THE PRIORITY OF THE CENTRAL PLOT YOU WILL HAVE UNDERSTOOD IT. BECAUSE HIERARCHY'S PROGRAM IS RATHER A LOVE TRIANGLE AND DECEITFUL PEOPLE AROUND WHO ALL HAVE THEIR LITTLE SECRETS AND WHO CLOSE THEIR EYES TO EVERYTHING IF THEY DON'T HAVE POWER, AND WHO ABUSE IT IF THEY HAVE IT TO MAKE AMERICAN PARTIES OR POUR MONEY/ALCOHOL AND LUXURY OUTFIT AFLOAT OR TO MAKE THE LAW AT SCHOOL.
THE PROS:
CINEMATOGRAPHY
OST
DECORS / UNIFORMS
CHOICE OF ACTORS (LEE CHAEMIN) AND PARENTS
THE SHORT FORMAT
VF AUDIO TO EXPAND THE KDRAMAS PUBLIC
THE FINAL MORALITY
THE SECRET OF THE LEAD WAS QUITE SURPRISING FOR A SCHOOL NOT USUAL OF KOREANS WHO ARE TABOO WITH THAT
THE INTIMATE SCENES THAT WERE DIFFICULT TO SHOOT FOR YOUNG ACTORS
APPEARANCES ARE MISLEADING
THE MAIN ROMANCE WAS STRONG BUT ABOVE ALL THANKS TO THE GUY
. THE CONS:
THE LEAD WAS WITHOUT EMOTION IT BECAME TIRING CREATING A LACK OF ALCHEMY
THE PLOT VENGEANCE IS COMPLETELY ABSORBED BY ROMANCE AND OTHER PROBLEMS
THE USA SIDE IS NICE BUT IS AWAY FROM KOREAN REALITY
INDECENCIES AND INJUSTICES ARE TOO NORMALIZED (LIKE THE TEACHER AND THE TEACHER EVERYONE KNOWS BUT?? )
THE LEAD IS EATEN BY THE SECOND LEAD SEVERAL TIMES AND WE NO LONGER KNOW HIS PLACE
THE CLICHÉS (BUT I DON'T LOVE IT)
THE MORAL END BUT AMBIGUOUS IN THE END WHO REALLY LEARNED THE LESSON?
THE FACT THAT THE TEASER DOING MORE THRILLER
GLOBALLY I LOVED THAT THE KOREANS GET OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONE EVEN IF WE WERE A LITTLE IN THE EXCESS FROM PENTHOUSE, ESCAPE, ETC. THEY LET THEMSELVES GO A LITTLE TOO MUCH LIKE US LOL AND IT'S NOT A GOOD SIGN FOR THE FUTURE IF WE CHOSE KDRAMAS IT'S BECAUSE THE USA SERIES ALSO LIFTS US TO THE BASE. I STILL ENJOYED THIS CINEMATOGRAPHY AND GLOBAL PRODUCTION THAT GOES UP A NOTCH AND SELLS DREAM FOR AN ELITE SCHOOL BUT WHICH IS VERY FAR FROM KOREAN CLICHÉS AND REALITY. I TOOK THIS WORK AS IT CAME AND I APPRECIATED SOME ACTORS WHO PLAYED WITH A LOT OF BITES DESPITE THE SCENARIO MISTAKES. I ADVISE IT TO THE REGULARS OF THE USA SERIES NOT THE REGULARS OF THE WEAK HERO DRAMAS ETC. TAKE THE WORK AS IT COMES. IT'S NOT A CHAOS THERE'S WORK BEHIND YOU DON'T BELIEVE AND GO DOWN THE DRAMA IS NOT JUSTIFIED FOR ME BUT I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT IT DIDN'T AFFECT EVERYONE

High Budget Low Plotline
I am very disappointed about this drama as it was very anticipated by me and everyone weeks before release but it turned out to be a below average kdrama. I just finished watching the drama and all I can make out is what the writer wanted to show? A love triangle which was poorly constructed, a murder mystery of a student or the social inequality presented in the society? The drama is basically based upon these topics which practically failed the whole Plotline and is very poorly written. It seems like the writer was confused about what to show. These topics should have been fitted if there was a good Plotline. Acting/Cast- Pls the only ones that carried the show were Kang ha (Lee chaemin) and the sfl ( Hera ). Their acting was justified. I was expecting Jae-i ( Roh Jeong eui ) to standout but alas she didn't. In each episode, her acting was the same. I anticipated the drama for her and didn't expect such poor results, especially Hera stood out to me in the drama more than her.( Wishing her to be in a new drama soon as the main lead). Ri- an acting was mediocre but his role was childish and immature. All the other side characters didn't stood out to me at all and there wasn't a single remember character. The only thing which is good are the osts believe me I searched up for those after the drama ended!!!.It practically as no rewatch value as the Plotline neither the acting of the majority is good. Let me say this, if you enjoy highschool dramas like me then you can go for it! It gave me elite vibes numerous times, but it isn't as good as Elite. So you can watch it to kill time. The first episode suprised me as it's very good and was up to my expectations. After ep 3 the story starting degrading and got boring, after that only the last episode is interesting where the whole Plotline twist is revealed.

Has a lot of potential but got limited to a short story
Story:The Series has a lot of potential but got limited to a short story telling. The first 2 episodes started in a high note then it did not sustain the impact of the first 2 episodes, probably writers direction? director direction? lot of possibilities some backend things affected the story telling. The series could go on to 8 or 10 episode, the backtrack is vague, the reason of the Female Lead is off timed at episode 6, there is no backstory on the parents, there is no side story on the foundation aside from the last 3 mins of the ending episode, after revealing a new principal, that's the only time the series got interested about the foundation. 7 episode is short and cramp, hopefully season 2 will be good, season 1 is just fair.
Acting/Cast:
Cast is strong, so there is no problem with the budget or not, because there are limited appearances of the parents in the series, Cast was not leverage to its potential. while on the other hand Acting, is somewhat Good - Fair , again limited based on the script and the director's direction.
Music:
This is an easy 5, not so much interesting on the BGM/OST
Rewatch:
the first 2 episode is a must watch, other than that a season 2 is needed.

Not what I expected
This show had really good potential, especially the way Netflix advertised it. I came into the show, thinking it would be elite meets pyramid game or penthouse. This show was quite tame compared to those examples. Episode one was the highlight of the show after the first episode, the show started to go downhill. The side characters really stood out to me in terms of acting, but the female lead was lacking compared to the other characters. The show was too focused on the romance aspect, and really could’ve played into the thriller/drama aspect of the show especially the revenge plot. I thought that last episode would recover the show for me and bring my rating up, but it just made me even more disappointed. The post credit scene had me invested more than all the other episodes past episode one. If you go into the show without much expectations, it could be enjoyable for you but overall, I wouldn’t watch it again. Was this review helpful to you?
Salute to the Scriptwriter and ppl who approved these
So Hierarchy bows out with a whimper rather than a roar, with a disappointingly obvious finale and a whole lot of fluff to pad out this chapter. This absolutely did not need to be 75 minutes long and the pacing throughout this show has been really poor. The chemistry between everyone has been bad across the board if I’m honest, and it feels like the creators tried to mimic Elite while also adding in Korean values, and failing spectacularly. None of the characters are particularly likable and the only “good” guy, Kang Ha, is pretty bland on the whole and struggles to stand out.
This one definitely had potential but all of that is squandered in this disappointing foray. Hopefully there won’t be a second season as Hierarchy is definitely not as glamorous and promising as its trailer made it out to be. What a shame.

Not what you'd expect
The drama doesn't focus on the school violence but rather on the love triangles among the students. A lot of things don't make sense and they didn't depict the resolution well. I still don't get why Kang Ha fell in love with Jae-i, especially why he would go to such lengths for her. The more I try to wrap my head around what happened, the less I understand the point of the drama... Sad to say what a disappointment it was after watching the trailer. Was this review helpful to you?
