The biggest drawback is having two different actresses play the same character.

The premise of the drama is truly compelling. The initial actress portraying YCW did justice to the character, depicting her as a person who has faced numerous hardships without parental support. The scar on her face made her standout in contrast to JJY.

Regarding JJY's portrayal of YCW, there's a notable absence of similarity in mannerisms compared to the initial actress. It's challenging to perceive them as the same character. Her acting style is similar in "Legend of Yunxi" and "In Class of Her Own".
and her makeup (it is same in every drama and every character she plays)..
i liked her acting more when she played evil SZ , it is really refreshing...

I think both actresses need to have a proper discussion on how the character YCW should be played. Their differing styles create a disjointed viewing experience, especially when the drama frequently presents flashback scenes featuring the YCW played by the initial actress. This inconsistency makes it increasingly difficult to stay engaged with the drama.

Regarding the love story...

We've been shown that the ML loves YCW deeply and is genuinely devoted to her. However, there's no solid foundation or explanation for his love. The only justification provided by the drama is that they met in childhood and he developed feelings for her, which isn't very convincing.

Given that the ML and YCW only met during childhood and were separated for a long period, there hasn't been enough time for their feelings to naturally develop. His desire to marry her seems to stem from a sense of pity for not being there for her during difficult times, or perhaps because of a marriage contract. Additionally, YCW doesn't seem to reciprocate his feelings.

The chemistry between the leads is lacking.

I would have preferred the story if the ML started to like SZ/YCW as a completely new person, rather than because she resembles his deceased wife and shares similar personality with YCW.

Apart from the face swapping and love story, the drama has several strong points:

1. The mystery element is very well executed.
2. The storyline is well-paced.
3. The costumes are excellent, and watching LXY is a treat for the eyes.

ok, I am dropping this drama.
However, I would recommend it to people who aren't bothered by face swapping or body swapping plots.

Story: 10/10 (The mystery and investigation are really interesting).

Mysterie and love

It's a very intriguing story. FL and ML solve mysterious deaths. The change of the FL is also very interesting. Some may not like it, because the actress who played the FL in the first episodes is also very likeable. Both actresses made a very good impression on me.
I have watched the drama to episode 7. I can't wait till the next episode is aired.

The story between the FL and the ML got me. The FL leads' tragical life. Her families' unsolved deaths which were tarned and presented as her father's betrayal to the state.

All seem to slowly unwind like a big knot giving small hints episode through episode. - We still have to watch many more episodes.-

The ML truly faithful love for the " believed dead" FL is shown very clearly. Although he at first seems to show no emotions, he cares a lot and hides every feeling very well behind a carefully put on passionless mask.

A recommended watch

Production is simple but well done for the entirety of the series from wardrobe to props.
All artist did an excellent job with their character, but have to say the actress who played Bao Xiasang still has improvements to do with her facial expressions.
I like the story: mystery, light humor, romance, and martial arts. Ending was left as if a season 2 can be expected which I hope they produce. No spoilers here just wish everyone will return to season 2 if there's any, but....
it's a recommended watch for me.

Worth watching

The story was so exciting with no boring parts. The lead roles are very good, their love story was incredible . I appreciate the acting of the second male lead role, he did justice to his role.
It's a mix of love story, mystery, action and drama. Every episode also is worth watching.
The story has a happy ending for the lead roles..

I decided to wrote my personal views about this drama after reading some comments and views about this drama. I started to watch and already finisheed waching this drama because I saw my Favorite actor. And, I have concluded that no matters what other's point of view or opinion this drama is great and worth watching. Both leading actors has a great acting skills though the female lead received criticisms but I don't care at all. She just performed her role to make the show great. She did her best to this show.

Liu Xueyi's Acting skills is gatting batter and better !!!!

Mysterious Lotus Case Book but Romance Version

I watched this because both main leads are popular and it looked interesting when people were telling me about it. It was good, but not the best and was boring at times. If you like something like Mysterious Lotus Case Book but with romance, this is the show for you! There are spoilers in this review so if you don't want to look at the spoiler, I suggest you do not read this.

STORY
The story was okay but there were lots of mini-cases that ended within 1 episode, which you can imagine how many there are when there are 32 episodes. I get that it was for the build-up to find who the real villain is but it would've been much better if they had dived deeper into the episodes because the cases were kind of generic. Also, after a few episodes, you'll realize that you will know what will happen in every case because it's always the same outcome, death. They should have made it a little different because seeing everyone dying for every single case made it look repetitive.

This is also a drama with the typical "know-it-all" female lead who apparently can solve everything while the male lead just stands there staring at her. Also, I understand that Shangguan Zhi (SSZ) switched body with Yang Cai Wei (YCW) but YCW in SSZ's body seems like a whole new character. In the beginning, you can see that YCW was a little timid with others as well as a little mysterious, which was what drove me to watch this drama but when YCW was in SSZ's body, she became so jolly like where even did this character come from?

The romance between SSZ and PY as well as Bai Xiao Sheng (BXS) and Zhuo Lan Jiang (ZLJ) felt kind of rushed. Especially for BXS and ZLJ, I don't think that the romance was there even though there were romance scenes, which was kind of disappointing. It felt like ZLJ went for a second option because YCW was with PY instead of him getting to know and liking BXS but it's probably because there are only 32 episodes so there wasn't enough time to build it up. SSZ and PY's romance was okay, but the connection wasn't that good either like it's good but not the best.

Therefore, I think that the cases were a little boring, the build-up wasn't that good either as it was predictable but all-in-all it was an okay drama, not even on the same level as Mysterious Lotus Case Book but this is good for something with romance and cases. I wish they would have gone in an alternative route than doing all these mini cases with all of them dying because it does get a little boring.

ACTING/CAST
The acting was okay, Xue Yi's and Jing Yi's acting was a little awkward at times but it was fine. I feel like for both, there has to be more depth, especially the female lead to bring out YCW's character. It doesn't seem like YCW in SSZ's body, it felt like someone else in SSZ's body, which doesn't align. Unfortunately, halfway through the show, I don't know what happened with the makeup but you can see the wig hairline, which wasn't the actor's fault but it was kind of funny to see that.

MUSIC
The music was good, there weren't any memorable songs but I might have to relisten all of those OSTs to give better feedback on them.

I love Ju JingYi <33333333

This show was incredible. The plot twists just kept on coming and I loved it. I feel like when it comes to drams that focus on crime solving and mystery, the focus tends to be drawn away from that and become more dragged.. like the same problem is delt with throught multiple episodes, leving less time for newer cases that could be solved. This tends to make viewers grow tired of mystery dramas, especially if these dramas are very long(ex 40+ episodes) but this drama focused on a lot of different cases, each one having it's own backstory that also ties to the bigger picture makes this show so worth watching.

Story :
The story was really well written. It was so good I dont have a lot to comment on lol. First I love the plot, how there's this big organization that has different branches in different places, causing problems for the main leads to solve. I love the female lead, the start was a little confusing but Ju jing Yi played both the evil supporting female lead and female lead very well. The way their personalities were so different, props to her. I also like how the main lead was very focused on her goal. The whole story about revenge and clearing their names while solving crimes together and developing feelings was the perfect mix. The plot twists between each episode and how each episode keeps you entertained. I also like how the director didnt make the second male lead so obsessed with the female lead and always trying to ruin the main couple's relationship, it gets so repetitive as a lot of dramas use this trop, so seeing how the second male lead was able to let the main female lead go and move on to love someone else really helped make this drama a lot better.

Music :
The songs were alright. I didn't really focus on it much as it didn't really catch my ear. It just sounded boring and not special. Maybe because I finished another drama not that long ago with a fire soundtrack that other soundtracks dont seem as good. The songs were great and I still enjoyed the vibes it gave for different scenes, but nothing really stood out to me.

Acting:
The main lead acting was soooo good. I've seen clips of ju jing yi's acting before and also watched some of her older dramas, as much as they were good her acting seemed a bit stiff and sometime not real. Like in previous dramas, when she had to be sad or cry, she barely shed a tear which made it seem really fake. But in this drama, she really brought it. All her scenes and emotions felt as though she actually went through the pain of losing a loved one, etc. Her acting greatly improved. I would love to see her play a evil character, cuz she plays them pretty well. The main lead was really good too. This is the first drama I've seen with him in it and I found his acting really captivating. He was very monotoned but you could still feel his sadness and grief through his acting. Although there wasn't many romantic scenes with the main lead, every scene their in did ooze chemistry. The servants of the main leads were soo cute, their relationship was so cute too. Although it was not fully confirmed that they liked each other, the audience could very much tell. The second lead couple was also really cute, too bad they had very less screen time and it didn't last long :( hope they get to be together in another drama one day.

Ending:
The ending was nice, I like how they finally caught the mastermind behind all the murders and betrayals. Though some characters didn't deserve to die but I like how everyone got a good ending. I do have one question though, and this may be a bit of spoilers but as the main leads solve each case, a tag with a number was found on it. from 7 all the way to 2, but there was no number 1, which was strange because the main mastermind throughout this drama should have been 1, as nothing pointed to a person with higher power. So does that mean we might get a season 2??? hope so, I loved this cast.

Very well done, if your someone who loves mystery then this drama is really good and will keep you hooked.

BOOM SHAKALAKAAA

I LOVED THIS PREMISE. I've not watched many transmigration shows, but this one is AMAZING. Like the transmigration to lowkey enemies to lovers...this is everything I needed in a c-drama. I don't really read synopses when I start c-dramas, but I think watching this while not knowing anything about the plot made it better!!! Especially when it got to the transmigration plot.
Originally, I thought the story would go to palace drama where it's real Yang CaiWei versus ShangGuan Zhi (like Yang CaiWei has to fight to make Pan Yue to believe it's actually her), but I pleasantly enjoyed the route they went.

**SPOILERS AHEAD***
One thought I had though...Zhuo LanJiang and Bai XiaoSheng's little side relationship was giving situationship 😭because what do you mean he won't say I like you or I love you but he's gonna say "I feel at peace when you're near me" and then they're doing the dirty LIKE I KNOW THEY ACTUALLY LOVE EACH OTHER but I kept thinking of it LMAO they were very cute though and justice for them fr

My true overall rating is 2 stars for the only 2 episodes worth watching

Cdramaland has been pretty lacking lately, but this drama was my tipping point. It just slapped me in the face with how cdramaland consistently sacrifices actors who can actually act for actors who suck at acting but have money and/or connections. In Kdramaland and elsewhere, actors are expected to be able to actually act - at a minimum. Shocker, I know.

The first two episodes gave me hope like there was never before. A director who knows what they're doing, a promising and interesting storyline, and two leads (ZHHZ and LXY) who have the best genuine chemistry that I've seen in a long time from dramaland. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. This is chemistry that no amount of money or back door connections can buy. Also, both ZHHZ and LXY are legit great actors.

Then, comes JJY. With her makeup that doesn't change across any drama or character or situation that she plays. With her acting that doesn't change across any drama or character that she plays. With those two wispy hairs on either side of her face that are completely inappropriate for the period and antithetical to the character she's playing but that doesn't change across any drama or character that she plays. I mean, talk about vanity and playing (at least at the beginning of this drama) a villainess who is obsessed with her looks. On the nose much?

Yet what took the cake for me and made it unbearable to watch any further is JJY's uncanny valley face. Felt like I was watching a period drama then, every so often, a Chinese makeup influencer with a permanent face filter would pop up, seemingly time-traveled from the modern age to talk with these ancient people.

If there are any astute producers out there, I'd be booking ZHHZ and LXY right now for a future drama. I mourn the drama that this could've been. And I mourn the state of cdramaland.

"In Blossom... Of nonsense"

This drama was a full-time assault on logic. I tried giving it a chance. I really did. I reached episode 7 hoping it would redeem itself, but instead it kept digging a grave—fitting, since the FL seems obsessed with them.

We start off with a handsome magistrate and a coroner whose face has disfigured due to an accident . They were engaged once upon a time but got separated due to some tragic backstory no one asked for. Now, after ten years, they reunite—and boom, wedding bells.

Enter: the side chic. She’s got a thing for the ML and decides that the most reasonable way to win his love is to—wait for it—swap souls with the FL. And the writers were like, “Yes. Genius. Let’s roll.”

She actually ends up marrying the ML (in the FL’s body), but karma clocks in fast—she gets murdered on the wedding night.
Now half the characters think it’s suicide, others whisper murder. The FL (now in the dead side chic’s body) suspects ML. So what does she do?

Takes her suspicions straight to him and makes him her partner in crime-solving. Like who watson??? I will pick the prime suspect.. okay !! Let that sink in. She thinks this man might’ve murdered her… and she’s like, “Wanna solve your own case with me?”

She throws every clue his way like she’s auditioning for a role in Scooby-Doo. She stumbles around crime scenes like a budget Sherlock Holmes with a head injury and leaves around her trails everywhere just the ML to catch her in her actions without even pitt ng any efforts.

now let's talk about the ML? The show stopper of Zero concern. This fan girl around him who used to obsess over makeup and manners, whose life was entirely about grace and appearance, suddenly starts unearthing corpses and talking decomposition—and he just goes like totally chill and unbothered. I mean if this is intelligence than I might be a cucumber in the physics lab.
Not once does he raise an eyebrow. Not once does he question the creepy new hobbies or the personality change that screams demonic possession or body snatching at minimum.

It’s like the entire cast is allergic to logic.

I already know if I watch till the end, I’ll find more gaping plot holes than a block of Swiss cheese. But why torture myself when there are other dramas that don’t insult your IQ?

This one was a mystery, a romance, and a horror—all rolled into one... horror for anyone expecting sense.

The plot is good, but it's a bit tough to watch....

It's really just a matter of personal preference, but I think they stretched the appearance of the original character, Yang Cai Wei, too much. Even with Ju Jing Yi portraying her, I find it hard to continue watching because I'm so used to the original character's face. It would have been better if the writers didn't focus so much on the original's appearance, as it makes it challenging for me to stay engaged. I'm not trying to criticize the plot, but personally, I found it difficult to watch. In the end, I decided to drop the show.

A Case-Driven Drama That Didn’t Fully Work for Me

I’m sorry, folks—this drama just wasn’t for me. I dropped it at episode 10. There were several reasons it didn’t work.

While I appreciated that Ju Jingyi expanded her range by taking on a villainous role, I was disappointed when she slipped back into her usual character portrayals. And although Liu Xueyi delivered a strong performance, I felt the chemistry between the leads was mismatched, and the storyline itself was difficult to connect with. On the positive side, this was the first time Li Geyang caught my attention, and I thoroughly enjoyed his screen presence. He brought his character to life with charisma and nuance, layering various traits and moods effortlessly and naturally.

Overall, I liked the narrative framework that wove individual cases into a larger storyline, but ultimately, the execution didn’t quite land for me—it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
