i am traumatized

every actor did a great job. jeff especially. but i am traumatized. i will give this a rewatch, because... what? i love and hate it at the same time. that's why it's good. this movie is supposed to make us feel conflicted and that's exactly what it did. can't wait to rewatch and traumatize the rest of my friends. my roommate was my first victim. it had some silly moments too, i loved that. i have a hard time focusing on movies when i watch them, but I didn't look away from the screen for the entire time through this one. it was so engaging and interesting

good job, really

I'm At Lost For Words

This is such an amazing movie, I felt so much during these 2 hours, and at first I thought I wouldn't like it too much because a lot of things in this plot weren't my cup of tea, but it all balanced itself out and it became a perfect mix of a rollercoaster of emotions, even though this doesn't have a happy ending like how I usually like or wish it had, it was still very well done, and it had its good moments and good chemistry, this is a devastating story but its beautiful regardless, it just shows so much emotion and so much realistic views on real life problems, marriage inequality, and economic issues. It depicts greed and the yearning of money so much, the actors do an amazing job expressing each character individually and being able to show across a screen how these characters were feeling. I am at loss for words so theres nothing else I can say, but in very short, I loved this movie, its been a while since I've watched something this good, I honestly recommend it with every part of me, but be warned about the rollercoaster of emotions and sadness you will experience. It's a tragic story, to say the least.

Devastating

I'm a Jeff Satur fan, so regardless of the plot or quality I was going to watch this movie. I only knew the gist of the plot and that it would be sad. I never expected it be this cruel, it's one of if not the saddest movie I ever watched in my entire life.

I finished watching it last night at 11:30 pm and today at 6:30 pm I still have a knot in my throat it was so sad, so unfair so cruel I haven't been able to cry yet but I feel as if I could at any moment, I am in total shock.

The cinematography was amazing, all shots were so beautiful and the acting was wonderful. All the actors did a great job my favorites being the two main leads.

Jeff totally blew my mind. The only other acting I've seen him do was in Kinnporsche and not only was I jot impressed but I really didn't like his character. But here, His character made me feel for him, every single scene from start to finish I was with him, I felt him, I was him.

England Waraha, It was my first time ever seeing her and wow I can't even explain how much I lo her! she played Mo so perfectly 👌 I hated her pretty much as soon as I saw her and hated her more and more with each and every act of selfishness she did every single thing she said and the way she said it. She was just awful, however, she had her reasons for being the way she was, the character isn't bad for the sake of being bad, she's that way because she's wounded her life hasn't been easy so her cunning evil ways are a product of that. I completely understand why she behaves the way she does, but I still loathe her and that is just the best kind of antagonist.

The mom was just a mean old lady, just a horrible person.

And jingna, he's adorable, I fell for him we all fell for him.

I don't want to give too many details about the plot but, I have to warn anyone who might be thinking of watching this, the ending was just too much, too painful, so much happens throughout the run of the movie, and then the ending hits so hard it hurts so much that I can't even put into words how I feel. It's an excellent movie regardless so it deserves to be recognized as such.

The Paradise of Thorns weaves such a powerful and unforgettable tapestry, blending elements that deeply resonate and stir emotions. I’ve never felt so many emotions during a movie, and I’ve certainly never cried so much while understanding each character’s pain.

The brilliance of this film lies in how its characters lead us to reflect on different facets of love and loss. It transcends its initial premise around LGBTQ rights, pushing us to think about what truly matters in life. It’s intense, with a heavy storyline, yet at the same time, it’s captivating and moving, leaving you with a persistent feeling of unease.

The performances are nothing short of incredible. The actors embodied their characters with such precision that I genuinely felt their emotions as my own. I have to say I consider Jeff Satur the most complete artist of today. He sings, he dances and he acts. And does it all with remarkable perfection. His portrayal of Thongkam was outstanding, perfectly capturing the vulnerability of his character.

Engfa delivered an acting masterclass, and I honestly can’t imagine anyone else playing Mo as brilliantly as she did.

The final scene was executed with such skill that I needed a moment to compose myself afterward. The cinematography is stunning, and the soundtrack is absolutely beautiful. After watching the movie, Jeff Satur’s song “Rain Wedding” took on an entirely new meaning for me.

This is undoubtedly one of the best films I’ve seen in years. Thai cinema continues to win me over with its masterful storytelling.

The Paradise of Thorns is a film that will stay with me for a long time. I highly recommend it!

A Heartfelt Masterpiece

As someone who enjoys stories that blend genuine emotion with cultural depth, this movie hit all the right notes. It’s more than just a film about love—it's a tale of resilience and the quiet battles people face in their pursuit of happiness - even though at the end, the "happiness" is indeed a question.

The story is deeply rooted in the cultural backdrop of a durian farm, which adds a unique charm. It’s not just a love story—it’s an exploration of identity, societal expectations, and the courage to live authentically. The visuals are stunning, with lush farm landscapes that contrast beautifully with the characters' tumultuous inner worlds.

Jeff Satur as Thongkham is the soul of this movie. His portrayal felt so real that it was easy to forget I was watching an actor. The way he captured Thongkham's inner struggles—his vulnerability, strength, and determination—was breathtaking. Jeff’s expressions and body language spoke volumes, even in moments of silence. It’s clear that he poured his heart into this role, and the result is nothing short of mesmerizing.

The soundtrack sung by Jeff Satur himself is another star of this movie. It’s beautifully intertwined with the narrative, amplifying the emotions of each scene. Jeff Satur, being a talented musician and songwriter, brings an undeniable magic to the musical elements. The hauntingly beautiful tracks stayed with me long after the credits rolled, becoming a part of the emotional journey the film takes you on.

This movie invites you to reflect on love, acceptance, and the price of staying true to oneself.
This isn’t just a movie—it’s an experience, one that lingers in your heart and mind long after it ends.

must watch if you want to cry your heart out

absolute peak cinema. the acting, the colour grading, the cinematography, the script, they did not miss ANYTHING.

i love angst and this is literally what i reach for whenever im sad and need an outlet. i can't cry easily just from my feelings but this just opens the floodgates every time.

jeff and engfa literally KILLED IT in this movie. while this movie can't be called comforting AT ALL, it's become my comfort.

really shows the struggle that queer people went through JUST TO GET BASIC RIGHTS and still a majority of them in most of the countries don't have the same rights as the others. this world is such a unfair place, there's so much to hate in this world and people decided to choose to despise love, just because it doesn't look like THEIR definition of love.

i hope other countries become open to queer people and let them live and love however they want. while thailand has made queer marriage legal, most countries (including mine) are literally destroying what little rights queer people have, and it's so messed up.

this movie is a GREAT GREAT take on this inequality and it's definitely worth giving a watch even if it's not someone's usual style. kudos to the director, the actor and everyone else involved in the making of this film, i hope it gets more recognition in the further days.

A film that stays with you

The Paradise of Thorns is not just a simple Thai movie, it reflects society and dives deep into the layered emotions of each character. Mo, especially, made me feel love, hate, and pity for her all at once. A powerful film that lingers, making you carry its emotions long after watching. Really a great movie!

Everyone should watch it once!

This is such a good movie. I believe that everyone should watch it once and once only because why are making yourself go through all that again. If you're a rewatcher, you're just inflicting pain on yourself.

I love how you can see the issues same-sex couples have legally (as this was made before the law passed) and that hit me like a truck. Especially the hospital scene. The grandma felt a little annoying.
Thongkam deserved so much better. I was rooting for him throughout the movie except for one scene at the end which disturbed me a lot. I felt bad for Jigna. I felt like he got dragged into something he didn't need to be dragged into and then had a short span of happy moments.

The mosquito net scene was just <3
I loved Thongkam's piercings and the aesthetic even when he shaved his head. Jeff and Keng looked so freaking good together.

Overall, I'd love to rate it exactly 9.9 because that 0.1 is for that ending but I don't really have that option here so I have settled for a 10 instead.

Raw and Brutal

This movie makes you feel empty. Not in a negative sense. In a way that makes you wonder 'What's the point?' Makes you realise the insignificance of the ego.

Set in a countryside of Mae Hong Son, the movie captures the simple beauty of ordinary life. The lush green vegetation under sun and rain throughout the movie pleases your eye. The inclusion of local traditions like the rocket festival make it feel more realistic. The movie has kept unpolished elements throughout its length, adding to the organic feel.

The story can be described with just two words - raw and brutal. The reality of homosexual love being treated as just a fling is shown in such an unfiltered way, it hurts. Even if it has been legalised in countries today, there still remains a huge population who are ignored. This movie validated their side of the story. And then there is the potrayal of the life of people at the bottom of the society. Hardships to such great extents that you'd do anything to get out of it. Only to realise, there isn't any point. This movie's an emotional rollercoaster - anger, pain, suffering, helplessness. You want more and couldn't care less about others. You could let go but choose to go back and fight. And in the process, the genuine ones become the victims. Conscience is dead. And finally, the ending leaves you asking, 'What was all that for?'

Jeff Satur! This man is from a whole different planet, I swear! The myriad of things he can do; one of the best being acting. He blew me out of water! I honestly never knew he was this good. The emotional scenes especially. Wonderful! Engfa Waraha. Another gem. This was my first time seeing her in an ordinary look, without all the makeup and costumes. And she is still so pretty! She potrays Mo so well, it deserves a loud applause. Even if it's a small role, but I loved the character Jingna played by Harit. He was the only person who wasn't driven by an ulterior motive. Harit did a good job here. Pity his character met a tragic end. That scene was heartwrenching. Srida Puapimol as the mother was also very memorable. Huge respect for your talent.

The most important point of the whole cast is the originality in acting. The natural portrayal pulls you in and before you know, you are one of the durian trees watching them in person.

I don't think there are many that outshine 'Rain Wedding', the OST for the movie by Jeff Satur. Another masterpiece of his. It's been one of favorites for so long! Loved it since day one. It's that bittersweet song, making you happy and sad at the same time. I love it so much I won't stop talking!

Finally, it's not a movie I'd go back to again and agai. Not a comfort watch; it's torture. But I'm pretty sure I'd rewatch it quite a few times more. It's a guarantee, you won't regret this watch.

New appreciation

After watching this dramatic movie, which has no light moments, I have a new appreciation for the talents of Jeff Satur! The FL Enfa Waraha was outstanding! There were no winners - the script was beautifully-written, but dark, dark, dark!
I didn't realise, when I started the show, that "Keng" Harit Buayoi was also in this, showing a hint of the good things to come
in Khemjira. When I read that Srida Puapimol won an award for her role, I thought that it was only right - she was fabulous! (R.I.P.)
There was no glitz and glamour to this Thai movie - only evidence of hard work, and scraping by.

Beatiful take on life and love

10/10 will never watch again

Was left traumatized but ngl

The cinematography, the cast, the acting, the script, the plot, the ost, just absolutely everything about this movie is top-tier and such a masterpiece I will not shut up about. I just can't move on from this movie that I made my siblings watch the lyrics video on rain wedding (cuz why not it's so beautiful).

This movie had me on chokehold. It showed how unfair life is esp' in the rural areas, how people can be deceiving, people are selfish but at the same time people can be selfless, and how one lie can wreck a person. Life is unfair with many challenges yet he still chose to love again and to fight until the end. It showed several social issues that are VERY relevant in this time and age. Overall, it's not just about the durian farm, it's about society as a whole.

To end this, I would like to share that..........wtaf why universe whyyyyy likeee why him

Thank you 🙇‍♂️

P.S. I have watched this 2 years ago and has yet to rewatch it, still not ready for the pain it's gonna cause
