Lovely Runner Review

Do you know a series about a girl that loves a boy so much, she goes to the past multiple times just to save the boy she loves? Well that series is called lovely runner! Its my favorite K-drama right now! This series was directed by Yoon Jong-Ho and this series came out at April 8 2024. The actors that played in this movie are Byeon woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, these are the actors that played as Sunjae and Im sol, they are also amazing actors! And the genre of this series is romance and fantasy.

In my opinion lovely runner is the best and most popular K-drama this year. I also have 2 reasons and evidence for this, first, all the actors are really good and actually can act well, if you watch the series yourself you can see how they can act well as the character they are playing and all their expressions fit the scene. Second, The movie is actually very popular and the actors are popular too, one of the reasons are lovely runner was top 1 in viki for 6 weeks! That’s a long time isn’t it? In addition to this, the actors are also popular, one of the evidence for this is Byeon woo-seok became the top Korean celebrity in brand rankings and also won the Outstanding Asian Star Korea Popularity Award (Male) at the 19th Seoul Drama Award in 2024. Lovely runner also had another version, the webtoon version, however I didn’t read that version of lovely runner so I personally feel that lovely runner series is better.

Lovely runner seems like just a normal romance K-drama, but it also has something we can learn from it. Firstly from this series we can learn how God already planned our life, like how Im sol erased her and sunjaes memories together but they still ended up together, that’s how God already planned them to be together, a bible verse for this is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future". It means how God already planned everyones life before they were born, like how Im sol and sunjae are still together after everything that happened, its fate. Second, we should trust in God for everything since he already planned our life, our future, we have to trust in God because everything he plans for us is good and is whats best for us.

To sum up, If you want to watch a romance movie with great actors you should watch lovely runner!! I would give this a 5 out of 5 stars because I really think this movie is interesting and fun to watch, I just love everything about this series and I really recommend this series, try to watch it!!

where do i begin?

this is one of the best Kdrama of 2024. and tagal kong inignore tong palabas na to kahit lagi kong nakikita sa feeds ko kada scroll ko sa fb naspoil na nga ako dahil sa mga post, memes, and clips na nagkalat. i really don't have time to watch Kdrama at the moment pero luckily nagka long weekend kami di ko na rin natiis kaya pinanood ko na kahit on-going pa. sobrang nakakaadik talaga bawat episode never akong inantok never akong nagfast forward unlike sa mga previous Kdramas na di ko na papangalanan pero di ko talaga matapos tapos ang dami kong pending sa listahan ko hahahaha pero ito? juskolord tinapos ko talaga within the day hahahaha sobrang nakakatuwa yung mga silly funny moments nila. yung saya ko dito kasing level ng saya ko sa funny moments ng Waikiki at Weightlifting fairy kim bok joo. tbh di ako nagagwapuhan kay byeon woo seok before ilang beses ko na sya napanood sa Soulmate pati sa 20th century girl saka strong woman nam soon.

dito sa lovely runner ibang klase yung charm nya shemay parang kpop idol talaga sya. ang ganda pati ng boses nya LSS ako sobra sa Sudden Shower sya pala talaga kumanta nun? tapos yung concert ng eclipse habang kinakanta ni sunjae yung sudden shower iba yung awra nya dun grabe naiiyak nalang ako sa sobrang melancholic nung pagkakanta nya. kung pwede lang sana magkaconcert sila as if naman kaya ko makanood if ever bwahahaha. pero overall sobrang ganda talaga netong Lovely Runner kahit gusto ko nalang sakalin yung taxi driver/killer na yan nang matapos na problema nila saka frustrating minsan si im sol ang reckless ng lola mo stubborn din eh i have nothing against kay hye yoon sobrang galing nyang artista hahagulgol ng iyak then after hahalakhak ang hirap kaya nun , ibiblame ko sa writers ng story yung frustations ko sa character nya hahaha

pero dahil sa palabas na to feeling ko naging high school ako ulit sobrang nostalgic yung feeling habang pinapanood ko to parang sarap mainlove ulit nowadays kasi ihi nalang nagpapakilig saken saka Kdrama bwaahahaha di ko kasi naranasan yung gantong klaseng love nung teenage years ko sadt hahaha pero thankful ako sa drama na to naging escape ko sya sa harsh reality ng buhay hahahahaaaays. anyways sana happy at satisfying ang ending nito at hindi open ended bittersweet ending gaya ng Extraordinary You kasi kung hindi naku sarap kalbuhin ng writers bwahahahaha.

The Ultimate Romance Kdrama

This kdrama was the best kdrama I ever watched and it’s absolutely perfect ahhh 😌. If you like romance kdramas, you must watch this. The plot was really exciting, unexpected, well-paced and I never felt bored watching this show. The actors were so talented and attractive and had great chemistry together. Ryu Sun Jae was especially dreamy and soulful… he’s really the ultimate lover. The production and writing was top tier and every episode left me wanting for more. The sets were so scenic and the music was amazing too. I really can’t think of anything I hated about this show.

STOP RATING THIS DRAMA SO HIGH???

Dude, I watched this from beginning to end and I’m flabbergasted at everyone’s audacity to rate this so high. This is a 6/10 at HIGHEST. There’s multiple plot holes, and a bloated storyline that wasn’t even inside the original content. The MC is absurdly dumb, it’s hard to cheer for her when she just gives me second hand embarrassment at every turn. It’s like self harm watching her react to situations. Don’t waste your time, don’t trust social media. It’s just eye candy. All actors are fine, the MC’s script I’m assuming was awful. It feels like people are getting paid to rate it so highly.

My most lovely drama

I wasn't interested in the drama and actors when I first saw the pre-aired promotion clips.
Somehow, I clicked episode 1 without much interest because I was too bored to finish the QOT drama and the other C-dramas. But surprisingly, I fell in love with both ML and FL and their friends, cinematography, make-up style, script writing, music/Osts and everything. This is my first time writing a drama review, although I have many movies or dramas I have been obsessed with before. But this one hits me differently.
I wish the drama actors could make another movie again and hope the ML and FL date each other.

A classic: Perhaps the greatest romance drama ever

If you read the plot synopsis you'd think there's nothing new or revolutionary about this plot. And you'd be right. "Time Slip" genre has been done to death in not just Korean Dramas but Asian Dramas in general. Just last year we had three Time Slip dramas, and those are just the ones I watched. The writer has written the story of Lovely Runner in such a beautiful way that these overused tropes feel so fresh. Each episode ends on such a high that all you think about is this drama, while waiting for the next one to come out, so much so that your life will be consumed by it (I really envy people who are going to binge watch this). The ending of Ep 2 is a particular favorite of mine, where the writer spins the narrative on its head and that is the moment where I knew I was in for something special. And there was no looking back after and there was not one episode until the end where I was not captivated by the storytelling. The writer has a unique take on "Time Slip" where the main female character Im Sol is able to travel back and forth between past and the present. The only catch is, she has limited tries and there are some rules she must not break while she is in the past. This raises the stakes of the story and also keeps the narrative interesting.

Im Sol and Ryu Sunjae are the heart and soul of this beautiful story. Kim Hye Yoon who plays Im Sol and Byeon Woo Seok who plays Ryu Sunjae give career defining performances. I have seen Kim Hye Yoon before in "Sky Castle" and "Extraordinary You", and I always thought she was a good actress, but with Lovely Runner she has become one of my favorite drama actresses. This is my first drama with Byeon Woo Seok and what an actor he is! He deserves all the praise that is coming his way for playing Sunjae. Im Sol and Ryu Sunjae are some of the best written main characters in kdrama history and Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok elevate those characters to a whole another level. The supporting characters were all great, especially the SML, Kim Tae Sung who is a breath of fresh air among second leads in kdramas. Never once does he force his feelings on Im Sol and was such a ray of sunshine throughout. I adored his bond with Sunjae and Sol.

Lovely Runner gives us a romance story for the ages spanning multiple decades. Im Sol challenging fate and destiny, failing multiple times along the way trying to save her love Ryu Sunjae. Their story will make you cry multiple times, but you'll also smile like crazy watching them being in love with each other. Unlike other romance dramas which run out of steam in Ep 10, this one just keeps getting better as it takes you through a roller coaster of emotions. And unlike most dramas the payoff at the end is so satisfying to watch. This is one of the rare dramas which gives you a very satisfying ending, an amazing payoff to Sol and Sunjae's love story.

Music is also an important part of the story with Sunjae headlining a famous band called "Eclipse". It is very well incorporated into the story and the songs are all top tier. Half of the songs are sung by Byeon Woo Seok himself, which is such a nice touch. No wonder these songs are so popular in Korea right now.

Dramas like Lovely Runner only come around once every few years. A drama that will captivate you through its storytelling and acting and production. This drama was not at the top of anyone's "Plan to Watch" list before it came out heck even the channel was expecting it to flop but through its sheer excellence it became the raging Hit that it is. Lovely Runner is a masterpiece and one of the best dramas I have ever seen. I am putting it in the same category as "Reply 1988" and "Twenty Five Twenty One" as my all time favorite dramas.

it has more fantasy then story

it was satisfying to watch. The character build up, there struggles you feel sorry for female mc. and don't like the fact that its taken as Idol and his fangirl, they tried to hide this fact by she was his first love which made it worst.
they could have shown him as a saviour and owe her, her life. i mean she was suicidal, and his words and his presents even as an idol in her life made her want to live again... which was it self a big plot. yeah the drama version wasn't bad but it made the situation comedic, whatever it was really fun. i think they didn't want to make it serious...

but the last episode felt like a rushed one ... they were like doesn't matter what is it just make a happy ending 😂😂

Unnecessary dragged

The first episode had me hooked but as the show progressed the story became just like any other Kdrama. Don’t know why some scenes and characters reminded me of true beauty. The character tae sung had uncanny resemblance with true beauty’s seo jun. Anyhow i wish there was more depth to the characters as female lead seemed shallow and same with some other characters. The female lead got on my last nerves with her stupid choices. The more chances she gets to go into the past the more dumb and careless she behaves and gets herself in trouble. I do feel bad for sunjae.

I still continued to watch it but Episode 8 is when it all went down. I was okay with the cliches too but episode 8 completely ruined it for me. Time travel become a joke at this point. Even sunjae’s feelings become a joke based on how conveniently Sol expressed her feelings 14 years later and he didn’t ask for an explanation? Like his feelings literally become so irrelevant after this point because no matter what sol does he kept clinging to her like a puppy. I hated to watch her travel back into past again. I wish they had ended the drama at episode 8 where they confessed feelings and got together. THE END but noo the writers had to drag the story even if they have nothing new to add to develop the plot.
I can easily guess what the final episodes are going to be about soo not curious at all.
Ps I know it’s seems stupid to drop a drama soo close to the finale but it cringe so bad when things get lame. I gave this drama a fair shot but…

Romance is great, story is lacking

I think romance-wise these 2 actors may have some of the best chemistry I've seen in a minute! They carried as much as they could, but the story was a little all over the place plot wise, and im sol's whole shtick of hating on herself gets super old halfway thru. I also agree with some others that the drama didn't need to be as long as it was, and felt dragged out for an unmemorable climax. All in all though, i would still rate it fairly well since it gave me what i wanted out of it, which was an adorable romance, not a well-thought-out plot (though it was an intriguing and semi-original plot device/concept).
