What an emotional rollercoaster

This season had everything from drama to romance to crying to laughter and was an emotinal rollercoster for many of the contestants.

The only gripe I have with that show is the ending of Hammin and Youngyoon. I don't see the point in showing something so negative on the show. I would have been more interested, what happenend with all the other man, if they all meet up, or what happenend with the third couple. To tell the audience in passing that Hammin & Youngyoon did not work out, would have been a much better choice.

So, this show leaves a bitter aftertaste after an interesting season.

more tension in season 3 of His Man (reality m/m dating series)

Overall: though it started with feeling similar as the past 2 seasons of His Man, it ended up with more tension and less friendship in my opinion which could be good or bad depending on viewers' preferences. 14 episodes about 1 hour each. Aired on iQIYI https://www.iq.com/album/his-man-season-3-2024-1fl5vc0n6ap?lang=en_us Here is my review of season 2 https://mydramalist.com/743089-his-man-season-2/reviews

Reality Dating Series Note: When watching "reality" series, I always keep in mind that producers might tell the guys what to do/say and that editing can be extremely misleading (not showing things, change the order, etc). My goals are that the guys have some fun (maybe make a friend) and being on the show helps (or at least doesn't hurt them) in their personal and professional lives.

What I Liked
- I like how they started with a date and the twist gave a bit more drama
- the 30 second phone call thing was good (I personally think it's best if the guys say who they are and call someone they are romantically interested in to avoid mixed signals/increase the odds of a mutual match)
- production value such as nice music, set design, editing, etc

Room For Improvement
- too many phone calls, would like to see some larger group games/intro games
- I was going to say it was a good decision to not let them say their age or occupation right away because I think people get fixated on those things when in reality personality, values and goals are much more important compatibility-wise; however, some of the guys seemed extremely fixated on this and I think some guys are going to get hurt after their ages are known so maybe it would be best if ages were known from the beginning or to have all the contestants be within 5 years of each other
- I don't like that the producers did something (they must ask the dating histories of the guys, I can't think this was accidental), felt like the producers just wanted to create drama
- needed nametags or nametag necklaces at least for the first few episodes to get familiar with all of their names
- I didn't like episode 14, I think more of a follow up as a group would have been better they definitely shouldn't have shown 1 of the couples and then oddly did not show show a different couple...maybe that couple got smart and didn't want bad editing so refused to film it or something

Comparison to other m/m dating shows
1. The Boyfriend (Japan) on Netflix. Guys run a coffee truck and live together for 1 month.
2. Sparks Camp (Philippines) on YouTube, currently on season 2. Anyone can date anyone. Great diversity with the guys.
3. Boys Like Boys (Taiwan) on GagaOOLala, had a very similar aesthetic/vibe to His Man
4. Love House seasons 1 & 2 (Vietnam) on YouTube (most have English subs, this is ep 1 of season 2 no subs though https://youtu.be/TKzT_nHfVTA ). I liked this set up more than Bromance because the guys could all pursue one another. I didn't like the "secret couple" aspect and dividing them up based on sexual position seemed odd (can't they discuss that in private???) Season 1 was also the most brutal "rose ceremony" I've ever seen in any dating reality show. Season 2 was better.
5. Bromance (Thailand) is also on Gagaoolala. This is the typical Bachelor/Bachelorette set up with a bunch of people competing against one another to be with the 1 bachelor. I didn't like this because they could have all been hitting on each other and we have multiple couples! I got kind of bored and skipped a bunch.

Perfectly enjoyable until the finale

This series got way too much criticism for the first 13 episodes. Yes, the cast was a little messier but they were overall still very sweet and fun to watch. There were real genuine emotions there, and despite the feedback, it was a good season. The last episode then proceeded to ruin the entire show with one of the worst conversations to ever be put to screen and a series of editing choices that suggest the producers might have personal beef with several contestants. I am shocked not only be the behavior of one of the contestants in this episode but also by the very choice to show such a humiliating and vulnerable moment to viewers.

Why did it stop airing?

I don't know what happened in the last 2 seasons but I really liked season 3 because the cast was really good and they were trying to present themselves in every possible way whether it is love, emotion, happiness, sadness, funny etc .I liked it the most when MINSEON and MYEONGKYUN They became a couple because I wanted to see them as a couple and I want it forever because the relationship between them had become very deep on the show itself and they had come on the show only for each other But I am sad about one thing that I was expecting a beautiful kiss from this couple later but that did not happen but I am still very happy after watching this reality show.

I never wanted this show to end but it had to. I want more new seasons of His Man to come in the future

I Liked The Previous Two Seasons Better

This season was fickle, defiant and definitely a double-edged sword!

It’s very unlikely that people might find true love in a dating show, much less stay together after they leave the show. Surprisingly, “His Man Season Three” delivered a verdict that was obviously oblique and yet predictable. Some might have enjoyed the predictability, but let’s accept the truth- pitted against strong contenders like “The Boyfriend” & “Sparks Camp Season Two”, the sequel had veritable shortcomings that portray the glaring differences. Reality television has an upside that it isn’t mostly scripted, we are looking at real expressions or emotions; but that doesn’t mean it deviates from the normal melodrama that is so typical of love stories, especially love triangles (this show had two, frankly, twice the melodrama). Complexities were a galore, because the crew seemed to come up with diffident tasks that meant pitching love interests against each other. It was interesting to watch in the beginning, but with time, it became boring and outdated. Simply following the same format and creating unwarranted tension doesn’t mean improved ratings!

Lost romance

This is the 3rd season, however, I think the production team were different because the focus was not on dating and new romance but conflict and uncertainty.

I feel that in this culture the issue of someone's age is important therefore all contestants should have been chosen within a 5 year range of each other. There was a definite shift in interest when large age gaps were revealed drastically reducing the potential romantic partners for the contestants.

An ex-boyfriend was introduced and his unresolved issues were acted out and he later admitted he had tormented him, this friction was felt by the others and could have been avoided or edited out.
Some of these decisions may have been deliberate to create tension but for me this is not a kdrama it is real people in a pressure cooker environment hoping to make a romantic connection.

I preferred the Boyfriend format of support and friendship.

It will not replace His Man S2 in my heart but honestly truly enjoyed the wild ride and messiness

I binge-watched the show in 2 days, which proves how good TV it was for me. It was such a wild (and dramatic) ride and I was super invested in the storylines (especially the most messy one). I enjoyed the summery vibes, it is a nice contrast to the two previous seasons. There were some really cute and fun location / activities proposed during the dates, it was pretty entertaining with a nice soundtrack.

The main flaw of this season relies on its ending which was painful to me as I felt my favorites participants had quite the short end of the stick. I do not understand why the epilogue did not feature all the protagonists to keep us posted on where they are now...Especially as the show has been filmed about one year ago, there was for sure some better way to close it. I simply cannot understand the editing and storytelling choices that were made at the end.

Despite the fact that none of the relationships that made it through the end were entirely satisfying to me, I loved the ensemble cast as well as the dramatic tensions that were interwoven into the story because of some of the contestants. It was messy and really entertaining for sure. All the contenders were likeable in their own ways.

I would recommend this to people that love dating shows. If you enjoyed the previous seasons of His Man, you will probably enjoy it. The mechanics stays the same (with minor changes: some exciting, some useless) with also a bit more of production / editing choices to keep things interesting. The main failure of the season relies in the questionable decision the production team made regarding the epilogue of the series. My advice: watch episode 1 to 13 which takes you on a highly bingeable and messy journey, providing a fluffy and sometimes dramatic story; and don't watch the episode 14 which does not bring any value to the series and can lead to some unnecessary frustration.

A questionable war with a pinch of romance

Season 3....well...the production's bad choices to create uncomfortable situations and the cast:
The youngest being the most mature person and least appreciated although he deserved the most.
The narcissist, passive-aggressive who thinks he owns people. He cries seeking attention for his own choices, being the big red flag.
The naive young boy who can't "read the room", being dragged by the red flag and excused only by his age.
The "seems to be" mature turning into an insecure person, finding too late the peace he could have.
The overacting cute guy who can not - but tries - to control everything without being able to control himself.
The "almost" green flag that the production decided to de-colorize in episode 14. He tries to "dance along" with the overacting guy and in the last episode becomes incomprehensible as to what was true or not all the time.
The "wanted to be" cool ex- future "go by the flow" guy, who does not try to be truthful to himself from the begging but becoming an interesting participant and..
The green flag by name Hwang Min Seon who tries to control the mess.

Although we have seen aspects of the above in previous seasons, in this one, we see the the predominance of negative characteristics at the expense of positive ones and with the help (missions, editing etc) of the production. Unfortunately these bad aspects ruled a big part of the first 9-10 episodes, then the show becomes enjoyable in episodes 11-13 with everyone acting as they should have from the beginning and finally the production decides episode 14 which... I still don't know why ep 14 exists but it is a big and major issue to the dis-likeness of the season.

Its surely different.....

Well, i was exited to see there's a new season of his man as i honestly loved the second season . but as i started watching
I realized that its extremely different for a majority of reasons first of all the cast aren't as friendly as the past seasons, I think some of them might even hate each other plus i think them putting literal exes on a show together was uncalled for i get it they might have not known but do they seriously not do back round checks on them like i feel like they would have known if they checked better and prevented one of the biggest fights happening on the show constantly . i mean maybe they did know and did it on purpose for more drama on the show . the two of them keep mentioning that what they had prior to the show was not dating but flirting i think that if anyone was to look at their past TikTok videos they'd think the opposite. also the whole drama between four of the cast members was verry odd like it was all one of them causing it. but if you like drama packed shows i think you'll definitely enjoy this one! in my opinion its a good show with a chance to get better as i have only watched 7of the 11 episodes.

Lots of expectations, not well executed

First let me say it was good till some point but then I stopped feeling the feelings you know???
Tf was ep 14? You can’t just show 2 couples and leave one out if there is a scandal going on, a professional thing to do it leave ep 14 out.

A week to fall in love I’m sorry WHAT, couples seem fine till it felt uncomfortable and scripted and yes I enjoyed the show but it was completely ruined with final eps. I was liking this series but please the company got popularity with the other two seasons they were greedy

S1 and 2 were good because they made the effort but all illusions on this season were gone felt like they only wanted scripted drama. MS and MK was rushed till some point cause yes they were a good couple but needed time. HM and YJ wtf everything looked so good so fine HM said he liked him but we never know how he felt so its fine if he found out his feelings but please, don’t choose him and say oh he is so much fun I love him and then take him on a date and dump him. JS and SM honestly I don’t love SM because he ilusioned HW and then just said no they went on 3 or 4 fuck*n dates made flowers and all, but if you don’t like someone you gotta say i. HW also should let go because boy find a better man you deserve better( I heard SM was in a harrashment to a minor not confirmed) also a big applause to SJ he it the best friend we all want

Over all this felt scripted thro half of it

Well it's actually pretty good

I've watched the first season but i didn't watched the 2nd one (yet) and i like this season but there's a weird feeling to this one, it's not as "real" As the 1st one. someone else already mentionned this but putting "exes" on the show could've been interesting but it got pretty boring.
You can watch this season but it's not the best.
