What Happens When A Good Concept Isn’t Enough..

The concept of the drama is insanely interesting.. But where it fails is in exploring and explaining that concept properly.. You get these really good first five episodes and watch the last one expecting it to bring everything together, give a conclusion that explains it all or at least tries to.. But it fails and it fails grandly.. The drama went from a Serial Killer Thriller to Bullying Revenge to Sexual Assault to Teen Romance to whatever that was in the final episode.. The last episode was a mess.. I guess the writer came up with a great concept but just couldn’t use it to its full potential.. Each episode kept switching genres but I was not at all prepared for whatever happened in the final episode..

I mean who was Lee Gyu Jin?? A mysterious entity born from people’s relentless urge to dig into the most private and intimate parts of others lives?? And this entity brings chaos and death in its wake?? Is that what it was trying to say?? I honestly don’t know.. The drama was never clear about the story it actually wanted to tell..

A few words about Lee Soo Hyuk.. It’s seriously disappointing how underrated this guy is.. Forget how good his acting is for a second.. Just with those looks and that voice alone, he should already have a long list of romance dramas under his name.. How is he being overlooked like this?? I mean, there are actors out there getting way better opportunities than him and their acting skills are a joke..

Overall, the drama was good until it wasn’t.. The concept is intriguing but ultimately ambiguous.. I did like the visuals though.. The quiet, haunting atmosphere really worked.. There were some creepy stuff and a few well placed twists.. That's why it never got boring..
That said, the writing messed up.. No offence, but if the story had been written by someone more capable, maybe the outcome would have been very different.. They didn’t even bother to explain what that place was in the last episode.. Hell?? Purgatory?? Some kind of special club for the S Line Glasses cult?? Who knows??

S-Line's Finale Did NOT Eat (✨and That's Okay✨)

The premise of the kdrama was strong, and I genuinely had fun and felt excited during the early episodes. However, I felt that the final episode, especially toward the end, veered into slightly silly territory. Certain plot points and scenes could have been addressed in a more effective manner. I'm not particularly fond of open endings, but at least the last scene provided a slight boost to the overall conclusion. In all honesty, the kdrama might have benefited from two additional episodes with a revised subplot to better explain the "s-lines".

Overall, it remains a fairly intriguing kdrama that serves as a good way to pass the time.

This has to be a prologue,right!? (please dont ruin it)

I know this kind of drama isn’t for everyone — it has a disturbing and fucked up story, so don’t watch it unless you’re mentally prepared.

(+) Positives
The concept is genuinely refreshing and stands out from typical dramas. It feels unique and interesting. The acting is solid, from the main cast to the supporting roles. The atmosphere really elevated by the music it gives me chills.

(–) Negatives
The storytelling is where it stumbles. There are a lot of plot holes, and episode 6, really feels rushed. The ending leaves you hanging , they tried to squeeze everything into just 6 episodes, but the story deserves much more episode. The foundation of the plot also feels weak. For example, what exactly is Gyujin? Is she a goddess or something else? The show never really explains it, which makes it so confusing. There's like a missing shot like the one when Ji uk with the knife but the scene just jumping in episode 6.

If you’re someone who reads manga or watches anime, this kind of plot might not even be that shocking. I've come across a way worse and more disturbing stories before.

The overall vibe is similar to Moving and A Shop for Killers, where Season 1 feels more like a long prologue for what’s to come in Season 2 (if it has season 2)

I just hope Season 2 doesn’t fumble the great concept and improves on the storytelling flaws this season.(again, if it has season 2)

Drama with a lot of potential!

I was very hyped for Arin's next work and finally I could watch it. S Line is very unique and different from any other dramas released this year whereas it was nice to be entertained with a new thriller and unique mystery plot. In my opinion, the plot has a lot of potential to develop and I am open for the next episodes. By now I am not disappointed in any category, everything from the actors to the screenwriting seems perfectly fit for the plot and the drama's atmosphere.

Thank you Arin for your hard work in this drama so we could enjoy it! I hope my expectations will be exceeded in the next episodes.

Great start with an unintentionally funny (derogatory) ending

S Line is going to be another show to fade into obscurity because of a disastrous finale. But before I talk about the good and the bad, I ought to warn you - this show has several triggers.
Depiction of self-harm, rape of a dying man, suggestion of gang rape and child sexual assault, school bullying and violence, to name some off the top of my head. Everyone has different tolerance levels so I would suggest to read about their depictions. There is also female nudity and depiction of sex.

What I liked:
The concept of S Line was quite unique and I was certainly intrigued. I went in blind so every revelation was a surprise including what S Line means. Nonetheless, the mystery was great (until it wasn't).
The characters were great and I enjoyed the introduction of the glasses and what it meant for each character. Although, most used it in a similar fashion.
A certain reveal in episode 5 was shocking but also exposed the realities of the world.
In episode 6, there is like a split dimension which was cool for a brief moment.
The opening theme song sets the perfectly dark mood for the show.
The actors did a decent job. I like Arin's character the most. Lee SooHyuk's was interesting too.

What I disliked:
Death of a certain character. The reason I dislike it is because they don't reveal if it was an accident or caused by something or someone else. I don't know how it drives the plot forward. Did they really need to be killed off? Bizarre.
My biggest gripe is with the 6th episode which let the entire series down. I don't have answers to (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD LISTED AS POINTS):
- Who was Gyu Jin? And who is Hyeon Hop?
- Who were those people dressed like cult members?
- Why was another dimension created and why was Ji Uk a part of it? Were those people really killed?
- Where was Hyeon Hop's mother all this time?

So episode6 not only made me wonder what on Earth was happening but also laugh out loud at the way scenes were depicted. It felt like the episode was inspired from Dr. Strange and a bunch of sci-fi and cult films and not in a good way because things where all over the place! Post-reveal world was also quite silly. You can't expect things to be that calm.

Not only were the main characters involved not explained. We also didn't get any reason deeper than "because people want to know" which is quite lame. It ruined the whole show and makes you wonder if a follow up season could possibly fix this garbage ending.

Since it has 6 episodes, it can be watched provided you don't get too irritated by the ending. For a decent 5 episodes, I'm handing it a generous 7 star rating.

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT??

It started off so well with a unique, interesting story and just one paranormal element, and then suddenly turned into a parallel world with some kind of goddess or whatever that was supposed to be.

And don’t even get me started on the characters. Half of them had no purpose. There’s literally a character they just forgot about?? The detective who did everything (served looks) except his actual job?? The boyfriend who died for absolutely no reason??

It honestly feels like they had a cool idea but had no clue how to make it make sense. So many unanswered questions: where did the lines even come from? Why could she see them since birth? How did they make those glasses? Why were they so obsessed with making people see the lines? And why were people losing their minds over it? Like… it really wasn’t that deep 😭🙏

The ending lost me

the concept of this show is good and the 5 episodes are great with good plot to keep u on the edge of your seat. but they just completely give up on everything in the last episode. was it supposed to be a cult thing???? is this show trying to convey that ppl put too much on sex/are ashamed of sex?? or are they trying to show it as a bad thing and people who do it should be removed from the world???
maybe it could be just bait for a 2nd season

the cases and the connection to the lines was interesting and i love that the victims/perpetuators are connected. they should have kept that going

The writers surely didn't know what kind of story they wanted

There’s been a lot of chatter about this drama online—and honestly, the premise itself had me intrigued because of how bizarre it sounded. But watching it? I was left baffled. This drama didn’t just lose its footing—it literally switched genres halfway through, like it forgot what story it was even trying to tell.

The characters didn’t help either. Most of them were forgettable and written off without closure (what even happened to the teacher who was leaving for Canada? His sister? The bully girl who stole the glasses?). The only remotely interesting ones were Hyeon-hup—though “barely tolerable” is putting it nicely—and Detective Ham Ji-uk, who at least carried some weight in the mess.

What frustrated me most was the wasted potential. At first, I thought this show would dive into how sex and society are interwoven: how people’s choices—cheating, betrayal, predatory behavior—impact not just themselves but the people around them. Or maybe even a psychological crime-mystery angle exploring where these mysterious “lines” came from. Personally, I think it would have been far more compelling if there had been no origin at all—if only Hyeon-hup could see them, and the glasses simply revealed what was invisible to others.

Since the drama is rooted in Korean views on sex and “purity,” I could at least *understand* where some of the morality was coming from, even if I didn’t agree with it. But the execution? Total chaos.

The first five episodes were solid enough, and I even enjoyed watching Hyeon-hup’s growth. But then the teacher suddenly starts planting murderous thoughts in people’s heads and decides to sacrifice them—only to die in the most nonsensical, logic-defying way possible, with Hyeon-hup resurrecting (?) and killing her. At that point, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. It felt like the writers just gave up and tossed darts at a wall of random plot twists.

This show could have been so much more—a gritty exploration of morality, crime, and society’s relationship with sex. Imagine if the teacher had been written as a natural-born “seer” of lines like Hyeon-hup, twisted in her own way. That would have been interesting. Instead, what we got was a mess of abandoned storylines, rushed reveals, and an ending that insulted the intelligence of anyone still watching.

So, unless you’re fine with watching a promising idea crash and burn, I’d suggest skipping this one. The first few episodes may hook you, but the downfall isn’t worth the frustration.

Good idea, but not well executed

The series had really good potential with an interesting plot, but the ending was poorly done.

The beginning was good, but then it started going downhill. It went from “we are solving a case” to “aliens”! It was as if the writer suddenly remember that the drama only was meant to be six episodes long and they needed to find a quick ending. So it became aliens and a cult? But what makes it worse is that it was the school teacher... Like what!

I think that if the drama had been longer, it could have built up a better plot twist and come up with a better ending. But all in all I wouldn't recommend it.
It's a waste of time.
