PERFECTION
This is amazing! The depth of the characters and the many layers to the story is so good. This had me laughing, crying, gasping, rolling on my bed, shrieking over what was happening. It was exciting; the plot literally thickens along the way. Each twist and turn had me clutching my blanket, not knowing what was going to happen next. The pace and the ending was utterly satisfying (though if I’m being honest, I skipped or snoozed on a lot of Situ Ling scenes just because he was so unbearable, but no offense to the actor). Overall, it was so well-written, beautifully directed and executed. Chinese fantasy dramas are totally top tier.Was this review helpful to you?

The Perfect Enemies-to-Lovers Pair
This is one of the reasons I keep coming back to costume dramas. I absolutely love the enemies-to-lovers trope, and *Love in the Clouds* executed it beautifully. Watching the relationship evolve from constant bickering and misunderstandings to mutual trust, unwavering support, and genuine love made every episode more engaging. Their chemistry was undeniable, and the gradual development of their romance made every emotional moment feel well-earned.One of my favorite characters was Ming Yi. I loved how she disguised herself as a man before eventually embracing her true identity again. Instead of feeling like a cliché, her disguise became an important part of her journey, allowing her character to grow while creating many memorable and entertaining moments. What stood out most was her courage. Ming Yi wasn't afraid to make difficult decisions, fight for what she believed in, and protect the people she loved. She was intelligent, resilient, and independent, making her such an easy character to admire.
I also preferred Ji Bo Zai's portrayal in the drama over his novel counterpart. His personality felt more charming and expressive, and I especially loved how shamelessly devoted he was to Ming Yi. Even when he claimed to resent her because of the circumstances surrounding their switched identities at birth, his actions always revealed the opposite. He constantly looked out for her, protected her whenever she was in danger, and quietly put her well-being before his own. That contrast between his words and his actions made his character even more lovable and added so much emotional depth to their relationship.
Beyond the romance, the drama balanced humor, political intrigue, and heartfelt moments well, keeping the story entertaining without losing its emotional core. Overall, *Love in the Clouds* had everything I look for in a historical romance: compelling characters, meaningful character development, an engaging plot, and a romance that kept me invested until the very end.

No romance just fantasy
So after watching some fantasy and historical I'm done with these chinese genre overly Melo dramatic always, always weak FML , always dying, sacrifice? this isn't the part of love or how love is shown ? story focus is 100% fantasy and 10 % romance? i watch for romance not for other genre? i have skipped last 6-7 eps because they don't show up main lead but fantasy and side characters, so this is not for me ,I do enjoy fantasy but with equal amount of romance included, this is like some Korean manwha I read that name it romance fantasy genre when they don't show romance at all ,I liked the couple so wanted to watch if all historical and fantasy like this I rather quit ,I had avoided this in chinese but decided to watch I should say they're 10-9 for fantasy or historical but romance in these is 1-4Was this review helpful to you?

Amazing drama, absolutely loved it.
I adore this drama. Cast, acting, story, everything (except their 2 spirit animals’ looks in their animal form) was amazing.It was literally a never ending cycle of sacrifice and it made me tear up so many times. I love how they changed everything and protected everybody. I do think that Situ Ling didn’t have to go down a bad hill (I’m kinda tired of second MlLs turning evil once the Fl rejects, it’s an overused plot line at this point) and Fuyue deserved better, an actual happy ending not one where she’s pining over her dead love.
Either ways, overall, this was genuinely so good, absolutely worth the watch.

Chinese Dramas Stay Up
Some dramas drag on if the couple is happy for too long. Other dramas I can watch the couple boil water in real time and I will have the best time ever… I can watch the CP in Love in the Clouds boil water in real time.Ep 29 where he said he has his master who taught him, his spirit beast who respects him, Granny Xu who takes care of him, and then Ming Yi who loves him, so cuteeee. You know the feeling like your heart squeezes because something is so aww?
When Chinese dramas are good, they are amazing.

I’M OBSESSEDI genuinely don’t have enough words to explain how much I loved Love in the Clouds. This drama completely took over my life from start to finish. Every episode had me kicking my feet, screaming into my pillow, and immediately pressing “next episode” because there was no way I could stop watching.
The chemistry between the leads is INSANE. Every glance, every smile, every tiny interaction had me giggling like an idiot. They made me believe in their love story so completely that I forgot I was watching a drama.
And don’t even get me started on the emotional scenes. This drama had me smiling one minute and crying the next. I became so attached to these characters that their happiness felt like my happiness and their heartbreak felt like my heartbreak.
Visually? Absolutely gorgeous. The costumes, the scenery, the cinematography—everything looked magical. Every frame felt like it belonged in a fairytale.
But what really makes this drama special is how unforgettable it is. Even after finishing it, I keep thinking about the characters, rewatching my favorite scenes, and scrolling through edits because I’m simply not ready to let go.
This is one of those dramas that reminds you why you fell in love with romance stories in the first place.
10/10. No notes. No complaints. Just me sitting here wondering how I’m supposed to move on with my life after this masterpiece. ☁️❤️😭✨

good plot and acting
at first I thought it was pretty boring. but omg it’s actually really good. at first I watched it on Netflix and dislike it.but then man my friend talks about how good it was 24/7 so I eventually watched it.
nd the more I got into the drama,, the longer I tried it. oof it’s actually so good..
I am attached to it now, but it’s not my ult fave but i like it sm. at least it have to be on my top 13 Asian dramas..
u should give it a try, it is one of the best drama. 8 is already a good number for it I believe

Unpopular opinion:The drama was good specially and only for the male lead and female and also for the sides characters,and obviously for the villain Situ Ling , i liked very much his story and evolution of his character, written and performed very well.
The story is simple but made well done ,like i said already the serie it was good not much for the dinamics of the history but for more or less all the characters that are inside of the story , specially for the main leads and the villain , because for my personal opinion them have carried on their shoulders all the drama .
It was a relief that in just 36 episode they made a right but a bit rushed ending of all open dynamics inside of the serie ,of course we have a good ending for the main leads 🫠 .
The photo,the colors and the CGI of the serie was so good and pretty but i dont liked very much the customes, atleast not all i have seen on the main leads maybe...a 50/50? 😬.
So in the end it was good to watch, easy to watch.
For me the right rating for this drama is not a overrated 8.8 or almost a 9 but a honest and not beyond 7.5/8 🫣.

Perfect Rom com fantasy- But characters are the real highlight!
This drama’s totally worth it! Amazing characters, beautifully written, all of them no matter how small are significant to the plot. Plot twists are crazy! Romance is a slow burn that melted me with it 🫠. Such a witty, smart and charming female lead! She’s simply badasss, such a refreshing character istg. I must say, I LOVE THE FEMALE RELATIONSHIPS in this story! The plot is so good, I quite love the male lead too. The pacing is slow, but i never once got sick of it. Even the side couples were chef’s kiss. And OMG the visuals are INSANE 😍. The cast is amazing, fl’s actress is crazy good ant what she does. The ending is just soo precious 🥹.The one sided love with 2nd male lead is killing me 😣. I love a yearner, but they turned him into a watered down ver of Chu Zhao. Fu Yue deserved WAYYY better. I hate how dramas always turn 2nd male leads into obsessive freaks- i wish they continued with that sweet melodramatic friendship. They could never make me hate you Situ Ling 😕. Although some of the plot points were a bit over used, they did try their best to make the best possible ver of a story with such plot. BUT other than these few complains- it still stands out, exceptionally. Def recommend!

Not as good as I expected from previous reviews
The plot/story was the weakest part of Love in the Clouds.The secondary characters in this show were not interesting to me. I was not invested in the secondary plot lines at all.
I realize it is difficult to create an interesting villain, but the final villain was just simply a stalker, which isn’t very interesting. Also why didn’t they kill him when they had the chance in the last few episodes? Why wait until the tournament when they had a chance before?
The fact that the female leads adopted parents treated her so poorly was odd to me.
The back and forth “sacrifice myself for you” was the only main plot point between the two main leads. This was drawn out for too long.

OH, WOW!
As someone who avoids Wuxia and Historical genre in chinese dramas, I was truly amazed by how amazing Love In The Clouds was.I had previously watched Love Between Lines, and one of the main reasons I loved that drama was the female lead: funny, charming, and smart all at once. Thankfully, LITC delivers a similarly engaging heroine. She’s witty without being over-the-top, emotionally strong without losing her softness, and her comedic timing adds a refreshing lightness to a genre that can sometimes feel overly serious or heavy.
The plot itself balances fantasy, romance, and drama quite well. While it follows some familiar tropes of the genre such as immortal realms, fate, misunderstandings and, well, spitting blood, it manages to keep things interesting with good pacing and emotional stakes. I especially appreciated that it didn’t drag unnecessarily, and each arc felt purposeful in building both the story and the characters.
Now, the chemistry between the leads? Easily one of the strongest aspects of the drama. Their dynamic feels natural and evolves beautifully over time. There’s tension, tenderness, and just enough playful interaction to make their relationship believable and enjoyable to watch. You really feel invested in their journey together.
And then there’s the second male lead who is completely, obsessively devoted. While that trope can sometimes feel repetitive, here it was portrayed in a way that made him memorable rather than annoying. His intensity added emotional depth and conflict, and honestly, I found myself both frustrated with and fascinated by him.
One of the biggest surprises for me was the ending. As a HEA lover, the endings in historical and wuxia/xianxia dramas that often lean toward tragic or bittersweet conclusions, is mostly the main reason why I dislike that genre, so getting a happy ending felt incredibly satisfying. It tied everything together nicely and left me with a sense of closure rather than emotional devastation.
Overall, I’d rate it an 8/10. It’s a well-rounded drama with lovable characters, strong chemistry, an engaging plot, and a rewarding ending. Even if you’re not usually into wuxia, this one is definitely worth a try.

Good fantasy storyline
This drama follows Ming Yi, a female warrior who had appeared to others as a man using a magical disguise. During a broadcasted tournament, she was defeated by an opponent's new hire, Bozai, During their fight, she sustained a critical injury. To find out about the truth of any sabotage during the fight as well as a cure for her injury, she tries to get closer to Bozai. Over the course of their partnership, they reveal more truths about each other and themselves.The main draw of this drama is the creative storyline and cinematics, which were well crafted and easily transported the viewer into a magical world. Spirit beasts were also a big plus!!! While the romance is not physically intense, we can feel love and heartbreak through trust and sacrifice. The vibes of the drama are lighthearted and youthful, not a serious or intense drama (no routine palace gossip and schemes) -- so it easy to watch and enjoy.
I would recommend this for viewers who are looking for a captivating story and pretty cinematics, and not requiring romance
