Worth watching, A great production, Great acting from both ML & FL
I don't get why viewers are getting mad at the Female Lead. She's a great actress, especially her cold, strong expressions & her fighting scenes are so great. It's just that her character, she did so well for her character. She did an amazing job in her previous CDrama- Love of the Divine Tree. In here also she's doing an amazing job. please appreciate her acting. if you don't like her character in this drama, it's ok. She needs to act according to the given character, not as fans need. please appreciate her work as same as you appreciate the male lead. This drama is so good. The plot is amazing. Don't compare this with other detective dramas. Look at this from a different angle. Because this drama has a different plot. Just enjoy this the way they present it. it's really good to watch. From acting to cinematography, all are perfect. Was this review helpful to you?

A Thrilling Mystery That Outsmarts Its Romance
If you’re looking for a romance show, this is not where you should go. But if you’re after an exciting, twist-filled, and thrilling series — this is definitely it.At first, I had mixed feelings halfway through the show. I’d read comments saying the first part was amazing and the second half wasn’t as good, but for me, it was actually the opposite — and I’m so glad I pushed through.
I’m a huge WXY fan, so I started watching mainly because of him. However, in the first part, I was a bit disappointed since he was sick for most of it, so we didn’t really get to see him in action. Because of that, he didn’t shine as much at first — other characters carried things while he was recovering.
For me, the one who truly stood out early on was Coroner Feng. I loved his character — he’s smart, funny, compassionate, and his development was so well done. I also loved Tong… well, that was before the second part of the show made me take back all my tears for him! Still, if someone ate my dog, I’d probably turn into a villain too, so fair enough.
Honestly, the main star of this show is the writing. You can’t carry a story with just one central mystery all the way through — but somehow, they managed to do it perfectly. There were no unnecessary side plots, and it still never felt boring. The pacing was just right, and everything fit together like pieces of a puzzle. My only complaint was that they dragged the whole “Beiming being poisoned” part a bit too long, but aside from that, it was solid.
Now, I have to say — I was kind of disappointed by the lack of romance. I expected at least some chemistry or emotional tension, especially since the trailer hinted at a wedding and made it seem like an enemies-to-lovers setup. But there was basically nothing. No tension, no spark — just friendship. In fact, I think the real theme of this show is friendship rather than romance, and I actually ended up loving that aspect.
The bromance was fantastic — especially after Zhuge joined the group. Their dynamic was gold.
As for the twist — was I surprised Tong turned out to be the villain? Absolutely. He was right under our noses the whole time, and I never suspected him, not even once.
Everything wrapped up beautifully in the end. If you’re looking for a captivating thriller full of mystery, suspense, and clever writing — this show is for you. The underground cave scenes were especially stunning.
The only thing that fell short for me was the costuming — especially Beiming’s outfits, which looked a bit too plain or ragged. I understand it fit his character, but it still felt underwhelming compared to everything else. On the bright side, the hairstyling was excellent, and the acting (especially WXY’s) was incredible.
I honestly didn’t expect to finish with such a high rating, especially since I wasn’t that impressed halfway through. But by the end, I can confidently say — this show is worth the watch. WXY never disappoints.
Also OSTs were on point: Who doesn’t love a Liu Yuning OST.

Fun, Engaging Mystery
Over all this show was fun, engaging with a clever plot that unravels at a good pace.. It doesn't give itself away until it is ready to reveal elements. Particularly enjoyable that it doesn't sacrifice character, especially romantic leads, for cliché plots. Both the Female Lead and Male lead are well developed and acted. The romance element doesn't subsume the story so things unravel naturally and characters develop, learning as things happen. Even the secondary characters have depth and are able to contribute to solving plot points. The only real flaw is that the Villain Lead when revealed feels over the top to the behavior of the character previously and becomes a bit stereotypical. Was this review helpful to you?
Worth watching
This drama was good. The plot twist was very good as well. The unexpected twist was amazing and I just wish the villain suffered a little and regretted why he did all he did. Though the villain was one of my fav casts but I just wish we could see small of his suffering. Also, the main lead is super smart and he was so fast with his thinking. I wish I saw more of him fighting. Was this review helpful to you?
Enticing, captivating, intriguing, interesting suspense drama!!!!
With a well written plot, fast paced story, no messy side plots, mind blowing twists and turns,The Wanted Detective, has truly impressed me and by far the best detective drama I have ever watched!!The storyline and its execution is excellent💯👍
The acting of the cast is perfect.
Wang Xingyue has truly excelled in this role and is phenomenal in his acting. 👌
I liked the friendship between Xiao Beiming, Zhong Xueman, Huo Dairong, Feng Qingzhou and Zhuge Kongyun.
A special mention of Deng Kai as Zhuge Kongyun and He Luoluo as Tong Shuang, they really excelled in their roles. 👏
The music is good, action scenes were perfect with not being over the top, and everything else is good.
This was the drama that kept me hooked right from the start itself and imho, I didn't find any boring moments, but rather was deeply invested in it.
The plot proceeds at a very steady pace, the investigation is very good and how the group join hands together to solve the center problem of the whole drama,is truly impressive😍
On a final note, A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED DRAMA which is teuly thrilling right from the start and takes you on a roller coaster ride of investigation, emotions, friendship, love, hatred, and trust.
Thank you team The wanted detective for this MASTERPIECE. I cant wait to recommend enough this drama., 💯👍👌

For audiences who purely enjoy the detective/crime-solving genre.
The drama The Wanted Detective feels like a less remarkable version of Mysterious Lotus Casebook. The male lead investigates cases, gets poisoned, is skilled in martial arts, and is falsely accused.Although the production is fairly polished, it’s understandable why the drama didn’t gain much popularity in China. While both shows focus on solving cases and uncovering deeper conspiracies, Mysterious Lotus Casebook stands out because each case is independent, with its own storyline and foreshadowing that eventually tie into the final mystery. In contrast, The Wanted Detective essentially revolves around a single overarching case from beginning to end, with the smaller cases serving only to lead to the ultimate mastermind.
Another drawback lies in the chemistry between the male and female leads. Despite their supposed romantic relationship, their on-screen interaction feels weak.
One strength of the drama, especially for longtime viewers of Chinese series, is the supporting cast. Many of the roles are played by seasoned and familiar veteran actors, which elevates the overall acting quality.

Finally A Dark Creepy Mystery Thriller That Manages To Deliver What It Promised
The script was absolutely great in my opinion. The cases were actually mysterious and managed to keep me engaged as a viewer. The drama has managed to maintain its dark vibe till the end. The cases felt unique and actually creepy to me. Wang Xing Yue was brilliant here. This is not a romance drama, and I loved that it did not focus much on the romance. Those who might be watching this drama for romance might be really disappointed. But the relationship portrayed between the characters was natural and nice to watch. The only downside is that it really dragged a bit in terms of episode number. Towards the end, I was really impatient to know who Yesha was. But still, he really was a formidable, dead smart villain that I enjoyed watching. Both the protagonist and antagonist were toe-to-toe and were outwitting each other. It was really refreshing. The script and cinematography were solid. I would absolutely recommend this drama. Was this review helpful to you?
Wang Xing Yue eyes!!
The complex story line was good. The cinematography was also good.
I watched this mainly for Wang Xing Yue. He is not the generic hero handsome, but oh those eyes! And he can act! This was an excellent role for him, it really showcased his talent. 10 out of 10 for his performance!

The Wanted Detective
Ao final, algumas coisas me decepcionaram.

The Wanted Detective: Where Everyone Wants to Catch the Bad Guy... Eventually!
Playing Catch-UpThis period mystery drama starts strong and finishes even stronger, like a detective who finally remembers where they left their magnifying glass. The setup hooks you immediately: a brilliant detective falsely accused, on the run, returning three years later to clear his name. The ending pays off beautifully with satisfying reveals.
But here's the thing: the middle episodes get a bit draggy. It's like watching someone walk through molasses while trying to solve a murder. You're invested, but you're also checking your watch.
And my biggest pet peeve? Our heroes are always one step behind the villain. Always. It's like watching a game of tag where the bad guy has a head start, a map, and possibly rocket boots. The frustration is real, folks. The show has five main mystery arcs with lots of twists, which keeps things interesting, but sometimes you just want to yell at the screen: "He's RIGHT THERE!"
The male lead delivers a dandy yet intuitive character well, and the pacing is surprisingly tight for a Chinese period drama overall—even if it hits some speed bumps midway.
Worth watching? Absolutely. Just prepare yourself for moments where you'll be more detective than the detectives themselves.
**Rating: Solid mystery with occasional "come ON, people!" moments.**

Sets, costumes, music. It's standard for Chinese dramas, meaning very high quality. The fights are superb, with all the swirling fabrics and blades slicing through the air. And then killing by piercing the body with wires is inventive and very beautiful visually. (My God, what am I saying ?) The first two episodes follow a frenetic pace, after which things calm down a bit, but it maintains its framing, slow motion, high-energy inserts, mini-flashbacks, etc. (Long-focus close-ups, on the other hand, are still illegal. Forbidden !) The most frenzied conspiracy in history. And the editing doesn't give you a second's respite. Great art. There is virtually only one woman in this world, the fierce Zhong Xueman, but on the other hand there are many men obsessed with Xiao Beiming, the “wanted detective”. Men who are extremely devoted or willing to do anything to find him and prove that he is not dead, lost as they are in imagining him gone. Lost to the point of dreaming about him, in a friendly way, of course. These Chinese dramas and their queer baiting are trying; we suspect that they can't do any more, but still, it's trying. Do or do not.
Xiang Hanzhi, aka Xueman, looks very young, and it's quite strange to see a character like hers evolve in this world of men as an equal. That said, the actress is very good in her role as an invincible fighter.
The Mission Impossible-style masks are brilliant ! And very practical. They quickly abandon them, too. You never know what to do with them. Apart from that, the humour is sparse but always effective; we would have liked to see more of these scenes.
There are some minor oddities worth noting, such as Xiao Beiming, who is too ill to move in one episode, then jumps in to save his friends in the next ; and at one point he has to hide or risk being identified and put in prison, but ends up walking around freely among the crowd. Quantum camouflage. Then, when he is taken prisoner, he walks around everywhere with his hands cuffed, but he gives instructions to his former fellow inspectors, which is funny. In France, we have a former president (a scumbag) who was sentenced to wear an electronic tag to avoid rotting in prison like everyone else, but because it annoyed him and he didn't respect any of the restrictions (being at home after 10 p.m.), the courts decided to take it away. Take a leaf out of his book, Xiao Beiming.
It's a shame about the slump in the middle, as episodes 17-18 are more like summaries of the story than anything else. After that, it picks up again, at its own pace, with numerous reminders of where we are in the investigation. So this is not a series to binge-watch, as I did. The series loses momentum towards the end. What a shame. I was a huge fan of the first half.

The most poisonous thing in the world is human heart
The Wanted Detective is an amazing detective drama that blends mystery, politics, and fiction. Although I think the story relies a bit too much on fantasy at times, I still enjoyed it a lot. The supernatural elements occasionally weaken the realism, but they also make the story unique and entertaining. One of my favorite aspects is how the plot transforms the nation’s most respected detective into the most wanted man in the country. Watching Xiao Beiming go from solving crimes for the system to becoming hunted by it was fascinating. The story keeps raising the stakes, making every episode more exciting than the last.
The romance is not the main focus, but it is well balanced and never overshadows the mystery or political intrigue. Every episode kept me engaged, and I genuinely couldn’t predict what would happen next. The drama is full of unexpected twists, and I was constantly surprised by new revelations. Even though some parts are fictional, they are presented in a way that makes the story highly entertaining.
What impressed me the most was the political plot. The drama explores how those in power may sacrifice a small group of people to maintain stability for the majority, claiming it is for the greater good. This raises an important question: when the leader is the one who commits the wrongdoing, who can hold them accountable? If those in power control the law, who is left to judge them?
Overall, The Wanted Detective is more than just a detective drama. It is a thought-provoking story about justice, power, truth, and the price of maintaining order. It kept me invested from beginning to end, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys intelligent mysteries with political intrigue and unexpected twists.
