Review based on Episodes 1–12 episodes

**Never Ending Summer** starts with a premise that promises far more than it is ultimately willing to explore.

For a brief moment, a confrontation between mother and daughter makes it seem as if the series is about to leave behind its conventional coming-of-age romance and evolve into a revenge thriller built around abandonment, resentment, and emotional manipulation. Unfortunately, that never happens.

Instead, the drama retreats to the safest possible route. The family conflict becomes nothing more than fuel for the romance, while the story repeatedly falls back on misunderstandings, emotional blackmail, repetitive relationship drama, and conflicts that could be solved if the characters simply had an honest conversation.

The biggest disappointment isn't the romance itself. It's the wasted potential. Every time the series finds a genuinely compelling conflict, it immediately steps back and returns to the familiar cycle of "together, apart, together again." As a result, nothing ever feels truly irreversible, and the emotional stakes gradually disappear.

The mother-daughter storyline had the potential to become the heart of the drama, but it ends up functioning as little more than another obstacle for the main couple. That decision makes the entire narrative feel surprisingly predictable despite having all the ingredients for something much more psychologically engaging.

In the end, **Never Ending Summer** feels less like a character-driven drama and more like a classic melodrama dressed up as a modern youth romance. There is certainly an audience for this kind of storytelling, but if you're expecting the series to fully embrace the darker emotional implications of its own premise, you'll probably come away feeling that its greatest strength was also its greatest missed opportunity.

Background entertainment. Perfect to leave on while doing housework.

A burning love

This drama was a total rollercoaster making me cry, laugh, pained and confused. I started with no expectations but finally finished watching with a full heart.

The romance was intense, burning and passionate. Every stare, convo, quarrel between Zhou wan and Lu Xixiao was so good. Their chemistry is no joke. Zhou Keyu and Bao shang en did a very great job. Kudos to them.

If you are comtemplating to watch, please give it a try. You might like it.

Watching Never Ending Summer felt like stepping into a collection of memories — the kind that are filled with laughter, emotions, quiet moments, and the bittersweet feeling of growing up. What I loved most about the series was how real and relatable the characters felt. They were not portrayed as perfect people instead, they had their own dreams, fears, struggles, and insecurities.
The cinematography, the visuals, BGM and overall atmosphere add another layer of charm to the series. The performances by the cast bring depth to the characters and make their emotions feel genuine.
Overall, Never Ending Summer is a hearfelt and emotional watch, a beautiful story about love, friendship, change, and the unforgettable moments that shape who we become

must-watch! teenage love and family problems are the main topics

I absolutely loved this drama! I had high expectations and they were all met! It was exactly as it was shown in the trailers. The atmosphere of the drama is impossible to describe in words, you just need to feel it! Each scene made me excited! And all I could do is to hope for new eps to come out right after another! All I can say is that this cdrama is a truly masterpiece! China is clearly surpassing Korea, especially this year! Every new release is a hit that brings so much joy to the viewers!
Speaking about plot, I was particularly moved by their teen dating era. The way they escaped from all the troubles and enjoyed their time together! They looked incredibly sincere, tender, and loving, and they cared deeply for each other! I was captivated by those scenes.
For me, this drama had a vibrant beginning, a rich middle, and a satisfying ending. The entire plot was perfectly crafted and executed. There was no dry middle or clichéd ending; everything was just right!
I can't help but mention how Lu XiXao pursued her despite everything and never gave up on her.
Additionally, I can't overlook how beautiful they were as adults! I mean, their outfits and style were on top during the whole drama. They both looked insanely gorgeous and matched each other!
I’m delighted with the chemistry between Ke Yu and Shang En! Their gazes at each other screamed of the great love between Zhou Wang and Lu Xixiao! Both actors delivered an outstanding performance!
This drama is a must-watch! It deserves a place at the list of the best dramas of 2026!
I think I’ve never rated a drama that high before! It’s gonna be enjoyable rewatching the drama again and again, looking at perfect match of KeYu and Shang En

It's full of yearning!

Just finished watching the drama, and I will certainly take a week at least to get over this. The music is still playing in my mind, the actors' voices are all I am hearing, and the warmth is still lingering...

This drama captivated me at the very first episode, that the very next day I started the novel it's based upon. They have changed the story a lot, some I liked some I didn't. But overall, I don't have any complaint. I saw many novel fans are disappointed with the changes, but they seemed okay to me. Though some ridiculous details are there, but the vibe, aesthetic, music, acting, didn't let me focus on those. And I only find myself every morning before the laptop waiting for the episodes to release.

The drama provides the peak angsty, yearning, losers characters. I mean why the ml says he will make the fl beg for him, and the next moment, begging is what he's doing. He's such a loser in love. He doesn't care being used as long as fl stays by his side.

I really love Keyu as Lu XiXiao and Bao Shangen as Zhou Wan, their chemistry is really what I was not expecting, they are so comfortable with each other, many scenes felt like they were not scripted. Perhaps being the same age added a charm, their acting really was natural to me in all their duo scenes. I saw Keyu first in Always Home, I know he is a brilliant actor. In this drama too, one can really feel his yearning, frustration, helplessness, his eyes are so expressive. This is my first time seeing Bao Shang en, I will say she really done a good job as Zhou Wan. I remember in the novel, it was mentioned, Zhou wan was innocent looking but wasn't exactly, also she is so independent that whenever someone is kind to her, she feels burdened and wants to repay it tenfold. And she asked lu xixiao to not be kind/good to her. Though in drama I guess they did not exactly include this, but you can really understand the moral conflicts she faced. She is a complex character, not the pure, innocent, cheerful one. I will say the actress done really well to showcase that, however I would really love if they could include more scenes explaining her thoughts.

About the story plot, I loved a lot of changes they have done, but one really put me off. Making the fl call ml brother once. It was really ridiculous to me. Also making them live together at ml father's house. It don't think it was really required. One more thing, they really need to understand forced kisses are not exactly romantic.

At last, I enjoyed the drama a lot, the chemistry is what one must really look forward to. And the fl and ml suffers a lot, so be ready to bawl your eyes.

The summer that I never want to end

Wow, this show was so beautiful.

6/30/2026
I've finally finished the entire show, dare i say the best summer cdrama ever. I waited for this show right when it got announced. I love Zhou Keyu and Bao shang en even more so I waited for a year in anticipation, and wow it did not disappoint at all.

The plot was so good, one of my favorite tropes ever is meet again where the two protagonists meet years later, so obviously I loved the plot. At times people did joke this drama started feeling like Never ending sadness and I agree however, this is THE most realistic drama thats been released recently. Zhou wan had such a sad backstory, everyone did leave her, and she grew up poor. Then in the middle, she leaves Lu Xixiao because yes she did come from poor backgrounds compared to him and she loved him so much she didnt want him to get hurt at all. The 2026 plot was super good as well, and healed the sadness. Yes there definitely was some plot holes here and there some things didn't make sense but honestly THE CHEMISTRY completely makes up for it no doubt.

I don't even have to talk about the actors because both of their acting in this drama speaks for itself. But GUYS the chemistry oh my days every single scene feels lived in and real, they are a couple I WOULD BELIEVE EXISTS IN REAL LIFE, PURELY from the chemistry between them. THEY are the ones that made my summer so much more enjoyable. (Also, slightly off topic but ZHOU KEYUS EXPENSIVE ENGLISH i actually love it sm).

ABSOLUTE PERFECT SUMMER PICKUP, go watch it right now stop reading this review.

(Also the ending was absolutely beautiful, they broke the fourth wall but it made it a lot better imo, the actors giving us the happy ending idk how to explain it but its like a "happily ever after", "never ending summer, THE LAST EPISODE!!, we're married!!!")

i dont wanna leave my parents behind but I will be coming back soon for a rewatch 1000%

Bye Lu Xixiao and Zhou Wan!!

A Love and Summer That Time Could Never Erase

Some dramas entertain you. Some stay with you. Never-Ending Summer is one of those rare dramas that quietly settles into your heart and refuses to leave.

The narrative moves between their youthful summer romance and their reunion ten years later, showing how love can endure despite time, pain, and unanswered questions.

The love story was absolutely peak. Every glance, every silence, every reunion carried so much emotion that I found myself completely invested in Lu Xixiao and Zhou Wan's journey.

And can we talk about Lu Xixiao? He is slowly becoming the standard for men for me. He is someone who loves deeply, protects fiercely, and never truly stops caring. Zhou Keyu delivered the character with just the right balance of vulnerability and restraint, making Lu Xixiao incredibly memorable.

But the biggest surprise for me was Bao Shang En. Her performance deserves so much appreciation, especially during the emotional breakdowns. Her crying scenes never felt forced. They felt painfully real. You could feel every ounce of Zhou Wan's grief, guilt, and helplessness. I was literally crying with her. That's the kind of acting that leaves an impact.

And then there's the chemistry. Fire. Absolute fire. They made every scene so special and memorable.

Visually, the drama also deserves praise. Their styling, from youth to adults. The warm summer color palette to more bold and sophisticated color palette.

Any drama that makes me cry instantly earns a special place in my heart. And Never-Ending Summer is one of them. That alone makes it a masterpiece in my eyes.

Just like Lu Xixiao's mother's painting, Never-Ending Summer, this drama captures a beautiful truth: some summers may end, but the love, memories, and emotions they leave behind never truly do.

A Drama That Turns Memories Into Forever

At first, it feels like a simple youth romance, but as the story unfolds, it becomes a beautiful reflection on love, growth, timing, and the memories that shape who we become.
What I loved most was how naturally the characters evolved. They weren't perfect, and that's exactly what made them feel real. They made mistakes, drifted apart, learned painful lessons, and slowly found themselves again. Their journey reminded me that sometimes love isn't about holding on at all costs—it's about growing into someone who knows how to love better.
The drama beautifully captures the bittersweet feeling of youth: the friendships that become family, the dreams that change with time, and the quiet moments that end up meaning the most. Every reunion carried the weight of the years that had passed, making each emotional scene feel earned rather than forced.
Visually, the warm summer atmosphere perfectly matched the story's nostalgic tone. The cinematography, soundtrack, and emotional performances came together to create a comforting yet heartbreaking experience. It felt less like watching a drama and more like revisiting a memory.
The title Never-Ending Summer couldn't be more fitting. Summer may come to an end, but the people we love, the memories we make, and the lessons we learn never truly leave us. They stay with us, quietly shaping the people we become.
This wasn't just a story about first love—it was a story about second chances, healing, and believing that some connections are worth waiting for. Even after the final episode, the emotions linger
I can't get more happy and sad as it has ended,i really wanna loose my memories to watch it again
I hope everyone discover this masterpiece bcoz it was not a normal drama also you will get to see so many plot , as a person who was watching it ongoing I feel jealous from the future fanssss
