A delight to watch!
A successful directorial debut. A great film made on a shoe-string budget with beautiful scenery and funny, light hearted moments. This is a motivational documentary for anyone who has ever been bullied. Zhang Zhe Han is as talented in front of the camera as behind it. His situation at large reminds me of German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller’s words. More people in the entertainment industry should speak up and speak out against cyber bullying. Here is Niemöller’s translated words in poem form at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum:First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist.
Then they became for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me.

Find inner peace
Find inner peace, get close to nature, small animals, and people, and return to the most simple life forms. You may not be able to climb the snow-capped mountains like Xiaozhe, but as he said, "Maybe the sky will not be blue because of you, but your mood will change accordingly." Sunny with blue sky”Was this review helpful to you?

experience the charm of art
Zhang Zhehan's closeness to nature and his interactions with the local people create beautiful and harmonious scenes. Snow-capped mountains, glaciers, grasslands, herds of cattle and sheep, along with those ordinary yet sincere faces, all reflect his inner world. This blend of nature and culture brings me a sense of the diversity and beauty of life. In the documentary, the music harmonizes perfectly with the visuals, creating a serene and delightful atmosphere for the audience. Especially the song "The Eternal Flow of Rivers," sung by the protagonist's neighbor, not only portrays the social environment of the time but also hints at the grandeur of the era and the insignificance of the individual. This perfect combination of music and visuals allows me to experience the charm of art.Was this review helpful to you?
Rebirth and hope
After watching August, I felt more and more that Zhang Zhehan is really a very strong and talented person, every inch of his soul is shining, just like the warm sun in August. At the beginning of the documentary, when I saw the figure walking alone on the snowy mountains and heard him say in a calm voice, "The stigma imposed by the virtual world makes me feel like I am in the abyss", I really had the urge to shed tears.
Following his camera, I walked through Shangri-La, encountered the world's fireworks, passed through forests, meadows and rivers, and then turned in the glacier, and finally arrived in Lhasa. Standing in the bustling streets, watching people come and go, not far away is the Potala Palace, feel the sunshine on the plateau, at that moment, what are you thinking?
In the ruins of the rebuilding of the castle is not a simple thing, but you still go forward. What kind of scenery will the coming August bring? No one can predict, but at this moment we all have the courage to go on.

Was this review helpful to you?
The snowy mountains and the lone Warrior at the beginning are so beautiful together
Because of the understanding of Zhang Zhehan's current situation in the country, a talented artist, but in the country has been comprehensively slander social death, his name is not, his TV series has been completely removed from the shelves, the film has been cut out, and even the case has been filed. There was nothing wrong with him at all, so the difficult climb of the snow mountain at the beginning made me cry. This unprecedented injustice, in the face of such a great injustice, he did not choose a dead end, but went to the most beautiful scenery in China - Tibet, to the human fireworks to find themselves, to find the meaning of life, to heal himself, but also to heal the injured people, this is the reason why I like. After watching this film, you will gain the strength of calm and go nowhere. I like the narration of this documentary best. The writing is so beautiful. Was this review helpful to you?
Profound Impressions of a Spiritual Journey
The documentary "August" captivates viewers with its unique perspective and meticulous emotional portrayal, offering a profound journey of self-redemption, spiritual growth, and the beauty of nature. Through documenting the protagonist's emotional journey in the specific month of August, the film seamlessly intertwines personal sentiments with the magnificent natural scenery, crafting a visual narrative that is both authentic and philosophical. What sets "August" apart and deeply touches the hearts of audiences is its authenticity and emotional depth. It is more than a mere chronicle of the protagonist's personal experiences; it delves into a profound exploration of humanity and the meaning of life. As the protagonist confronts life's challenges and hardships, the film showcases how he gradually emerges from the shadows, regaining inner peace and strength. This process, fraught with struggles, catharsis, and growth, enables viewers to embark on a spiritual cleansing of their own while following the protagonist's journey.
Furthermore, the visual presentation of "August" is nothing short of extraordinary. The film's narrative technique is equally commendable.
