Mature GL for the Win!

Deep Night Side Story: The Two of Us further explores the relationship of Freya and Meiji, who're also characters in the sequel Deep Night. You don't have to watch the sequel to watch this, since it mainly focuses on the main BL couple(s), but it lets you know a little more about this couple!

Getting into The Two of Us, it was so nice and refreshing to finally see more a mature GL pairing. We don't have a lot of them and the chemistry between Tanya and Ning is AMAZING! There isn't much plot, probably because we only got six 15 minute episodes, but there is something to keep us on our toes. When I first saw this couple in Deep Night, I wanted to see more of them and I'm so glad we got this show. In this show we get to hear more about Freya and Meiji's friendship and how they became more than friends (Meiji really had to put up the final test to get Freya to break lol). There were so many cute and jealous scenes, these two are so adorable! The acting is okay. I'm still getting used to the overacting that is done in Thai dramas, so there are some scenes that were cringe. Their kissing scenes and love scenes were pretty good as well, a little awkward here and there but I believe this was something new for the both of them.

If you're stuck between watching this or not, I think it is totally worth it. It's nothing hard on the heart (angst) and it's a good leisure watch. I hope this opens more opportunities for more mature (AND HEALTHY) thai gl's. It's just Freya and Meiji world, we're just living in it lol

Cute, fun little series with AMAZING chemistry between main characters

This is a 10 for me, definitely not a 10 overall but I love this series and these actresses with all my heart so it's a 10 anyways ahah.
The Two of Us comes from Deep Night the series and the popularity that Freya and Meiji gained from the main series where they were side characters.
So the producers decided to create a side story for them and I think they did a good job of intertwining the two series since the facts in The Two of Us occur at the same time as Deep Night (it's not a prequel), okay, something is a bit stretched and rushed but I won't complain about it. I think they did what they could with the resources they had.
The story stands on the perfect chemistry P'Tanya and P'Ning have, they're natural in front of the camera, they're lovely and they enjoy themselves so much resulting in a cute little series made of cute and hot moments with a fun plot and an emotional ending.
It's not perfect but the actresses' chemistry (and we're all here for this) is BOMB, I've never seen something like this.
I'm emotionally attached to this series and this onscreen couple, they make me really happy and I could not ask for more.

I need a prequel of the prequel

It's marked as a prequel to how they got together, and while that's not wrong, it's not a prequel to the main series, cause it plays parallel. There are recap scenes from the main series, so basically you wouldn't need to watch Deep Night, if you only want the GL.

What confuses me is their relationship before meeting in episode 1. They said they went to school together and were best friends, but it's also hinted at that they had a relationship before. For me it seemed they were kinda friends with benefits on and off, maybe because of society. But does that line-up? Meiji asked in Deep Night "what kinda friends kiss all the time?" But if they were f+, that question wouldn't entirely make sense. Unless they knew they felt more for each other back then already?

Still, I'd like to know more about Max and how he agreed to this. Not saying it's unrealistic. It is actually quite sweet of him to help her in that way. But it did feel like a plot-twist.

Episode 1-3 were quite awful, imo. Meiji was evil towards Freya. They said it's seducing, but idk, it was much more provoking. The "let's see how jealous I can make you" trope.

But the rest, ep4-6, was really sweet. That's what I came here for. That's the vibes they gave in Deep Night. So mature and healthy, but also fun. Especially the kitchen scene was... a mess. But that's what makes it so good, cause it just feels natural.

Tanya and Ning are amazing actresses. I've got butterflies every time they were intimate or sweet to each other. Are they even acting? It feels way too real. Not like something that was scripted, more like that there were hidden cameras everywhere.

Khem also had some nice scenes. I love how supportive he is of their relationship, and how smiley he gets whenever he sees his mom being happy. Also confirmed that he knew about their relationship all the time.

~

Overall: The first half should've been changed or at least more explained. Why did they part, why haven't they seen each other for so long? What was their relationship before?
But as soon as they kissed, it gradually got better and the 2nd half was amazing. Would give it a 10 for that, but unfortunately the start wasn't good. I can see some people dropping it, if they for example haven't watched Deep Night and don't know that this will develop into a mature romance.

I am excited for season 2, but the trailer seems to be another jealous trope, and... oof. I hope it won't stretch that long at least.

Would be cool if the episodes were longer as well. 15 minutes per ep ain't much, but also if you subtract the recap scenes, you'd get 10 minutes per ep.

Conclusion: awful start, wonderful ending. Do have patience and don't drop it. It's worth getting through the first episodes.

A walking GL advertisement

This series has so much potential and the two main leads are phenomenal with amazing chemistry!

However, the only downside is that there are more physical and commercial ads in this GL that I’ve ever seen in any show I’ve ever watched and that’s saying a lot. They constantly flash on screen or have a lot of b-roll camera time and the episodes are VERY short so in tern everything feels rushed and overrun with constant ads.

Besides that I love that this show is a continuation of the BL series and has it’s own universe. The actresses chemistry together is some of the best I’ve seen in a GL this year! I just really hope they get a chance to do longer projects with an actual story you can enjoy without excessive ads and unnecessary cutaways. Great watch!
