Due to personal reasons related to his mental well-being, Ozaki Koichi (33) decided to quit his job as a Self-Defense Force aviation pilot and started working as a garbage collector to support his family. He begins garbage collecting late at night together with his instructor during the training period, Hana Hashimoto (20). While collecting as many as 200 pieces of garbage in a day, he is overwhelmed by heavy rubbish, filth, and bad-smelling garbage. A salaryman who find Koichi and others troublesome, a clerk who express gratitude, and people who pass by without paying any attention. Hana works diligently, considering passersby and keeping her surroundings clean, while receiving various looks from people. Koichi feels a certain kind of "beauty" in the way Hana lives.
