Both are A class productions knowing they are filming B class productions. There is a level of heart and emotion that the characters have and really pushes each film to show how much work has gone into them.
Both films are an hommage to Jidaigeki (Japanese Samurai films/TV shows), and both combine the art of film making and real life to a whole that has more than a few nuances for anyone who cares to look for them.
