Based on the autobiographical novel "Yoi Ga Sametara, Uchi Ni Kaero" by war photojournalist Yutaka Kamoshida.
"Wandering Home" is a fictional account of war photojournalist Yutaka Kamoshida and his ex-wife Rieko Saibara (award-winning manga artist).
"Tadanobu Asano" does his best in this history of alcoholism and recovery, but with a weak script and no sense of context. Based on the autobiographical story of Yukata Kamoshida, director Yoichi Higashi should have drawn all human suffering when he is an alcoholic.
Instead, there is a long and underdone section highlighting strange phobias as a result of drinking and colorful characters that inhabit the alcoholic ward. The scenes that lead to the fall of Kamoshida are full of significant, but little emotional weight. His domestic violence comes as a dull joke. His growing decrepitude does not appear on Asano's face or body, this is ridiculous. And, of course, there is the sentimental ending obligatory.
