Mukashi wa Ore to Onaidoshidatta Tanaka-san to no Yujo (2024)

Ozawa Takuto is a sixth grader who loves skateboarding. One day, skateboarding is banned at the park where he usually plays, so he and two friends go skateboarding at a nearby shrine. There, he meets 81-year-old Tanaka Kiichi, who is the caretaker of the shrine. Tanaka becomes interested in Takuto's skateboard and tries it out, but falls and breaks his right hand. Takuto's mother, Naomi, tells them to take care of Tanaka until the cast on his right hand is removed. When Takuto and his friends start visiting Tanaka's room, they are attracted to Tanaka, who is a good listener and kind person, and they naturally become friends. Takuto is able to honestly talk about what happens at school, what is going on around him, and his everyday frustrations. One day, Takuto finds a photo of a boy about his age in Tanaka's room. When Takuto asks Tanaka about the photo, he says it is a photo of himself from long ago, and begins to talk about the air raids that hit this area at the time.
