Both are Period BL dramas with similar sombre tone and atmosphere. The pacing are also similar. While LITM focus a lot more on the drama, IFYLTA bring a time travel twist to it.

Based on tags and early promotional material, both dramas share themes of royalty, historical setting, and forbidden BL romance. This is an anticipated similarity prior to release.

Love Upon a Time and Love in the Moonlight both deal with the pressures of a homophobic society and the tension between love and duty.

Similarities:
- both deal with one of the two main characters being engaged to a woman as part of their "duty" to their family (and/or country)
- intense internalized homophobia (specifically from Saenkaew in LITM and Jom in LUAT)
- both have very heartwarming friendships between the main characters

- LUAT is set in the Ayutthaya period while LITM is set between 1964-1965
- LUAT involves time travel and reincarnation
- LITM focuses on one mlm couple whereas LUAT features two

I recommend both of them they are MASTERPIECES, just absolutely EXCELLENT BLs you will not regret watching <3
