I personally feel like it is an Open Ending, rather than a straightforward tragedy. This is because unlike many dramas with definitive sad endings, the series never exactly confirms Qingyi's death by showing a funeral, burial, or another character directly stating that he has died. Instead, the drama ends with warm, dreamlike scenes filled with peace, love, and the family life the characters had always longed for. The cinematography, soft lighting, and emotional atmosphere resemble a happy ending, yet the drama never clearly tells us viewers whether these moments are reality, a dream, a dying vision, or simply a symbolic representation of hope. This deliberate ambiguity leaves room for interpretation, especially since the drama had previously shown characters surviving situations that once seemed impossible, encouraging viewers to believe that miracles could still happen. At the same time, the emotional symbolism strongly suggests that the peaceful future represents the life Qingyi and Susu should have had rather than the one they actually lived, leading me to kinda interpret the ending as tragic. Because the drama never fully resolves what happens after Qingyi is wounded and instead chooses to fade out on emotion rather than certainty, this is completely understandable for me to feel that Overdo has an open ending. Rather than giving us viewers a definitive answer, the writers intentionally leave the final moments open to interpretation, allowing each viewer to decide whether they are witnessing Qingyi's final dream or the beginning of a future that remains unseen.
