JimmySea Save the Series

The drama really picks up after Episode 2, once the story shifts to Mae Hong Son. The village setting is breathtaking, and hearing the northern dialect adds so much charm to the atmosphere. At its core, this is a warm story about beliefs, family, and loneliness, and Sea’s acting shows noticeable growth here. Both Jimmy and Sea deliver strong performances, and the special interview segment in the finale is a charming reminder of their chemistry.

Unfortunately, that’s where the praise stops. The thriller subplot feels half-baked, with the “big reveal” lacking any real suspense which viewers can spot the villain from the start. The side couple brings some cuteness, but their acting still comes across stiff and monotonous, especially in facial expressions.

Originally, I was leaning toward a solid 7/10, but Jimmy and Sea’s performances elevate the overall experience.

Watching for the Ship, Staying for the Plot

We have all been there: starting a brand-new series for the sole reason that our favorite pairing is leading the cast. That was exactly my mindset going into My Magic Prophecy. I tuned in strictly because I am deeply in love with the main ship and wanted to see their incredible chemistry on screen once again. However, what could have easily been a shallow excuse to showcase a popular couple turned out to be a genuinely pleasant surprise. While the romance is the obvious highlight, the drama itself is actually pretty good and holds its own surprisingly well.First and foremost, the main couple delivers exactly what the fans wanted. Their dynamic is the absolute heartbeat of the show. The comfort, trust, and natural sparks they share make every single one of their scenes a joy to watch. They have a rare kind of on-screen magic where even the simplest interactions—like a lingering gaze or a subtle smile—feel heavy with emotion. If you are here to see this specific pairing shine, protect each other, and serve pure romance, you will definitely not be disappointed. They completely lived up to the expectations. What elevates My Magic Prophecy above generic, ship-baiting dramas is that the underlying plot is actually interesting. The fantasy and supernatural elements surrounding the "prophecy" theme are well-integrated into the narrative. Instead of being a boring filler background for the romance, the mystery keeps you engaged from episode to episode. The pacing is steady, the side characters add good value to the universe, and the magical lore is executed with decent production quality. It proves that a show can satisfy shippers while still delivering a solid, competent storyline.Ultimately, My Magic Prophecy gets a well-deserved 8/10. Even though I only started it because of my immense love for the lead actors, I walked away thoroughly enjoying the entire ride. It is a lovely, well-balanced drama that successfully combines an unmissable, top-tier ship with an engaging fantasy plot. It is a highly recommended watch for fans of the couple and anyone looking for a fun, magical romance that doesn't let you down.

GMMTV Needs to Step Out of Its Comfort Zone -- The Forumula Has Gotten Stale

GMMTV has developed a very successful template for creating BL shows, but unfortunately their formula is now so well worn, that it's starting fray around the edges and develop holes in the fabric of their storytelling. I've now seen over 30 GMMTV BL drama series, and what I could accept as unique, cute and charming five years ago -- in a world where these types of stories hadn't been seen very much before -- now suffers from repetitiveness, and fierce competition from more daring, complex and challenging narratives being produced by other studios.

This series had all the makings of what should have been a great show -- two handsome actors who already had led two other successful BL series, propelled by a studio that has the technical chops to create a successful polished series. However, the material this series was based on wasn't adapted well for the screen. I understand that the book was very popular, but it should have been heavily adjusted for the series.

After developing the plot of the story in the first two episodes -- revolving around murder attempts and some sort of hinted at hospital corruption -- the two main characters are sequestered in the countryside in order to protect the threatened life of one of them. Episode 3 begins a 5 episode arc (that's half of the show's 10 episodes) where the entire focus of the show becomes the two main characters doing the enemies to lovers trope and flirting with each other. There are mentions of the main plot (maybe about 5 minutes per episode), but it's all sort of put on hold so we can watch these two handsome actors do the cat and mouse charm. At the very end of the 7th episode, the main plot sort of resumes, and again includes the two main characters, but everything in the final few episodes feels very thinly plotted, with half explanations about the villain's motivations, flashbacks that explain too much at the last minute, and a villain arc that's so ridiculous it's almost unwatchable. Meanwhile those 5 episodes in the countryside where the writers focused almost exclusively on the romance between the main couple, apparently wasn't enough to lock up the romance, so the couple is still figuring things out through episode 8.

The other big problem with this series is the music. GMMTV is reusing the same music, or at lease very, very similar music, from many of the their other series. It's time for them to hire some new composers for the score and the OST. It's all starting to sound the same. I swear I heard instrumental versions of some of the pop songs from My School President reused in this show.

However, the biggest failure of this series is honestly the MyDramaList fans, who as of June 2026, have bestowed a score of 8.6 on this show. That raised my expectations, and probably contributed to my ultimate disappointment. This show doesn't even come close to any of GMMTV's best BLs including A Tale of a Thousand Stars, My School President, Moonlight Chicken, Not Me, or even another JimmySea series, Last Twilight. So it's unfortunate that this show gets a score like this, when it's honestly more on equal footing with shows like Only Boo (which astoundingly has an 8.4!), Fish Upon the Sky or Cupid's Last Wish. All of which are forgettable.

Meanwhile, for anyone still reading this, you should check out projects coming out of the other studios/platforms including One31, iQIYI, WeTV where a number of Thai BLs with compelling storylines seem to air. Additionally, GagaOOLala seems to be where a lot of great Japanese BLs can be found. Increasingly it feels like GMMTV series are meant for teenage girls, who are discovering BL for the first time. The studio seems to be happy to continue to cultivate this audience, while the rest of BL industry has moved on to more complex, layered, and ultimately more emotionally compelling narratives that have a stronger point of view, and will linger with you long after you've watched them. I'm going to remember shows like Khemjira, The Time of Fever, I Hear the Sunspot, I Told Sunset About You, The Journey to Killing You, or 4 Minutes, for a very long time, whereas with My Magic Prophecy, i'm really hoping I can forget I ever watched it within the next week.

This series delivered exactly what the trailers promised — a visually stunning BL with strong performances and overflowing chemistry.

First finally got to play a negative role, and he absolutely ate that character. The sharp expressions, the controlled darkness, the subtle emotional cracks — he proved once again why he’s one of GMMTV’s most versatile actors. I’ve been waiting so long to see him in a villain arc, and he didn’t disappoint for even a second. Jimmy, on the other hand, made me so proud. His improvement from his early projects is honestly incredible. You can see the growth in his confidence, delivery, and emotional depth. And when you put Jimmy and Sea together? The chemistry was overflowing — soft, intense, magnetic. They carried the romantic tension effortlessly. The only thing I wished for was a more shocking mystery. Most of us predicted pretty early that First’s character was the villain, so the big reveal didn’t hit as hard as it could have. If the plot twist had been a bit more layered or unpredictable, this could’ve easily been a 10/10. But still, as a magical BL with excellent acting and gorgeous production, My Magic Prophecy delivered beautifully.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING DEFINITELY A WATCH!

PS I DO NOT REWATCH ANY SERIES!!
This series was one of the best series i have watched in a while, i want to begin by saying this series did not disappoint and it was truly amazing i will say the things i loved and the things that might need improvement

THE THINGS I LOVED: (why its at an 8.5)
The clinginess and touches was an absolute love i love when bl couples are so fluffy and sweet

Unique plot loved how there was a unique job (being a fortune teller)

Nc scenes where pretty good they where done well

Loved how there was a child in this series i thought it was so cute

Loved the real emotions and sensitivity in the main character (in)

I also liked how the guardians of the litter girl where older “parents”

THINGS THAT MAY NEED A BIT MORE IMPROVEMENT: (why its at an 8.5)

Didn't really like the song i wanted more

I thought that the unnecessary scenes were a bit too long

Some Kissing scenes could have been better

I wanted to see more with the cop and doctor characters as a couple

Guy with the long hair and long beard was creepy i couldn’t believe he was a cop made it seem like it was made up

Didn’t like how the cop friend and other doctor friend showed up out of no where when the main character got shot

Thap In losers we‘re going shopping!

This review definitely contains spoilers.

Get ready to read how I am gushing about these characters and actors…

What I loved:
Thap and In are such well written characters and Jimmy and Sea played them so well. I get excitement aggression.

Thap is assertive and stubborn at times. He likes to bicker and tease. Loves a bit of a challenge. All this is partially because of his profession as a Doctor. What I also really liked about him is how he treats other people with grace even when his motives may be a little selfish. How he makes Tul realize how his behaviour puts In into a difficult spot with the motive of ‚In‘s mine‘ in Episode 5. MMh.

In is soft hearted (or ‚fluffly and soft‘ in the words of Thap) but with a shell. He cares deeply about the people he loves. But sees himself as the source of possible pain and suffering because of his ability and how the death of his parents occured.
He wants to see people happy, healthy and safe. And in that aspect Thap and In are the same. They both want that. But while In thinks it‘s fate, even if he tries he can‘t prevent it and thinks it’s better that he suffers instead of others. Thap, as doctor, has the mindset of ‚if I can help you I will do my best so you can *live*‘. Two different points of view about the same wish. And it works so well together.

Their honesty and vulnerability with each other that developed their relationship was marvellous to witness.

Jimmy and Sea played them so well. Idk if there‘s much more that needs to be said. They definitely acted in ways I haven‘t seen them before. Aaaah. 🫠 🤌🤌 Thank you very much for this performance. For them alone it‘s definitely worth watching.

The moment when Thap and In are at the flea market at the bracelet stand as well as the scene in the hospital when In holds back from joining Thaps family can so easily be read as jealousy or him thinking the same as the mother… I love that it was so much more than just that. I sighed in relief.

The side/secondary couple had the right amount of screen time. It was a nice bridge between Thap and In‘s story and the mystery/crime base plotline.

First played the part of the ‚villain‘ very well. Karn always appeared and acted a little sus, so it wasn‘t hard to guess that he has something to do with the incidents. Why he did it is a different question, one that I could not answer before it was revealed.

The imperfections:
- Unfortunately every time when they shouted or screamed the audio clipped/sounded distorted. It made me jump every single time and took me out of the moment. Maybe it was a style choice… if so it was the wrong one.
- some things were just a little too unbelievable. Like in Ep. 7 how Thap just took over as doctor in the ambulance. Eh. Or also how quickly the police were there after he got shot. okayy. It’s better not to think about it too much.
- First simply being part of the cast made it very obvious to me (and probably anyone who knows him from other series) that a well established actor like him will probably be the ‚villain‘. Despite that it‘s always fun to see ‚coupled‘ actors in roles independent from said couple. So I gotta mention the appearance of Junior and Book as well :) More of that please.

a few little things that just caught my attention:
- ahahahaa, during the product placements I realized Thailand now also has the bottle caps that stay attached. Made me giggle.
- emotional support blankie! yay (at times it seemed a little too hot to sleep with two blankets though)
- this is probably more an issue on my side: in the end when we get all these so far somewhat background characters (Wan and the father) and their emotional clarity and open communication… it felt a little unreal to me because I am so used to the opposite in media and real life. I hope we can see more communication like this.

(Have to go over this review again to maybe find some better words, sort and edit a little. But for now it is what it is)

Story needed more TLC

Jimmy and Sea and all actors did a great job. Let me keep this review short and sweet:

GMMTV just needs to drop cliches and focus on quality instead of QUANTITY of BLs. Story could have been great with better writing. Cast was great and I enjoyed the OST. I started watching this as a filler and was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it.

I just wish we got less cliches and more attention to the writing with less focus on fluff and fan service (which will come with a great series) because the production and acting are there.

I just feel like GMMTV has been producing mid dramas the last few years since 2022/2023. I don’t think I have given a GMMTV drama that has been hyped higher than a 7 since Only Friends.

Again, no disrespect, just start writing better and giving the storyline TLC because the arsenal of talent is incredible!!

The magic was jimmysea's performance Afterall

A very nice drama with great casting. Jimmy sea stole my heart as usual especially the pre-wedding interview, it was the cutest thing i have watched in a while.
The plot was predictable still I don't found any flaws with it. It was a cute, fluff and captivating story with an amazing performance.

A solid show overall.

Doc Jimmy will Sea you now

Third’s time the charm – at least with JimmySea. The duo delivered another decent BL in their GMMTV employ, much to my enjoyment.

The show’s main plot is a BL one and – fortunately – doesn’t get overshadowed by numerous side plots regarding friends, family members, prophecies, criminal activity etc. Or I should say: mostly doesn’t get overshadowed. Like many Thai BLs, “My Magic Prophecy” lacks the most when it comes to writing – hence the inclusion of many underdeveloped subplots. If you want to write a concise script – focus on one plot; if you want to tell a larger story, encompassing several plots – take time to develop them all properly; MMP didn’t follow any of those paths.

The supporting couple plot felt unnecessary, almost shoehorned in just to introduce (or test) a potential new ship. Thap’s father issues – part of his family subplot – were properly introduced, explained and resolved in the last episode – far too late to be of any importance to the character’s background. Also, I’m not convinced the show needed so many side characters nor that they really had anything important to do. And while the writing for both main characters was good, all side characters felt either annoying or generic and bland, only reinforcing the feeling that they were unnecessary. MMP has decent pacing, but it wasn’t able to hide that the story was dragging a little. The main plot has enough content for 7-8 episodes, but with all extras included the show reached 10 episodes; not sure that was the right choice.

MMP benefits from JimmySea and their dynamic – romantic and comedic – but also from how well the writing fits both actors. Jimmy does a very good job as Thap, again portraying a stubborn, bold, even brash character, which is confronted with Sea’s In – an equally stubborn, but initially withdrawn character. Sea shows some range here, in particular in the most emotional scenes, displaying genuine despair and vulnerability. A typical BL performer would fail at this, overacting or going into cringe territory, but not Sea, who showed actual skill, focus and constraint. Jimmy also got an opportunity to shine in an unexpected way: by tapping into his darker side and channeling a bit of Wai, a character he portrayed in “Bad Buddy”.

The supporting cast mostly gave serviceable, entirely forgettable performances. This includes Nut, who was clearly underutilized. If the script really had to include someone third wheeling, than Nut – not Junior – should have been cast as that character. Both Save and Franc gave subpar performances and I didn’t detect any chemistry between them; if MMP was to test them as a ship, then I’d say the ship sunk before it sailed. The only member of the supporting cast I was more than glad to watch was First. His performance seemed subdued for most of the show, but when ep. 9 came, he showed what his capable of doing. That man can be convincingly evil, threatening and insane – I loved all of that.

Unlike its predecessor, “My Magic Prophecy” does not end with a silly break up nor a pointless time jump. The main plot concludes nicely in the penultimate episode, making ep. 10 redundant. Despite of its flaws, MMP works very well as a BL and is a must-see for all JimmySea fans.

Jimmy and Sea have never disappoint me

First, P'Thap's patience and understanding were able to pierce In's cold shell. To my In who was able to open up and leave behind the suffering and loneliness in which he had locked himself away. A school love found and which materialized not even after years ().
My magic phophecy explores our daily lives, the love that is created, the deep friendship that turns into hatred, jealousy, the importance of family, losses, loneliness, belief in the supernatural and work-related problems.
The cast of My magic phophecy for me, was well chosen and each actor embodied his character wonderfully. I really hope to see these actors again in other series in the future to finally see their evolution.
Thank you to the Director (), the Producers () and all those who participated in the realization of this beautiful story.
Jimmy and Sea have never disappointed me (from Vice versa to Our skyy x Vice versa, Last twilight to My magic phophecy), everything they touch becomes gold to me.💜🩵❤️🫶💯

JimmySea Reign Supreme

JimmySea’s onscreen chemistry is just next-level. It’s honestly what makes this series stand out as one of the best BLs out there. From the very first episode, you can feel how natural they are together—nothing feels forced or overly scripted. The way they look at each other, the subtle gestures, the emotional beats… it’s all so believable that you forget you’re watching actors. You genuinely feel like you’re witnessing two people falling in love. Both are excellent actors of their generation. Jimmy brings this raw intensity, especially in those heavy drama scenes where emotions run high. His confrontations are powerful—he doesn’t just act, he inhabits the moment. And then there’s Sea, who absolutely wrecks you with his vulnerability. The way he cries? It’s not just tears—it’s heartbreak, longing, and love all wrapped into one. You feel it in your chest. Sure, the storyline follows the familiar BL formula, but it’s executed with such finesse that it doesn’t feel recycled. The pacing, the emotional build-up, the little moments—they all hit just right. The director clearly knew what he was doing, balancing the romance, drama, and character development so well. Every scene feels beautifully crafted. Honestly, I can’t get enough of Jimmy and Sea. Their chemistry is addictive, and their performances are unforgettable. Solid 5/5 stars. Total must-watch.
