ML obsession with his lover to the point he is willing to destroy the world to have him. he too starts with a lie but then is totally obsessed with him. kills his father. and isolates his lover from the world. they both die in the end though. series is underrated. hope both leads come together in a modern drama.
ML is emotionally unstable manipulative but in love with the MC who is stable and sincere & there is a wife-chasing arc when the MC finds out the ML lied to him.
Both are based on a manipulative (and mentally ill) guy entering a relationship for an alternate purposes but falling in love/obsessing over the guy he has been manipulating. What I love about both of these dark romances is the redemtion arc and happy ending.
It gives so much revenged love vibes like the setting of the series and starting with a red flag ml, although the story is different but it's giving revenged love so much, so if someone liked revenged love will hook with it too!
- Both are dark BL romances, not light or fluffy love stories.
- Both center on emotionally damaged characters shaped by trauma.
- Both explore obsession, control, revenge, and emotional manipulation.
- The romance in both feels dangerous rather than comforting.
- Both use power imbalance as part of the relationship tension.
- In both stories, the main relationship begins with conflict, mistrust, or manipulation.
- Both male leads are morally gray, not purely good or innocent.
- The past plays a major role in both dramas; old wounds keep affecting the present.
- Both show love as something that can become destructive, addictive, and complicated.
- To My Shore focuses more on obsession and emotional redemption.
- Payback focuses more on revenge, betrayal, and survival.
- Overall, both dramas share the same intense “toxic attraction” vibe.

*To My Shore* and *Journey with You* are both anchored by the **"healing through companionship"** trope, where two emotionally guarded individuals find a sense of sanctuary in one another amidst personal turmoil. Both stories emphasize the importance of **steadfast presence**, featuring male leads who serve as a grounding force for the heroine as she navigates a world that has previously felt cold or isolating. Unlike the more aggressive "crematorium" dynamics, these narratives share a softer, more **melancholic aesthetic**, focusing on the quiet moments of vulnerability and the slow rebuilding of trust. The core similarity lies in the portrayal of love as a **safe harbor**—a literal or metaphorical "shore"—where the characters can finally lower their defenses and find a sense of home that has long been missing.
