What a Lovely Drama of Genuine Love and Sacrifice

I accidentally saw the trailer of this drama in Facebook and I was attracted by the handsome appearance of the ML so I searched for it.
The story is quite common already. A girl deeply in loved with a man who is already her fiancé but the man, 2ML, loves his first crush rather than his very own fiancé. The worst of all the 2ML didn't arrive during their appointed time to get the marriage license in Civil Office. The FL crying alone on snowy day and was bruised was helped by a handsome young man, the ML, and they ended up getting married in the Civil Office.
There are already countless Chinese dramas having this same plot. It is already usual and common. However, what is unique is that as the story line develops the ML and the FL have known each other from childhood and that the girl has supported the ML from childhood and the ML has sacrificed so much for the FL. This is pure and great love hidden from the very beginning which came out and flourished at the right time.
The ML is so handsome. His looks is so refreshing. His face is angelic, so pure and tender. There is innocence and purity in his demeanor. He is kind, loving, caring, gentle... yet strong, steady and consistently giving stability to his wife. The FL is so beautiful and simple. They have great chemistry together. They are also respecting and trusting each other very much. The ML is not obsessive and always give the FL her freedom to choose: either to stay with him or leave him, she is free. The FL never doubted the sincerity of the ML even though a woman tries to seduce the ML. It is also very beautiful how the FL gradually discovers the goodness and greatness of the ML along the way. As the story unfolds she finds that the ML has loved her ever since and has suffered for her to keep her safe and that even his business or financial success has been motivated by his deep love for her.
The family of the FL, her parents, are so loving and caring. The story unfolds without great violence, even the ex fiancé and the seducing woman didn't resort to drugs, violence, etc. Much more, there is peaceful closure between the ML-FL with the 2ML. The seducing woman also resigned peacefully after witnessing the marriage proposal by the ML to the FL. Nice ending.
I highly enjoyed and recommend this drama.

Moonlight Remains Gentle is a great romance miniseries with Xiao Wen Yu (as Huo Sui) and Deng Ling Shu (as Bu Wan) in the leading couple’s role. The cast did a good job bringing their characters to life and the lead couple has a beautiful, warm, and affectionate sensual chemistry. Overall, this is a very good romance miniseries, enjoy it!

The FL felt a bit frustrating at times. She chased the wrong man for years without confirming who actually saved her, never defended the ML when he was bullied, and kept rejecting his affection even after marriage despite seeing how much he cared for her. Later, she ran away without trusting him and even gave her friend access to their home without telling her husband, which constantly disrupted their newlywed privacy. Because of these actions, she often came across as immature, while the ML remained calm, patient, and emotionally steady, which is what kept their relationship moving forward.

The ML, however, was an absolute sweetheart—handsome, gentle, caring, and incredibly strong despite the mistreatment from his father and half-brother. Both actors look great together and have solid chemistry.

While the overall plot is a familiar one—FL loving a man who doesn’t love her back, getting heartbroken, then meeting the ML who marries her—the drama adds a nice twist by revealing their childhood connection and the ML’s long-lasting devotion. He has quietly protected her all his life, and she slowly grows to recognize his goodness.

There’s no heavy toxicity or extreme drama; even the ex-fiancé and the other woman back off peacefully. The FL’s family is supportive, and the ending is warm and satisfying.

Overall, it’s a well-made drama with a sweet couple and an emotionally steady ML who truly carries the story. Highly enjoyable.

I liked the themes in this drama: love, family and learning from mistakes

I write a weekly column about two dramas adapted from the same source. I was recommended this drama by a friend. I enjoyed this a lot!

What I liked:
1. Romance - Sweet and mature. I liked that they worked on their marriage. There was partnership even though they married for convenience. Both had conversations after moments of insecuity. I ❤️ the proposal & wedding scenes.
2. Acting - Deng Ling Shu really shone in this role. She lightened up the mood in the beginning of the drama. Xiao Wen Yu did well and their chemistry was good. There was a sense of comfort between them.
3. FL characterisation - It was great that she didn't wallow in self-pity for long. I liked that she embraced her role as ML's wife. She also pursued her career.
4. ML characterisation - He was green flag. I liked that he didn't want FL to pity him ot feel guilty about the fire
incident. He didn't have backing from his father so he worked very hard to stand on his own feet.
5. Family - This is a core theme in this drama. ML's father was distant while his mother had depression. Fl's parents were warm and protective. I loved her mum's sharing when the couple first visited her parents after marriage.
6. Supporting characters - I really liked her parents. FL's bestie and ML's assistant / college friend were wonderful too. It's also nice to see ML's mother.
7. Learning from mistake - I liked that both ML's father and brother learned from their mistakes of mistreating their girlfriends and came to the girlfriends to make amends.

What I disliked:
1. Antagonists - FL's ex was scumbag for meeting his ex a day before his wedding to FL. I also disliked ML's father but both men redeemed themselves.

Favourite scene
When ML helped his father-in-law in the kitchen
