Don't let your husband stop you from finding your gf!
I’m loving all the mature yuri/gl we’re getting from Japan. Ever since I saw the trailer for this drama, I’ve been super excited! Both of the actresses are beautiful, their acting is good and the plot isn’t too bad!Getting in their characters: Ayano and Akari are pretty loveable. Sure, there are some frustrating moments but looking at their situation, I’m not putting it against them. I think Ayano is an amazing character. Despite getting into this whole ordeal with Akari, she’s been pretty honest. Once she’s realized what she is doing is bad, she confesses the truth to her husband. One thing I really enjoyed about this story is that the focus is more towards Ayano cheating rather than her seeing a woman. Sure, there is some reactions out there, but nothing extremely homophobic (I’ve seen much worse in other dramas). If she would’ve cheated on her husband with another man, I think the reactions wouldn’t have been so different. Akari is a little awkward and it looks like she’s always falling for someone she shouldn’t be. I feel like, even though we saw a little bit into her past, there wasn’t that much focus on her compared to Ayano. Ayano’s husband is a very complex character. At times I’m really frustrated with him, with how he reacts with Ayano and tries to salvage their marriage despite her wanting to end it vs how he reacts with Akari. But this is a bizarre situation for everyone. He’s just as confused on what to do. He wants to end it but his mother keeps pressuring him to continue. If I was in his shoes, I would probably do the same thing.
Getting into the plot: I think the first half of the drama is amazing. We get to see a lot of Ayano and Akari’s relationship and we even get to learn about their past. They try to end things often but that connection and mutual liking keeps bringing them back together. Fate is definitely on their side. But in the second half of the drama, there is A LOT of focus on the side characters. The side characters are related to the main couple and they add something to the main plot, but I wish we could’ve saw more of Ayano and Akari’s relationship. We get to see Ayano’s ex-husband move on, there’s a lot of focus on Ayano’s sister-in-law coming out her shell and being in a complicated relationship, and then there’s the friendship drama with Ayano’s students. I think I would’ve enjoyed this drama more if it focused more on Ayano and Akari. I haven’t read the manga so I don’t know if it’s following along with the manga all the way.
Congrats Akari, you got your teacher in the end lol
I wouldn’t say this is the perfect drama, but I might recommend it to others. If you want a GL drama that’s full of cute moments and buildup of their relationship, this probably isn’t the best drama for you. If you want a drama with a GL pairing along with talking/bringing up other social issues and many side storylines, then I think you’ll like this! I personally don’t regret watching it!
