Unexpectedly Fun, Heartfelt, Charming
“A real family is eating together, worrying together, and staying by each other's side when things are tough. We’re real.”Ever wonder what the extra charges and maintained fees on your bill or mortgage was going towards? What if those in charge embezzled or took money from the funds your money is going to? Well this drama is the answer for you. TRUST ME. I’m not someone who finds dramas like this fun AT ALL. I need a lot of romance, comedy or mystery for me to like a drama a lot. But this was an exception cause of how good it was executed by the writers and the actors. Proves sometimes just a single story can make an excellent non-clique work if the actors are good.
It touches so well on the kind of corruption that can take place in constructing and selling/renting an apartment/house. Like shoddy building quality to extra maintained fees/reserves funds that gets collected each month but embezzled by those in charge. No wonder the drama was such a hit in Korea, so many Koreans could relate to the problems in this + even I as someone who don’t live there could relate. I even looked at my bills after watching this for any extra fees they charge wondering that they were for.
When I started this drama, I expected a cliche set up about a gangster who finds out he had a heart + a lot of action + typical kdrama gang/gambling stuff I could put on and forget about. The name and summary sounds incredibly boring, like how can an apartment building president election be interesting? The first episode is rough and generally has what I expected but, starting from the 2nd episode once the drama is set up, this became so fun and became one of my faves this year.
What I Loved:
- The found family trope I didn’t even see coming from the description. Every character had insane chemistry with each other and made me awww over their interactions, they really were a more real family than some blood related ones. The little romance they teased was sweet too.
- The apartment complex residents and staff. They genuinely felt like a real building community who were living together before the ML came along. The young mothers, the lady who butts into everyone’s business, the old ladies who would run after the grandpa and feed him, the people working at the maintenance office. Even the villain who lives at the top of the apartment + his supporters. All of them made the setting feel so alive instead of it being an impersonal prop just there so the ML can learn to be good like I’ve seen on many dramas.
- How non-draggy it was. I thought the election stuff would be most of the story, but they moved past that pretty quick, which was surprising and refreshing. They do the same with pretty much most miscommunication and new plot developments, so there was rarely a time I was so frustrated over the characters not communicating. I liked characters being so open and forward with their words, resolving conflict fast. I know a setting being about a apartment complex and it’s election again sounds boring af, but trust me, they do a excellent job of balancing the seriousness of corruption and negative elements of the story with lighthearted humor, without making it feel like they’re being insensitive to the harm and damage the villain has been doing to people.
- The acting was just excellent from the cast imo, especially from lead Jisung, my favorite annoying but adorable ahjumma Moon Soori, and the criminal ahjussi who I also grew to like so much + iconic in every drama Kim Wonhae. This would’ve easily been horrible with the whiplash between slapstick humor and dark violent parts, but the cast handled it well. The ML’s story of being a abandoned little boy indebted to the only person that raised him, to slowly growing to build not only a family, but a whole community of an apartment complex who loves, helps, and depends on him is so sweet. But still with plenty of action, comedy, and even some scary parts.
Things I Found Iffy:
- The last like 2 episodes did feel a bit slower, and it takes 1 episode to get going for the story, but I was so into the characters that it didn’t relay matter the story was slowing down at that point
Overall, you’ll find yourself celebrating and worrying together with the wins and losses of our ragtag team of fake family members as they grow to love and appreciate those around them. I really recommend it

A Comedy That Forgot It Was Funny
This drama is a perfect example of why mixing genres does not automatically make a story richer.It starts as a genuinely funny comedy with a great premise, strong physical humor, excellent timing, and Ha Yoon-kyung practically stealing every scene. Episodes 3 and 4 were particularly good; for a moment, I thought I was watching one of the funniest Korean dramas of the year.
Then the series decided it needed to be something else.
The comedy gradually disappeared and was replaced by endless schemes involving 17 billion won, corrupt politicians, an increasingly cartoonish villain, confrontations, betrayals, and plans to recover the money. A lot happens, but very little of it is actually interesting. Many of these confrontations simply reinforce information and motivations that are already perfectly clear, making the story feel increasingly repetitive rather than more complex.
That is the real problem: **the drama increases the stakes while decreasing the audience's reason to care.**
There is a redemption arc for the protagonist, and it works well enough. There are also some nice moments showing how his fake relationships begin to affect him emotionally. But none of this required abandoning the comedy that originally gave the series its personality.
By the final episode, the villains lose, the protagonist reforms, we jump three years into the future, he runs a legitimate auditing business, and the female lead has become a lawyer and joins the firm. There isn't even a conventional romantic payoff between them—which isn't necessarily a problem—but there is also very little emotional impact left by that point.
The drama isn't terrible. That's almost what makes it more disappointing.
It begins as something distinctive and ends as something completely generic.
Mixing comedy, crime, drama, romance and redemption can work beautifully when those genres complement each other. Here, they mostly replace one another. The series keeps changing what it wants to be until eventually it doesn't feel particularly committed to anything.
Episodes 3 and 4 showed how good this drama could have been.
The remaining episodes mostly showed how much personality it had lost along the way.

Rough Start, Good Finish
This drama’s biggest flaw, at least for me, was how difficult it was to get into the story. That’s why it ended up being my lowest-rated aspect of the series. The writing of the antagonist was also noticeably weaker than the rest of the series, and that issue persisted until the very end.The ensemble had great chemistry all around, and no one’s acting was outright terrible. Overall, I’d recommend this drama to anyone who enjoys slice-of-life stories with quirky, unconventional characters.

17 billion won and zero romance later…?
7/10 because I came for romance and apparently the romance decided not to show up. 😂 That fake wedding scene had me thinking, “Okayyy, we're getting somewhere!” Nope. That was basically the peak. 😭The 17-billion-won treasure hunt went on for so long that I needed a refresher on what they were even looking for. The comedy was there occasionally, though—Lizard pretending to be their father and getting disrespected by everyone was easily one of my favourite bits. 😂
Kang Hari also stayed weirdly awkward/closed-off throughout, and I kept waiting for her character and the ML to actually develop into something.
And that ending?? Park Haekang suddenly opens a law firm and does audits when the man spent the entire drama running a gang and a gambling den. Sir, when did you study law AND accounting? 😭
Cute moments, quirky vibes, some funny scenes… but not enough to make me want to binge it. And no romance payoff either. 🥲

a mediocre drama
I loge watching jisung's kdramas, he almost always pick great ones. but with this one, it started very interesting and then the plot twisted/changed and became all over the place. I wished they continued like the first 6 episodes. Nonetheless, the acting is so good, the comedy is also not bad, I enjoyed it.the villain is so frustrating, I wanted to end him very soon😭.
I loved the ahjumma, although her character is showed as nosy but she's such a badass too.
I liked the found family part of it.

Fun take on Apartment politics
This was such a fun and engaging watch. I loved the characters, especially the fake family... I got attached to them instantly.The concept also felt fresh. I’ve never watched a drama that focused so much on apartment politics, and seeing the hierarchy between homeowners, loan-owning homeowners, renters and subsidized renters was interesting.
At the same time, the scam storyline was a little unsettling because it showed how easily people who seem kind and helpful can actually be deceiving others.
It also captured the corruption that goes in building during construction of apartments and other large buildings. it's same in real life.
Ji Sung was excellent as always, and the female lead was great too.
I especially liked that the female lead was proactive and had her own ideas instead of constantly needing the male lead to protect her.
The villain was also different in the beginning he was more like maniac. I also loved that catching the villain wasn’t just about the leads; everyone played a part.
For a 12-episode drama, it stayed engaging throughout and I really liked the ending.
My only disappointment was that they didn’t show the kid in the end. He was such an important and lovable part of the story. Other than that, I have no major complaints.

A Fun, Fast Watch
Thi is exactly the kind of show you go into expecting light entertainment and come out having genuinely enjoyed. Twelve episodes, tight pacing, chaos-but-make-it-cozy vibes with the found-family angle between Hae-gang and the residents.It's genuinely funny, doesn't overstay its welcome, and never pretends to be more than what it is — a breezy crime-comedy with heart. The "fake family becomes real family" arc lands because the show earns it slowly instead of rushing the sentimentality.
Ji Sung and Ha Yoon-kyung's characters have an evident age gap, and it does show on screen — but since the show wisely keeps the romantic thread as a minor subplot rather than the main event, it never becomes distracting. A smart choice given the material.
Park Byung-eun as the villain, is the standout of the entire series. He plays it with an off-beat, almost unhinged comic energy that makes every scene he's in more entertaining than it has any right to be — to the point where some viewers online have said he overshadows Ji Sung's lead performance. It's the kind of villain turn that makes you actively look forward to his screen time, which is rare.

Swift, Delicious and fun
The Apartment Job is a money heist series that establishes the players and motivations with alacrity. The antagonist is deliciously focused and well resourced which keeps the well drawn supporting characters actively wondering how our flawed hero would respond. The opponents with their commensurate skills, connections and contrasting moral centers keep the twists and escalation lively and entertaining.Was this review helpful to you?
just finish the drama
it is a good drama but there is a some problem the last two episode is so boring The other episode make build up great story presentation everything is well until the episode number 11 I watch episode number 11 and 12 so boring that I play in 2x the whole the whole drama is 9/10 but in last two episode 6/10the actress performance great. and the production value is great casting is great I enjoy the every single episode upset the last two episode and no imaging there the finish is not satisfy me!

Cool
So this is a serious story without being serious. Let me explain. There’s a pretty evil guy with accomplices in very high places. That’s quite serious and it is problematic for society. The problem? The bad guy has a quirky sense of humor that makes you want to laugh when you shouldn’t, because he’s evil. Then the group doing the detective work to catch this guy, has a notorious crook named lizard, and a bunch of fake family goofs that can’t be taken seriously.Overall, I liked this because the cast are great, and I mean everyone. The infusion of humor while never straying from the core messages is key. I’m lazy to tell them but hopefully you’ll want to watch to find out. Ji Sung is one of my favorite actors which is primarily why I watched though this isn’t quite my kind of genre. Once started, I stayed and had a blast. Enjoy
