School Life Yay!!
School life says it all. This was a light hearted drama for the most part with a few ott shenanigans and in real life choices as teen girls tasked with growing up. Friends and rivalries and crushes and secrets. Twas all done in good fun~While there were things that could have been taken as suggestive scenes and themes, nothing was inappropriate or crossed the line, so if you hear anyone speaking out about it 🙄, you can now set your mind at ease. Give this is a go. It was good and I thoroughly enjoyed it~

Ga Woo Su -Eui Ju Saga???
What an amazing series!!!! Tale of a cold math teacher and a web novel writer student... Different world still crossed the path....Her imagination level about her teachers is insane 🤣🤣🤣🤣She needs a good hairstylist though..I just love Eui Ju's character played by Kim Hyang Gi...
Cha Hakyeon is the soul of this drama...He switched his role from real to reel😅😅
Open ending but we can feel they will be together in future...Focused on everyone's dream not a pure love story....I will definitely rewatch it...It's super funny🤣🤣🤣
Episode Duration only 30mins!!! Why!!! It could be atleast 1hr.Hope they will be back with Season 2.
I'm gonna miss them badly...
Mr.Ga Woo Su and Yeo Eui Ju, officially signing off....👋🏻👋🏻

I hate maths - but I loved this show!
Everyone can find something to appreciate in the feel-good, heartwarming nature of Absolute Value of Romance. Every character added to the story, and it was great to see what happened each week.Since I wrote fanfic myself when I was younger, I can totally relate. I just never wrote about teachers or anyone I actually knew, lol. I was into the plot from the get-go.
The teachers were great! Loved their differing personalities and how close they were with each other. Though we never got much backstory, they were able to convey their bond.
Eui Ju brought that sweet innocence to the show. Her emotions were always right there on the surface. She was brilliantly portrayed by the actress.
As a romanceaholic, I will always look for the romantic connections in any show like a bird seeking out seeds,
And as a dark romance reader, I’m not brand new to the teacher-student, forbidden love trope.
Though some of the viewers were hanging on for any sign that Eui Ju’s school girl crush would transpire into something real with Mr. Ga, it was obvious almost from the start, we would not be getting that.
Or even a time jump to the future where they meet as adults.
But you know what? I was not disappointed this time! I really enjoyed the connection they had as teacher and student.
His care for his students was clear.
Though, I’m with Eui Ju, I don’t get Math, either!
It was clear how he helped Eui Ju develop a passion for writing.
And, I'm always wondering what happens next with characters after a show ends, 'cause, you know, their lives don't just stop there! So, I think off screen, these characters will become great friends in the future.
If you want a sweet, low angst show to sink into, I’d absolutely recommend.
I'm clinging to a tiny bit of hope that this show will be one of the lucky ones who get a second season.

"A romance drama where the chemistry equals zero."
Absolute Value of Romance fails to live up to its fun, chaotic premise. The romance between a high school sophomore and her math teacher feels incredibly uncomfortable.
Ga Woo-su using Eui-ju's secret novel to blackmail her into tutoring is highly problematic.
Episode 12 ruins the tone with a ridiculous twist about Woo-su's past idol trauma.
The "four handsome teachers" gimmick gets boring and repetitive after just a few episodes.
Talented side actors are wasted on dead-end subplots like the school luge team recruiting.
Kim Hyang-gi and Cha Hak-yeon share absolutely zero romantic or playful on-screen chemistry.
The finale uses a lazy two-year time jump to magically fix the inappropriate relationship.
Major school board conflicts are completely brushed aside in the final fifteen minutes. This logic-defying, poorly paced series earns a thoroughly deserved 4 out of 10.

Never Thought I'd Love it This Much
I think whoever watched this drama would agree that it's unskippable. I'm a person that'll never admit that i like romcoms or just romance in any way, as it is boring. But this drama moved something in me, I cannot talk highly enough about how this drama had me on a chokehold. The cast is perfect, story is perfect, I loved every moment in this kdrama and I have never ever felt that way towards any kdrama. Which made me ask myself this question, is it the romance magic? because it certainly made me feel like i belonged when I'm just a watcher nonetheless.
I really like the FL personality, it somehow makes me so curious about her in every aspect, and I love when I'm curious. Plus, the OST is fire, I danced to it, cried to it and it was a blessing to my ear. Since when a show can be this perfect it feels illegal to watch it for free!
Overall, this is number 1 in my list and i don't think I'll change my mind about it. And i look forward to find other masterpieces in the future.
Sincerely,
ChukChuk

A BEAUTIFUL SCHOOL STORY
Just finished watching it and i must say in the end they give us a SWEET & SOUR performance, a must watch one 😅😍. A happy ending drama, sometimes its ok to not to have some romance and make the teacher student story as it is! And they did that and its an open plot for the fans you can make them end up together, for me i believe they become good friends😅😍. A beautiful kdrama that talked about kids situation, international friendship, and how a teacher should support their student equally without giving more priority to just the studious one. Loved it! And there was a lot of laughs, and the web novel parts were cherry on top 😂😍 the characters were so extra that i want to rewind the scenes to see all the expression without missing, i actually imitated their gestures while watching it😂😍 especially of Mr. Ga .. He was living that role in the novel 😂😍. Go for it you gonna love it.Was this review helpful to you?
Four distinct teachers, one chaotic writer and a whole lot of self-improvement
I went into this expecting the usual high school clichés, but it completely caught me off guard with how brilliantly self-aware and hilarious it is. Despite a few slower, slightly boring moments in the middle stretch, the overall plot remains surprisingly solid and well-constructed. A huge part of that is thanks to the teachers, who are genuinely interesting characters, each distinct with their own unique personality. What I appreciated most was how the student-teacher relationship was handled perfectly; it never romanticizes the dynamic, going straight to self-improvement, mutual respect, and genuine personal growth instead.Of course, the absolute highlight for me—and what literally had me dying of laughter—was how the show brings the web novel scenes to life. Cha Hak-yeon completely stole the spotlight; watching him switch from a stiff, robotic math teacher to dramatically impersonating the hyper-romantic fictional character "Si-on" was absolutely lethal comedy. The sheer second-hand embarrassment of seeing him act out those over-the-top, slow-motion fanfiction fantasies with a straight face is pure gold. Kim Hyang-gi is equally amazing, making her character's internal panic so wonderfully messy and relatable. The laugh-out-loud absurdity of those novel-vs-reality sequences made this an incredibly fun ride.

my absolute favorite obsession ends!
Oh my gosh, this show is an absolute riot! Kim Hyang-gi is pure comedy as a secret BL web novelist, and her crush on her mysterious maths teacher Cha Hak-yeon, is giving me life. The hilarious pettiness over those hidden glasses in the early episodes completely hooked me. I am utterly obsessed! I have written a full review: https://myasianbinge.com/absolute-value-of-romance-review/ if anybody wants to check out^^Was this review helpful to you?
Characters and story
There will be have a season 2 ? Absolute Value of Romance is a lighthearted Korean romantic comedy that combines school life, fantasy, and romance in a unique way. The story follows Yeo Eui-ju, a high school student who secretly enjoys writing romance and BL (Boys' Love) web novels. She has a vivid imagination and often escapes into the fictional worlds she creates. However, her ordinary school life becomes much more complicated when the events and relationships from her stories begin to influence reality. As she navigates friendships, misunderstandings, and unexpected romantic situations, Eui-ju learns important lessons about love, honesty, and growing up.One of the drama's biggest strengths is its fresh and creative premise. The idea of a student writer seeing elements of her fiction affect real life creates many funny and entertaining moments. The series balances comedy and romance well, making it easy to watch and enjoyable for viewers who prefer lighter dramas. The school setting also adds charm, as the characters experience the typical challenges of youth, including crushes, friendships, and self-discovery.
The cast delivers energetic performances, especially the lead actress, who portrays Eui-ju's awkwardness and enthusiasm in a believable way. The chemistry among the characters helps keep the story engaging, while the fast-paced episodes prevent the plot from feeling slow. Although some situations are exaggerated and unrealistic, they fit the drama's playful tone.
Overall, Absolute Value of Romance is a fun and refreshing drama that does not take itself too seriously. It offers plenty of laughter, sweet romantic moments, and a unique storyline that sets it apart from many traditional school romances. Viewers looking for a cheerful, easy-to-watch series with comedy, romance, and youthful energy are likely to enjoy this drama. It may not be ideal for those seeking a realistic or deeply emotional story, but it succeeds as an entertaining and charming romantic comedy.

absolute blast
I’m just putting this out there. I laughed at every. single. episode. The cut scenes of them acting out the BL were peak comedy, love cha hakyeons acting as always!!!
The song at the end caught me off guard but it was so silly and fun, I needed a feel good kdrama and this DELIVERED.
The blonde teacher was a little annoying but he made the story so much funnier. All of the teachers dynamics were hilarious and I still can’t get over the Korean lit teacher having crazy tattoos. what an icon.
Overall, will definitely rewatch when I’m sad or just in need for a giggle.

one of the best kdrama i've seen ever
If you have doubts, because of all of the bad talk around the show this is for you:WATCH IT!!
The story is fast-moving, however, not lacking on anything. The plot is something we needed in kdramas yet never got to see until now. It's not a toxic or unappropriate teacher-student relationship, but the drama shows a beautiful bond between them two and the process of a class uniting slowly to a family.
The casting couldn't have been more perfect. They all played their roles perfectly and it was fun to see how different eui-ju sees the world differently from the others as she sees what she imagines.
Additionally the acting and the script are really thought through. Every word they say, every expression they make: You are not overanalzing or delusional in the KDrama. It's all on purpose.
The OST has no skips too, which isn't usual for me. Real Fantasy by VIOLA, Sweet & Sour by SAYMYNAME, etc. It all fits eui ju and AVOR.
Overall, I don't want to spoiler you so go watch it now. It won't take long to watch it through and you can trust my words if I say that you will miss it even when you didn't finish it yet.
