I have watched first two episodes with interest. This drama reminds me of how I was once caught up in the same situation, which is not easy to cope with and/or get out of. Everyone has a different perspective on what is love, what is cheating and what is loyalty. Plus, how you are supposed to be when you are a couple. I am looking foward to future episodes to find out how the acting leads and writers explore the different reactions, emotions and feelings you have when caught up in this situation. Plus, the outcome may or may not be what some people are expecting. But after all it is a drama that has refreshingly looked at what can be the darker side of relationships rather than just being a lovey-dovey couple. So far so good from me.

FADING HEARTS AND BROKEN STARTS : THE ANATOMY OF FALLING APART

“What if a 10-year relationship doesn't end because you stopped loving each other, but because loving each other became too heavy to carry?"

Honestly, before I even watched the first two episodes, the teasers and synopsis had me second-guessing everything. Between all the hints about a drained relationship, rumors about FL cheating in later episodes , and the male lead’s heart will waver toward his coworker in upcoming episodes , even if it hasn’t happened in initial episodes yet , I felt totally exhausted before episode one even started. I’m the type of reviewer who really needs a main characters consistency, likeable wholesome , and this kind of story probably tests my tolerance of red flags characters.

But I decided to give it a shot because of the lead cast. Seo Kang-joon is one of those actors who doesn't need huge gestures to communicate emotions, his eyes alone ver expressive and tell you exactly how much and what his character is feeling. As for Ahn Eun-jin, I really enjoyed her in Dynamite Kiss, making this my second drama of hers. So, giving them the benefit of the doubt felt right—there might be a side to their story and a narrative here that is genuinely worth checking out.

Here’s my detailed take for the first initial episodes , perspective outside- the- box , and prediction for the coming episodes:

What I appreciated right from the start is how the writers laid out the core problem and the breakup immediately, rather than spending half the series showcasing a picture-perfect relationship only to shatter it midway through. Laying out the sourness and complexity upfront makes the a viewers journey like me far more rewarding. By letting us sit with the messiness early on, it sets up the potential joy of watching them conquer that emotional wreckage later, slowly realizing that no matter how alluring a new spark might seem, a decade of shared history—built on ten years of good and bad memories—has a quiet weight that usually triumphs.

They’ve known each other since childhood and spent ten years together as adults. On paper, you’d think a history that deep would be rock solid and unbreakable. But looking at it from my own perspective, this drama offers a brutally realistic depiction of the darker, unvarnished side of long-term relationships. Instead of growing stronger over time, their love simply got worn out. The primary culprit wasn't just a sudden lack of feelings or attractions to each other—it was that neither of them knew how to be truly honest with each other anymore and insecurities. At the end of the day, these first two episodes show how easily a ten-year foundation can collapse under the silent, heavy weight of its own quiet neglect.

When the show starts, Ho and Mi-do look super cute and playful, just like any couple that’s been together for a decade. But those happy moments don't last long because the cracks show up right away. Ho treats marriage like it’s just the next logical box to check off, while Mi-do is quietly falling apart over her ruined film career. Instead of feeling comforted by how stable Ho's life is, standing next to him just makes her feel like a total failure. The absolute emotional peak of the premiere comes down to a single recorded conversation that completely shatters Mi-do. On the surface, Ho says something deeply romantic to his friends. He calls Mi-do his "compass," the sole reason he works so hard, and admits he cannot wait to grow old with her.

Mi-do is currently struggling as a film director, feeling stagnant, insecure, and stuck at a dead end . When she hears through the video recording that she is his entire motivation, it doesn't sound like a compliment for her —-it sounds like a prison sentence. She realizes he is enduring a soul-crushing job just to hold up their shared life. Feeling like a personal failure, hearing that she dictates his entire path makes her feel like a suffocating burden. She feels she is taking everything from him while having nothing left to offer in return.

When Ho suddenly proposed , she hesitates and questions his true intent. She confronts him directly about what he said to his friends and points out that he never actually said he wants to marry her because he loves her. Instead, it feels like he is proposing just to resolve their stagnant ten-year stretch, especially since she can already sense that the spark and the butterflies are completely gone on his side.

When Mi-do voices her doubts, and asking him directly about he doesn’t find her attractive ( by using “ butterflies”) anymore , Ho doesn't even deny them. Instead of reassuring her of his love, he simply replies, "I'm sorry if I neglected your feelings. I will try my best, my hardest, twice and thrice." That response cuts her to the core because it acts as an outright confirmation of her worst fears. When you are genuinely in love with someone, loving them isn't something you have to force or "try hard" to do—it just comes naturally.

Adding fuel to their relationship crisis are the second leads, who will serve later as immediate temptations waiting just around the corner. Throughout these first two episodes, Ho's frequent back-and-forth interactions with his junior colleague, Soo-ah, which heavily hint that she will be the catalyst later who’ll shakes his wavering heart. Meanwhile, Mi-do is set to spend more time with the second male lead as his lawyer, which already hinting us and laying for both these two main characters groundwork shifting feelings down the road, and even if nothing physical or emotional has happened or committed yet from both of them towards to the prospective 3rd and fourth parties later in these first two episodes , but it seems like feeling silently , they are already broken.

She didn't break up with him because she thought he stopped caring. She broke up with him because his love felt too heavy, and carrying the guilt of holding him back was destroying her. What makes these initial episodes so realistic is how seamlessly the story balances that quiet grief with post-breakup chaos. Just twenty-four hours after throwing away a decade of commitment, they find themselves faking being a happily engaged couple to win event prizes. Add in Ho instinctively grabbing her hand to pull her out of oncoming traffic, and you get two people pretending they're done while their bodies still operate on a ten-year muscle memory.

In fact, as painful as this premiere is, breaking up now is the best thing that could have happened to them. If this breakup hadn't occurred and if they pursued in marriage , they would have carried their hidden, unsteady feelings into a legal marriage and ignoring their silent boredom unspoken feeling which will not come out really good . Ho, having lost all physical attraction and butterflies for her , would have inevitably progressed from emotional drift to full infidelity down the line with his junior colleague.

Meanwhile, Mi-do—suppressing the deep hurt & real realization of what Ho meant in that conversation with his friends from what she heard on that recorder and ignoring drowning in her own internal battles and insecurities— will likely would have strayed as well especially she and the lawyer will be often lay seeing each each in connection with her job. They will just be ended cheating each other in a legally bonded sacred vows of marriage .

Marriage built on obligation and suppressed resentment is a ticking time bomb, and breaking apart before taking those sacred vows saved them from an even uglier, life-shattering betrayal later on.

THOUGHT AND PERSPECTIVE OUTSIDE-THE-BOX

While some real-life couples are fortunate enough to maintain that solid, unwavering spark forever, this drama depicts a painfully relatable truth for so many others, the slow burn of routine, where love turns into habit, communication shrinks to quick logistical texts, and you realize you haven't really looked into each other's eyes in months. In real life, when the initial rush fades, the quiet silence between two people can feel louder than an argument. When someone new comes along and notices you, listens to you, or makes you laugh without the heavy baggage of a shared decade, that sudden spark feels like oxygen when you’ve been suffocating.

They desperately need this time apart. Separation gives them the space to reflect, mature, and discover what they truly want in a life partner. Instead of a solid foundation, their childhood-to-adulthood connection got worn out by the heavy demands , failure goals and desperation of life and the unspoken boredom that quietly crept in.

As they move forward and potentially explore new relationships, this separation will act as a mirror. It will give them the chance to compare their new partners to what they once shared, helping them realize whether these new connections are just temporary relapses or true steps forward—and ultimately, whether they can actually live without each other after all.

So many of us fall in love with Asian dramas in the first place is that they often protect a certain purity in their characters, giving us wholesome, almost untainted leads who hold onto an idealistic kind of love compared to Western cynicism.

Because of that, it will definitely be a personal hurdle and challenging , if the later episodes show both characters misbehaving or wandering outside their relationship. Even as the Episode 3 preview hints at them trying to find their footing again, if the show gets heavy into the mechanics of emotional or physical drift, I might be doing some fast-forwarding as I honestly cannot watch main characters being tainted. For a lot of viewers like me , the heart naturally wants the two main leads to remain devoted only to each other—body, heart, and soul.

Yet, when you sign up for a drama like this, you have to accept what you are walking into. I feel we need to watch the full series before jumping to final conclusions about whether the story actually romanticizes betrayal, or if it is simply portraying the uncomfortable realities of relationship complexity.

In real life, long-term couples do face seasons where the initial spark dies down. People get conflicted, exhausted, and vulnerable to the sudden excitement of a new face who briefly feeds whatever insecurity or void they’ve been carrying. It’s painful and sad, but it happens.

One of the main reasons I'm giving this story the benefit of the doubt is im hoping the writer will take the story time of comes down to what happens after the official breakup. Beyond the messy relapse moments and temporary distractions, what really matters is whether the writer gives them a true period of complete separation—a space where they barely see each other and finally stop falling back into old, uncomfortable habits.

From my point of view and looking forward to in the later episodes —- the most compelling path forward isn't watching them wander, but watching them do the hard work of self-reflection. Once totally and officially separated , the relapse moment of being excited & attracted to new faces is not really meaningful but the love of 10 years + the being together since childhood many memories hard to erased , the realization of cannot live without each presence not only in this life but beyond which , the dust settles, they need to sit with the silence, face the regret of their actions, and realize how deeply they miss what they built.

Both characters might come out of this season somewhat tainted, but that creates the ultimate setup for redemption—a chance to earn a clean second start.

True growth in a relationship doesn't come from pretending mistakes or insecurities never existed. It comes from facing them, clearing away the doubts, and realizing with total clarity who actually holds your heart. When they finally stop being so sensitive and over-analyzing everything, stop letting pride , insecurities twist beautiful gestures into burdens, and learn to embrace each other’s shortcomings without, fear , confliction and doubts that is when another ten-year love of them becomes truly unbreakable.

Given that this is a slightly comedic yet full-fledged melodrama, expect a heavy dose of angst and emotional turmoil as the remaining episodes unfold. If you have the tolerance for flawed leads who display significant red flags early on, but you hold onto the hope that trials and tribulations might eventually transform them into genuine green flags, it is definitely worth checking out. However, if you have zero tolerance for character inconsistency, emotional or physical drift, or unspoken betrayal, you might want to proceed with caution or skip this one altogether.

When 10Years of Love Meets New Temptations ?

The first episode scene got me SITTED and GAGGED...I was in awe, THAT ONE SONG in the cdrama ''The Early Spring'' started playing in my head when I was watching that scene, it was sooo GOOD. I am so happy to finally see DADDY Kangjoon in this type of drama and Eunjin in this type of character as well

The story is actually interesting because it is literally in summary asking, " Is ten years enough to stay together when the butterflies are gone?, and honestly I am really curious to see how they portray this drama and what is going to happen...cause honestly I am also intrigued by this question as well. In short, this drama is a very realistic romance about long-term relationships, fading passion, emotional changes, marriage, separation, and whether familar love is better than unfamilar kind of love.

Another scene that really got me GAGGED was in ep 2 when them two were playing an extra role in the drama, and they suddenly started kissing when they were on the floor, to the point that the director saw them and his jaw dropped, bro was like WTH are this two mfs doing? I asked you to just lay there, and he was shouting 'CUT. CUT. CUT', they didn.t hear at it and still kept on kissing...it was so funny, but that one screen ended becoming FAMOUS when the full movie was released cause they kept the scene, and even both of their launched snack they made called Hot Chocolate Chips sold out instantly which caused an unprecedented shopping frenzy, made 30 billion in three months, in which the company our ml works at rose 60% to a record high...more also their LOVE was also hitting an ALL-TIME high (ifukuk)

The fl brothers are also a joy, i enjoy their comedic dynamics as well....the other leads too the lawyer and the ml coworker who both will start developing a connection between our leads and we will have to see whether it will be a connection or a disconnection after a small connection they made together....
