this eatery
i still remember the first time i heard about this adaptation, i was skeptical with how much guts they have because the plot is not mainstream in thai bl. not only that, it's not like they came from a large company or had the initial popularity compared to some actors. but this ATE. licked crumbs off my plate just to savor it and make it linger more. as someone who liked the manhwa and followed it when it was still posting chapters, i am pleasantly surprised with this adaptation. i didn't know any of the actors aside from Boss and Max, and only knew Min from that survival show. Min and Toptap absolutely portrayed their characters so well. not to mention talented actors Shogun and Fuaiz too. i was surprised by the acting because i already knew the plot. what started as something i was nervous to start became something i looked forward to every week. the only thing i'd say not good is the fact that it wasn't longer, it ended too soon lol. anyway, huge props to the production team, because the show was certainly detailed to the point that it is only righteous to say that they did justice to the manhwa. it was a fun ride! Was this review helpful to you?
Too Much Story, Too Little Time
This show was an okay adaptation, but the story itself was very average. The characters felt incredibly flat, with almost zero emotional intelligence.Ten episodes were simply not enough for this story. It was such a letdown because so much was crammed into those episodes, while so much was left out. The pacing made the story feel rushed, and I think the characters and relationships suffered because of it.
Arthur and Sun’s supposed love story? What love? How is that relationship relevant in any meaningful way? Arthur cutting his wrist so Sun would feel guilty for him—why? What exactly did Arthur ever do for Sun that would make him feel that kind of guilt?
Unlike the majority of viewers, I felt absolutely no chemistry between the leads. I didn’t feel much for either of them because the story simply didn’t give their relationship enough substance or development for that chemistry to come through.
The NC was well done, and the actors did a good job with what they were given. I just wish the writing had given them more to work with.
Once again, I feel Arthur should have been played by a more mature-looking actor. Just because you’re built like a refrigerator doesn’t mean you can pull off a dark and mature character. Arthur’s face always gave off an immature vibe, especially when compared to the manhwa, where Jay’s face looks much more adult and mature.
The side characters did a wonderful job in the show, and I especially appreciated that the villains were actual VILLAINS. They felt like genuine antagonists rather than characters who were conveniently misunderstood or softened by the narrative.

A self-redemption journey
Usually you see self-loathing people escaping through drugs, alcohol, or some form of vice. Here? I can say what a take! You have a main character on a tremendous guilt trip; instead of lashing out, he bottles up all his emotions beyond numbness. But emotions cannot be bottled forever, so, when certain facts come to light, rage takes the driver's seat and sets a course on Revenge Highway. This series has pain, fear, grief, joy, greed, rage, intrigue, loathing, and various characters that provide depth to the story. Trust building between the leads was sweet but layered with intrigue and power plays. The uncle and manager characters did an excellent job diffusing the high tension in the series with their comedic relief.
I was concerned that the story would not wrap up properly with 10 episodes, and more so after the events of episode 9. I was surprised that they were able to tighten everything. Even though this series would have benefited from having several more episodes, it concluded the plot well. The ending left me satisfied and yearning for more.

Must Watch
If you're planning to watch this drama you absolutely should. It's one of the best manhwa adaptations I've ever seen. Unlike many other adaptations that end up ruining the original story this one does exactly the opposite. It stays true to the source material while bringing it to life beautifully. The casting is perfect and every actor delivers an outstanding performance. There isn't a single character whose acting feels awkward or unconvincing. The two leads have incredible chemistry and portray their characters flawlessly. Even the antagonists are so well written and well acted that you'll genuinely hate them which just shows how convincing their performances are.
This is easily one of the best dramas I've ever watched. Since I'd already read the manhwa i went into it with very low expectations because adaptations often fail to capture what made the original special. Thankfully this drama completely exceeded my expectations.
This had me hooked from beginning to end. The character's relationships feel natural and meaningful. The production quality and cinematography also add so much to the overall experience. Whether you've read the manhwa or are going into the story for the first time this drama is absolutely worth watching. It's a rare adaptation that not only respects the original work but in many ways elevates it. I can't recommend it enough.

Believe the Hype—Payback Deserves Every Bit of It
I went into Payback without reading the original manhwa, so I can’t compare it scene by scene. However, from everything I’ve heard from people who have read it, this adaptation stayed true to the source, and honestly, that’s impressive. From the very first episode, I was hooked. This is one of those dramas where every department understood the assignment. The writing, directing, cinematography, costumes, soundtrack, and overall production quality were all excellent. There wasn’t a single episode that felt like filler.
What stood out the most to me was the acting. Good acting can make or break a drama, and this cast absolutely delivered. Every actor fit their role perfectly. The heroes made me root for them, and the villains were so convincing that I genuinely hated them. That’s how you know they did their jobs well.
I remember getting close to the finale and thinking, “How are they going to fit all of this revenge into one last episode?” Somehow, they pulled it off. Sure, I had a few moments where I thought, “I might have done this part differently,” but overall, the ending worked, and I left feeling satisfied.
I never once regretted watching this drama. All 10 episodes were worth my time, and that’s something I don’t say often. It stayed engaging from start to finish without dragging on.
I’d recommend Payback to just about anyone—even if you’ve never watched this kind of drama before. If you enjoy strong storytelling, great directing, and performances that pull you into the story, you’ll probably have a great time with this one.
I also hope to see more of this cast in future projects because they proved just how talented they are here.
One last thing: I honestly think Payback deserves a higher rating than it currently has. In my opinion, it’s not overhyped at all. It deserves every bit of the praise and recognition it’s getting—and maybe even more.

Go watch it right now
Bro, I’m telling y’all it’s worth the watch read the manhwa and then watch it it’s worth it or just be reading the manhwa and be watching it at the same time. Like so far there was only like one difference from the manhwa than the actual show but it’s not a big difference. I mean it is but the difference is so good like you generally love it and like the plot is so good and like the characters look so good everyone looks good in the show. The show was good. Acting is good. Everything is good. Was this review helpful to you?
Criminally underrated series
I didn't read the manhwa so I went into this series totally blind. Such an unexpected delight! Incredible storyline, acting, cinematography, and music. Every episode I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next. The biggest applause goes to the main leads, Min and Toptap, who have insane chemistry. A lot of times their emotions were vividly expressed through their eyes alone, and many scenes had me either squealing over their unexpectedly romantic moments or emotionally wrecked by their heart wrenching backstories.
Not a single scene felt overacted or cheesy, which I normally see a lot of in BL series, especially when it comes to NC scenes. Often times I was laughing out loud, and other times I'm trying not to cry. The production team and Min did a fantastic job portraying Sun as both a badass who could easily punch someone's lights out, but yet loyal and endearing in a way that will make you feel genuinely moved and want to root for him. Needless to say, this series is a must watch!

MORE THAN JUST A BL DRAMA
I absolutely love this drama. The acting is so fucking incredible, and I was completely amazed by how much care and effort went into making this drama, especially with all the small details that stay true to the novel. You can really see how much thought was put into every part of the story, and I truly appreciate that. The thing that touched me the most is the emotional connection I have with the main character. I really feel such a strong bond with him, and I already know it will be really hard to say goodbye when the drama ends. I laughed, I felt sad, and I truly cared about what happened to him.
I just know that this drama will stay in my heart for a very long time.

10/10 – One of the best manhwa adaptations I've ever watched!
I read the manhwa quite a while ago, and I completely fell in love with it. It became one of my favorites, so I was both excited and a little nervous when I heard it was getting a drama adaptation. After finally watching it, I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. The drama stayed true to the heart of the manhwa while bringing the story to life in such a beautiful way. The characters felt exactly as I imagined them, and the emotions were portrayed perfectly.
The acting was outstanding, and the chemistry between the leads was incredible. Every important scene was handled with care, making me feel the same emotions I experienced while reading the manhwa. The cinematography, soundtrack, and overall production quality were all excellent.
This is exactly the kind of adaptation every manhwa fan hopes for. It stayed true to the original while creating a beautiful experience of its own. I enjoyed every single episode and would recommend it to everyone.
A well-deserved 10/10. Thank you to the entire cast and production team for bringing this amazing story to life. I will definitely watch it again! ❤️
