From Page to Screen: Payback Delivers the Chemistry
Let me tell you, I really like it.Sun's life feels so painful. For someone who rarely shows emotion, his pain runs deep. I don't know if I'm viewing it the exact way the writer intended, but I really appreciate how his distance from his family is portrayed. He wasn't close to them, so the lack of traditional emotional warmth makes total sense. I like that they didn't make it overly melodramatic precisely because he never had that closeness with them to begin with.
As for Jay, I love his mystery and the clever ways he helps Sun. Having read the manhwa, I can say it was fab! Jay's personality reminds me of Arthit from SOTUS S—quiet, smart, but a total softie underneath.
I also love Sky and P'Kajorn's characters. Yes, I definitely suspected Kajorn at first (sorry, Phi!), but their dedication to what they do, despite society and traumas leaving them with seemingly no choices, is admirable. They still stood up and fought.
And please, Sky and Pakin (played by Boss in real life)—they have chemistry, yow! Sorry to Boss's usual pairing, but his chemistry with Pakin is a must-watch!
Seeing them has me wishing they could do a classic university setup as seniors and freshmen. I miss those older BL university series.
It feels like the actors from those eras have reached their limit and stopped making them (which makes sense since they aren't getting younger), but university series will always hold a special place in my heart as the genre that opened the door for BL.
Going back to Payback—I love the plot twist! I wasn't the biggest fan of the tattoo change, though. I guess they changed it to a sun for the series to match his name, whereas in the manhwa I believe it was a karma eye. Either way, it’s a gripping ride!

A god sent for manhwa readers
"Payback" is a gift sent by God to all manhwa readers. This is the most accurate live-action adaptation of a manhwa, from the line delivery and scene sequencing to, of course, the casting.Everyone did a fantastic job bringing "Payback" to life. The story was already great in the original version. The issues it tackles are highly controversial; while we might not have hard evidence that these things actually happen in the entertainment industry, we cannot prove they do not either. It is no surprise the adaptation is this good, since Sammon is the screenwriter (I love all of her work).
The main leads' chemistry is surprisingly excellent, especially given that this is their first project together and they are relatively new to the BL genre. And don't even get me started on their NC (no-children/mature) scenes—those are just WOW! Pure "wow," "woah," and "ack!"
The production value is great too; you can really see the quality. Plus, the OST is quite unique and fits the series perfectly.
Once again, I want to commend the casting, from the main leads to the supporting roles. Shout out to Boss CKM! He is exceptionally handsome in this series. I find myself wanting to pause the screen every time he appears. LOL, bye!

Performance & Character Highlights
Min’s Standout Performance: Playing Sun, Min gives a masterclass in screen presence. Beyond his nuanced facial expressions, the production cleverly uses subtle shifts in his hair style and color to signal timeline jumps, a brilliant visual detail that makes Sun's evolution feel entirely distinct and grounded across every era.
Toptap’s Lead Debut: Stepping into his first primary role as Jay, Toptap completely steals the show. His performance is sharp and compelling, proving he has everything it takes to anchor major series moving forward.
Storytelling & Pacing
The narrative structure is handled brilliantly. Rather than confusing the audience, the frequent flashbacks drop answers gradually while raising fresh questions to keep you hooked. Sun’s tragic backstory immediately pulls at your heartstrings; carrying years of guilt over the deaths of his mother and younger brother, he blames himself for a tragedy he didn't cause. The realization that the ultimate betrayal came from someone he trusted turns his grief into a fiery drive for vengeance that propels the entire plot.
Chemistry & Maturity
The romantic dynamic between the leads is explosive. The intense kiss at the end of Episode 3 stands out as a memorable turning point, offering a genuine, passionate connection rather than a timid, staged moment. The intimate scenes throughout the show are unapologetically mature, passionate, and grounded, making Payback a refreshing, top-tier entry for fans of mature BL dramas.
Final Verdict & Recommendation
If you are looking for a mature, gripping BL that goes beyond typical romance clichés to deliver complex characters, intense drama, and top-tier chemistry, Payback is an absolute must-watch. Highly recommended!

The headline is that its a must watch bl
I loved this show so much and i re watched it 5 times just because of the story line after the drama i read the manhwa also which shows that its the exact same thing just the live action of the manhwa and most importantly the actors , the acting is so natural it feels like there is not a camera they are just being themselves which is a great thing i loved this bl so so much and mostly i love all the characters in this bl this is so amazing 😍Was this review helpful to you?
Masterpiece
I'm a fan of the manhwa, so at at first i was sceptical of how would thai adapt the drama. But soon after i watched the first episode, it was blew me away. It was so good. The casts are looks straight out of the manhwa. They keep the actor's mannerism, the clothes, even the background looks just like the manhwa. And the acting are top notch. I couldn't tell the main leads are newbies. This is a perfect adaptation. There are some minor lacking, such as, the plot seems slow moving in the middle since the writers adding too many unnecessary improvisation of side character's scene, they didn't include all of Jay's the trivia questions and some of memorable Jay-Sun's scene are left out to give space to side characters like Sky and Pakin. But overall this is hands down the best thai BL drama to me. It means it even surpassed Bad buddy, last twilight, triage (my top three). Was this review helpful to you?

A BL That Actually Has Me Invested in the Story
What I really like about this series is that it has a compelling storyline beyond the fact that it's a BL. I'm genuinely curious about what steps he'll take next in his quest for revenge, rather than simply wondering when he'll fall in love with the other lead. There are so many unanswered questions that keep me hooked. Is the bunny actually Sun? Does the director/partner, Jay, have his own hidden agenda? And in all of this revenge, what exactly is Jay's motive?
That's why I'll be watching this weekly. My curiosity simply won't allow me to wait until all the episodes are released before finding out what happens next.

It's Lezhin?
Tbh, sometimes, I'm lost in the story setting. Like there are actions that felt no reasons. Or like I'm watching a cut out versions and put together. Maybe it's the directional. My worst point here only is the freaking background music. It's too much, and become unnecessary. Still continue watching this. We'll see.
(Edit ep 5) it definitely picks up. Now I'm hooked.
(Edit ep 8) it's the peak, not becauss of nc scene, but the storyline. It's like casting a bow. Tugging into the strings before releasing it. Like that feeling. Earlier chapters are much like too slow paced, while it prepare for release. Release of pent up emotions, of all being hold up.

THE KISS
ONE THING: THE KISS IN THE END OF EPISODE 3, PLS I DIED.LIKE GOSH DANG, i was not expecting anything but That kissssssss just proved that this is gonna be a banger. No NC scene can compare rn. I'm just so excited to watch it now, and the leads look really good together.
P.s i need to fill some words because mdl wont let me post the review unless it's 300 words like shutup

Boring
The series could have been better but not sure why the NC was needed to show ass that looks like a child especially having with mask. So lame. The story had the storyline that could have been interesting, but no ... it felt like a mess and the acting could have been way better. Clearly I am not going to blame the cast but instead the director and story line writers for making it feel like a mess with like of purpose and storyflow and the chemistry does not work, but feel forced. Horrible, could have been better. Was this review helpful to you?
Great drama
This drama is amazing. The actors portrayed the emotions so well—personally, I felt every single one of them—and the chemistry between them was fantastic. I haven't seen a better drama than this one. This is what you call REVENGE. Everything about it is top-notch. To anyone who hasn't watched it yet, I say: DO IT!Was this review helpful to you?

GREAT SHOW, WORTH THE WATCH
Everything about it is amazing. From the story, to the actinh, to the visuals and OST. Loved it so much. When Jay walked into that meeting and put everyone in their place. When everyone in that board meeting found out who Jay's mother was; the look of shock and disbelief and fear on all of their faces made me laugh. When Sun opened up and said he wanted to touch Jay I was shooketh, because he's so closed off. After that episode 9, I was scared this would be a sad episode, but thankfully, I was wrong.
I will be re-watching Payback later for sure!
