More then your average TL drama

I really love aspects of this drama. one of my favorite things it does is start out as if is your regular romance late night jdrama, but then in ep. 3 your like hmm wait?? and then episode 4 & 5 comes, and you're absolutely hooked. it has just the right amount of dark romance that I enjoy.

my biggest critique is that the intrigue started way too late and the ending is rushed. We could have gone a full 10 ep to really flush out this emotional turmoil. Despite these, i still think it's great.

I will recommend this to any rei lovers. Definitely one of his best dramas so far and hope he gets more of these types of characters in the future.

Bland...Lacked some depth to get into it

I usually love friends-to-lovers trope but this drama, while centred around it, felt super bland to me. It lacked some spice or gripping factor to get me invested...And the way the tone of the series shifted but was superficially addressed did not sit very well with me...

Regarding the acting, I did not feel very impressed by the chemistry between the leads but to be honest, the script and the way the characters were relatively empty and one note, probably did not help them...Maybe the male lead role had a bit more meat but the female lead role was really more an empty vessel than anything else...Any of the inner and outside conflicts that happened was resolved so quickly that it felt lacking.

I would not recommend this to people as it felt like a very mid run-of-the-mill office josei story. Would it have been spicier, crazier or simply more heartfelt, it could have been good...But here it remained at a very mid level, with nothing outstanding nor memorable.

Good start ...but lost a good story

This starts out with an innocent story of two long time friends wanting to take it a step further in their relationship. It appears to be a good story in the beginning, and even gets better as a few sub plots and antagonists emerge about a third of the way through the drama. However, just as the series seems to be picking up steam, it stalls with the final couple episodes.
The two protagonists really never create that strong chemistry together. It starts to form, but just never happens in a strong sense.
The last couple episodes appear to bring new life to the story, but even that goes off the tracks. They do resolve most of the issues happening throughout the series, but things really get rushed in the final episode. I think they could have either extended another episode or cut a few slow times from earlier episodes and given the main plot a bit more to develop on screen.

A cool premise that needed to move along

Let's End Our Friendship Now starts with an interesting setup and the kind of messy relationship dynamics that made me think this could turn into a really entertaining little jdrama. Unfortunately, for a story that is only seven episodes long, it sure knows how to drag its feet. The biggest problem is pacing. There is potential here, but some of the developments feel stretched rather than genuinely explored. Seven episodes should be more than enough to tell a tight, engaging story.

I watch this jdrama as it aired and I think this might have worked much better as a binge watch. Watching the episodes back-to-back could make the slower pacing feel less noticeable and give the story a better sense of momentum. As a weekly watch, though, the gaps between episodes make the dragging even more apparent.

It's not a bad drama by any means. The premise and chemistry between the leads are genuinely good, and there are enough interesting dynamics to keep you curious about where things will go. I just wish the writing had trusted its own premise a little more and moved the story forward instead of circling around it.

A promising premise, seven episodes, and somehow still not enough momentum. This is probably one of those dramas that might be better consumed in one sitting than experienced week by week. So, now that the the entire jdrama is available on Viki, future audiences might enjoy it more than me.
