I hadn’t heard of this series until it popped up in my iQIYI top picks. Dual Stars is proof that you can make a great show on a low budget. In just six 20-something-minute episodes, they managed to tell a cute enemies-to-lovers story about two actors with opposite personalities at different points in their careers who are forced to work together on a controversial BL movie. I loved how what started as a fake romance turned into the real deal. Xu Xinglang is exactly the safe haven Jian Mo needed. Alan Chen and Ray Chen have such cute chemistry and delivered really solid performances. I’ll definitely be checking out their other shows. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it was engaging enough to keep me hooked. It's definitely worth a watch. Also, I am absolutely obsessed with the OST.

P.S. 1: Is the director of the show also Jian Mo’s manager? 🤔

Both good and bad at the same time but i binge watched it

The drama is the literal definition of good and bad at the same time but then you can't stop watching 🤭.

When i started watching it. Everything looked good to me. I was wondering why the comments said otherwise but now I get it. The drama definitely needed more than 6 episodes. 6 wasn't enough. You could see them slowly falling for each other but the suddenly they're in love and dating. The pacing went off there. Plot wise, It's cliché but then fun to watch.

Coming to the acting... i really feel it needed work. The actors had chemistry but also didn't. I don't mind not having NCs but faking it soo badly is another thing😅. They really don't kiss but instead use the camera angle trick multiple times and when intimate scenes come up you can see the awkwardness through the screen.

The actor playing Jian Mo (Ray Chen) there were multiple times I couldn't understand his emotions. Like the scene after they sleep together.. he was supposed to show awkward, flustered and sky emotions but then he showed fear. I was wondering if he had some kind of trauma. Also the scene where the company asked him to sign the contract was supposed to be something emotional but that went flat.. there were multiple places this happens.

Although Xing Lang (Alan Chen) was better his emotions were off at times. Like the scene where he is supposed to be forceful towards jian mo's character... he was wayy softer. Etc

Anyways it was a fun watch. I kinda enjoyed it despite it's flaws🤣🤣

ima be the odd one out

this was ok - nothing to write home about - as the one that carried this to the end - was the actor playing Xu Xinlang.
it took me until ep 3 to start getting interested in the plot/mains, as the acting left a lot to be desired & i get that Jian Mo was an introvert that (maybe) cause of the initial sexual harrasment & almost assault, was more weary then the average introvert. but most of the time he just didn't emote & even at the end (his last declaration of love) was dead faced (for want of a better description) & given everything he & Xu Xinlang had been through - it was ridiculous acting - sorry.

so Xu Xinlang was the one that carried this drama to the end & did much of the heavy lifting throughout - IMO & if this was a Chinese BL i would somehow understand the end product, but given this a Taiwanese BL, my expectation's r higher given the level of acting & production i usually encounter.... the standard's r higher & this fell short on every aspect.

so i don't get others giving this above 5 stars let alone more. this was short & ok for a 1 off, heck i am being too generous giving this 3 stars. the actor playing Jian Mo needs more experience or better direction. the actor playing Xu Xinlang did a better job playing his role & he was more comfortable in the NC scenes. will be happy to see more of him in BL's or anything, but wish better luck to all in their future projects.
