the scene at the start, was Zhang Zhun genuinely…

the scene at the start, was Zhang Zhun genuinely terrified if Zhen Xin's feelings for him were nothing but lust, something that would fade with time. that's why finding out about the pic's & that night (that he was sure was just a wet dream) was a reality scared him into doubting Zhen Xin's true feelings for him. & as he just found out he was venting & am sure he didn't expect Zhen Xin to lash out & say they should break-up. heck Zhang Zhun made is clear he loved Zhen Xin, he even told him he loved him but he added a "but" & Zhen Xin focused on the "but" & not of the fact that Zhang Zhun still loves him. that's why like a moron he told the Qin Xun'er that Zhang Zhun wanted the break-up. when he was the one that declared it before walking out. we all know that given time Zhang Zhun would've calmed down & Zhen Xin could've/should've reassured him about how committed he was to Zhang Zhun & their relationship. but Zhen Xin keeps forgetting that they NOT on even standing & Zhang Zhun has more to lose - oh well, everyone in their feelings lol... ugh& "Ms" Qin for sure not helping matters, if anything he is getting exactly what he wants Zhang Zhun far away from his beloved shining star. that's why i kinda didn't get why he goes to see Zhang Zhun's grandmother or why after telling Zhen Xin off / reminding him to keep his distance from Zhang Zhun at the premier he then turns around & is encouraging Zhang Zhun to go after his heart - like WTF is the dude bipolar?!? side note: until this ep i really disliked Qin Xun'er, but she was adorably sweet in this last ep & i found her funny & sweet. better luck next time.

I was lost and never found myself again

I did my review on episode 11 stating I am on the fence with this series and wait u til last episode whether I like it or not. TBH and please don’t get upset but the way this show was written and the screenplay left me with more questions. I understand the ending which you have to wait until the credit ends to explain the why…but…in my own opinion the trope of a show within a show within another show is not easy to execute. It’s like watching Nolan’s “Tenet” which is a beautiful movie but needs several rewatch to catch up. Because of this confusion I also struggle with their romance, I was looking or grasping to find it from the beginning and truly never found it even til the end. Maybe I’m overthinking this series and like everything lose, what’s good for the gander may not necessarily be good for the goose. I am looking forward to future shows of these actors though hopefully not together. The music though, ecclectic and mostly English was done very well.

A terrific ending

Never a boring moment. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this show. It was filmed in a way that made me feel completely immersed in their scenes. I found myself questioning myself a few times whether I was in the drama, or in the drama within the drama. How surreal is that?! I do tend to give leeway to rookie actors, but in this case, it was unnecessary. Ollie and Shu Yuan were fantastic!!

This is one of the most beautifully shot series I've ever seen!

What can I say. Honestly even if I say a lot it won't be enough. So lets start from the beginning.I initially watching this series coz I was bored and thus wasn't expecting much of it. The first 3 episodes kept me hooked and coming back for more but by then I was just more intrigued about how the story will progress and also some of the themes explored in this one are a first for chinese BLs, and can be considered a milestone so ofc I kept watching. By then I knew nothing of the actors, director or the novel itself..and how much all of this will consume my time and attention.Every shot, every scene looks beautiful, and the actors, considering they are rookies deliver outstanding performances. Initially I felt like Shu yuan at times had a wooden face, but even he showed major improvement by the end that it looked completely natural. But those are the add-ons..the real heart of this show and why this had such a huge impact on me are the characters and the plot. This is the first time something like this has been explored, atleast in the BL genre, and I appreciate it just for that. But the secondary characters, Fang Chi and Gao Zhun, felt so real to me I was sometimes more immersed in their relationship than our main couple. Idk if it was the melancholic music that played whenever the two interacted, or the OST, which is absolutely stunning, but they invoked an emotion in me which I've rarely felt. Maybe its coz I've seen many people suffer through things a lot similar, but they don't have a happy ending in reality. And after hearing of what happened in the novel, I NEEDED them to get one. So I loved the changes the director made in this. I cannot praise each of the people involved individually, but they all deserved it. Finally Ollie and Shu yuan, the male leads convinced me with their chemistry, even when they were just talking you could feel the tension between them. They'll collaborate soon so I hope everyone supports these actors and the director!
