The pottery produced in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, is made through a long-standing tradition of craftsmanship, with each piece created through the collective efforts of local artisans specializing in different stages of production. Much of it has become an everyday part of people's lives. Born and raised in Hasami, Aoko works as a porcelain painter and enjoys the quiet rhythm of her daily work. One day, Tatsuki, a solitary ceramic artist from Finland, arrives in town. Declaring that his pottery has no need for painted decoration, Tatsuki's words leave Aoko feeling as though he has rejected not only her craft, but also the town and everyone who helps create its ceramics. Yet as she witnesses the beauty and artistry of the vessels he creates, Aoko gradually finds herself drawn to his work—and to the man behind it.
