BL Drama ni Onna wa Iranai (2026)

Lowkey cringe but endearing

Watched on the FOD Short app with English subtitles!

I wouldn't say this was particularly good as there were definitely clumsy performances and writing/directing decisions, but it had an earnestness to it that made it an endearing watch. It was actually weirdly nostalgic because it pulls heavily from the hidden identity/gender bend stories that were all the rage 15-20 years ago but are quite rare now, and it honestly doesn't really do much different to update the concept to modern times either lol, except maybe the love interests here spend less time fretting about whether being attracted to Hikaru means they're gay and are more open to the possibility. The romance was on the subtle side, which I think ultimately worked since a lot of this drama leaned towards goofy and exaggerated. Not a must-watch by any means, but give it a shot if you want something short and sweet!
