Satoshi is an unemployed, spineless young man who lives with his parents and spends his days lazing around. Trapped in a pathetic routine of being shaken down for money by local delinquents, he decides to break free from his life and takes a part-time job directing traffic. While working at construction sites, waving a red traffic baton and being mocked by unreasonable drivers, he meets Chiko, a hot-tempered, blond-haired delinquent woman who is his complete opposite. "If you're gonna apologize, at least show me you've got some guts." At first, the strong-willed Chiko terrifies Satoshi, but as he discovers her kindhearted side, he finds himself falling for her more and more. Before long, Satoshi begins doing everything he can, in his own timid and clumsy way, to protect her. Gradually, his sincere feelings also become something irreplaceable to Chiko....
