Don't worry it's not a heavy historical drama

I loved it because its based on historical figures but certain parts were quite confused as it leaves a big gap and some historical figure were not included in. I understand that this only be done because its only 46 episodes but I would still watch it if its 100 episodes because I would really love to see Emperor XuanZong transformation. The final episodes has a big gap of him ordered Princess Taiping to be poisoned leaving me confused I hated that because its totally ruin his good personality from the beginning of this story thus my disatisfaction was only left here.
As for Mengfan, I really love her personality and it is a good ending for her to spend the rest of her life out of Palace. I would do the same if I was her too.
Mengfan utmost respect was still with Emperor Wu until the end. Wu zetian indeed an iconic figure in the whole story despite of her evil past.
This history story is a rewatch able series unfortunately most site do not provide English sub for it. I already watched twice. I still suffered the hangover from the ending jump leap from Emperor XuanZong and Princess Taiping

(Mostly) Satisfying Ending

I liked Lui Ting Yu in other roles I've seen her in, but this one was so badly acted...I can't blame her too much, because the way the character was written was so naïve I kept rolling my eyes in exasperation.

It was also frustrating to hear music that had been used in other shows. No alterations - pitch changes, new beats, etc. - were made.

What I did like about this series was the interesting storyline. There were so many twists that, before I knew it, I had watched 4 episodes in a row! (While the series isn't a completely accurate representation, looking up the history about this era *spoil* things.)

And even though I don't have such an immature view of the world to expect "butterflies and rainbows" like the main character, I do appreciate when the bad guys get their due. This series did not disappoint in that way.
