Momotaro must save the life of his brother. The film is an early collaboration of Misumi Kenji and Ichikawa Raizo, who will work together until Ichikawa's death. A ronin walking down Kuramae-dori in Asakusa, wearing a kimono and snow shoes, is an unparalleled sword fighter named Momotaro. Momotaro was a twin of Shinnosuke Wakadono of the Wakagi family, but he was sent to a foster home because of a samurai custom that abhorred twins. In the Wakagi family, taking advantage of Da-dono's illness, Washizuka, the second-in-command, had the conspirator Iga Hankuro devise a plan to depose Shinnosuke and seize control of the clan with his son Mantaro, who was a concubine.
