In the turbulent 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, love was hard to come by. An engagement token, a love song, or a promise were enough to make lovers obsessed. Police officer Fang Dao Long, with his complex identity, meets the enigmatic Chen Yue Rong, and their love story unfolds across three cities. They fell in love in Anhui, were separated in Shanghai, but they still kept a promise to each other and waited for a reunion in Hong Kong. That night, Dao Long waited for the boat carrying Yue Rong to dock on the shore of Hong Kong Island, but unexpectedly, the boat had an accident.
