Apparently anyone can be a hero if you eat the special candy…

In the upcoming series, Detarame Hero, Sato Ryuta plays Kuzumi Kenta, a lowlife moocher who suddenly becomes a hero.

Kenta’s tendency to always do absolutely nothing because he thinks doing anything is troublesome, is a sure sign that he is NOT  a hero. However, upon eating mysterious candy, Kenta discovers that his physical strength and sensory abilities are increased tenfold for exactly ten minutes. When a police officer, his best friend Tanba Shuiji, discovers this ability, Kenta is forced to use his newfound abilities for good.

This series is, of course, a comedy, but watch out! You might just get hit with the “feels” stick, as this series will follow the growth of Kenta, and how he becomes more caring.

Notable cast members include, Tsukamoto TakashiMotokariya Yuika and Koninata Fumiyo.

The series will air on Thursday, April 4th.

Give a guy a bowl and chopsticks, and BAM! Instant manga character...

Based on the manga, Meshibana Keiji Tachibana, Sato Jiro has been confirmed to portray protagonist, Detective Tachibana.

Tachibana loves to eat! In fact, he knows a LOT about food, and his habit of always talking about food is what got him the nickname, "Meshibana." Although his constant talk of food may annoy people--because it makes them hungry--Tachinana's unique knowledge of food allows him to get uncooperative people to open up to him, as he uses food related stories and stories of his experiences with certain restaurants. It's a pretty successful tactic, since it helps Tachibana solve the cases at hand.

The series will premiere April 10th on TV Tokyo.

Matsuda Shota...Back With a Badge!

Just when you think the new year couldn’t get any more awesome…

The ever so sexy Liar Game star, Matsuda Shota, has been confirmed for the lead role in TBS’s upcoming detective series, Sennyuu Tantei Tokage (Private Investigator Tokage), as—of course—Sennyuu Tantei Tokage.

Tokage is a man with an “overwhelming power of memory” and is as meticulous as Sherlock Holmes. Prior to becoming a PI, Tokage was once an elite detective of the Metropolitan Police Department. However, when a fatal mistake cost the life of his partner, he immediately resigned and later joined the private investigation bureau. Although he has a strong sense of justice and will to fight crime, his unapproachable demeanor and inability to trust anyone, makes working with him almost impossible. It is no doubt the result of losing his partner.

The new series will be structured around Tokage and his assistant, played by actress Renbutsu Misako, as they are contracted by the Metropolitan Police Department to help solve difficult and unsolved cases through undercover investigations.

Other stars set to pop up when STT premieres include Matsuoka Masahiro, Mimula, Mitsuru Fukikoshi, Kenichi Endo, and Shiro Ito.

The new series will air Thursday, April 18th.
