JustBruck's Chinese Weekend Movies

For some reason I will occasionally get the craving for some good Chinese movies. I don't know if its the way the Chinese language sounds to my ears or if it is just the difference between them and Korean movies, but I really do enjoy just about everyone that I watch. Here are a few Chinese Romantic Comedy Movies (my bias genre) that I hope you all will enjoy

Country: China                                         Genre: Comedy, Romance                                   Year: 2007

Synopsis: Fatt (Richie Jen) is from a family of martial arts experts, but he ends up being a businessman instead. He intends to introduce his girlfriend (Kate Tsui) to his father (Yuen Wah) but is skeptical if his father can accept her modern ways. Hence, Fatt resorts to hiring a temporary girlfriend to test out his father. Zao (Fan Bing Bing) has just graduated from university and urgently needs money. She takes up the job and signs a contract with Fatt to be his temporary lover. Fatt brings his hired lover home to meet his father, only to expect the unexpected.

The chemistry between the two lead is great!!! The music in this film was great and now that I'm reviewing it, I'm probably going to go look up the soundtrack right now! :) The story is so cute and funny that it gives you a happy-go-lucky feeling.

Country: China                                    Genre: Comedy, Romance, Drama                            Year: 2011

Synopsis:  Xiaoxian’s (Bai Bai He) life is right on track. She has a steady job at an upscale wedding planning company, a cute apartment, and most importantly, a loving boyfriend of 7 years. Any day now, Xiaoxian is sure that he’ll pop the question. But everything comes crashing down when she discovers that he’s actually cheating on her— with her best friend. How could things go so wrong? Dumped and heartbroken, Xiaoxian is a total mess. It doesn’t help that she has to face perky brides every day. Things go from bad to worse until her sassy, but jaded, co-worker Jian (Zhang Wen) intervenes.

I loved how the characters were so quirky, especially the male. The fact that they work in a wedding planning company, drew me to the movie as well. I really like movies that are centered around marriage and weddings. The ending of this movie isn't what you expect to happen, or at least I didn't, but you won't be left disappointed.

Country: China                                         Genre: Comedy Romance                             Year: 2009

Synopsis: Sophie (Ziyi Zhang) is a talented cartoonist who seems to have it all - a successful career, great friends, and the perfect, handsome, fiance, Jeff (So Ji Sub), a surgeon whom her mother adores. So when Jeff is stolen away by Anna (Bing Bing Fan), a beautiful actress, Sophie wants revenge. The first step in her plan, "Sympathy and Understanding," fails, as does the second step, "Nostalgia." Sophie's friends invite her out to a party to cheer her up, but she runs into Jeff and Anna. She also runs into Gordon (Peter Ho), a photographer,  recently dumped by Anna. She quickly elicits his help in her revenge campaign. With Gordon, Sophie continues to implement the other steps of her plan, including "Arousing Jealousy."  But what will happen once Gordon falls in love with her as well? Who should she choose for true love and happiness?

This one, out of the three, is definitely the funniest! The jokes and situations that the characters get themselves into made me laugh really hard! The romantic parts are really sweet as well. Overall this is a great movie!

I hope that this article has helped you and supplies you with some great movies for the weekend!
