On May 8, the production company of the K-drama, Studio Dragon, unveiled behind-the-scenes footage of the recently concluded Queen of Tears. 

Queen of Tears tells the story of Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won), the heiress of the conglomerate Queens Group, and Baek Hyun Woo (Kim Soo Hyun), her husband and the legal director of Queens Group. The K-drama revolves around the couple and the challenges they face in their third year of marriage.  

Queen of Tears aired on tvN, TVING, and Netflix and recently concluded amid soaring popularity. 

Check out some of the interesting facts about the K-drama that reflect the efforts poured into it and its success in numbers.  

1. Kim Ji Won Wore 166 Outfits

The glamorous outfits of Hong Hae In, the CEO of Queens Department Store, were another highlight of Queen of Tears. Actress Kim Ji Won wore a total of 166 outfits, an average of over ten outfits per episode. Talking about her efforts to portray Hong Hae In, Kim Ji Won said at the K-drama's press conference, "I tried to learn about chaebol families and paid a lot of attention to my styling. The staff dressed me up well."


2. Kim Soo Hyun Had 40 Crying Scenes  

According to the source, Kim Soo Hyun had a total of 40 crying scenes, an average of 2.5 scenes per episode, in the K-drama. Scenes such as Baek Hyun Woo's (Kim Soo Hyun) relief and tears upon realizing that Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won) wasn't hurt in the car accident, as well as the promise he made before her surgery to stay by her side when she wakes up, tugged at the viewers' heartstrings. 


3. Queen of Tears Has a Cast of 793 Actors 

Apart from the story and blinding grandeur befitting the luxury of the chaebol family, the numerous characters added to the charm of Queen of Tears. Reportedly, a total of 793 actors were cast for various roles. Undeniably, every actor delivered his best, elevating the drama's quality.  


4. Queen of Tears's Filming Period Spanned 331 Days  

The shooting period of Queen of Tears spanned 331 days, and including the pre-preparation time, the K-drama took about a year and five months, from December 2022 to April 2024, to reach the viewers. The high quality of Queen of Tears was the result of the sweat and effort poured in by all actors and staff members over this extended period. 


5. Queen of Tears Garnered 1.76 Billion Views for its Video Clips 

Queen of Tears garnered about 1.76 billion views across numerous video and social media platforms for all its digital clips combinedStarting from six weeks before the broadcast until recently (15 weeks in total), it consistently attracted an average of over 100 million views per week on its videos. Based on the analysis of TV-OTT drama popularity by Good Data Corporation, Queen of Tears ranked first for eight consecutive weeks during its broadcast period.
