The King. The Emperor. The most important person in the historical drama-land. A leader, dictator and the key for all decision in the kingdom. I watched many historical dramas and I admit that most kings were being manipulated by the council. Even the Empress dowager was a cunning one. It was quite frustrating actually but there are also some great rulers whether they are ruthless sometimes, little by little I understood their predicament and I justified their actions.

P.S.: It is based on the series that I’ve already watched. You can add a comment if you love someone that is not on the list. Enjoy! :)

5. Zhao Zong Quan (The story of Ming Lan) - The Crop Lover Emperor

Although he got a small role, this emperor got a place in my heart because he’s the only ruler that loved to grow crop inside the palace! Amazing right? :) But kidding aside, I love his portrayal as a father and as a ruler. He's also a wise king especially when they created a plan to know who's the wrongdoer that wanted to get his life and throne.

4. Hyun Jong (Horse Doctor) - The Just King

Above all Kings on the list, King Hyun Jong is the kindest. Although it's not about his story, it shows his love for his family and not judging a person just because of what his subjects say. He tried to understand the situation first and he adores any person that has a set of skills even if it is a commoner. He’s not the bravest King in the land but he clearly manages his kingdom with all his might.

3. King/Queen Seon Duk (Queen Seon Duk) - The Benevolent King

I added her because she was the ruler of Silla and a great king in her own way. I followed her journey from being a commoner until she rose beautifully to the throne. She was strong, kind, sometimes ruthless but above all, she genuinely cared for her people, putting her feelings aside for the sake of her people. It’s a girl power indeed.

2. Se Jong (Tree with deep roots) - The Swearing King

Portrayed by the great Han Seok Kyu, this King knows what he wants to be his legacy. It’s not winning a war but helping the next generation by giving the opportunity to educate his people despite their status in life. He knew that he cannot do anything with his power as a prince but once he became King, he pushed it, creating the Korean alphabet for his kingdom despite many villains and political conflicts. He really is a loving King with a purpose.

1.  Ying Zheng (The King’s Woman) - The King of kings

“Even if I am condemned in history, I won’t regret my actions. If war continues to rage on in the world, even more, people will lose their lives.”

Our tyrant but beloved King of Great Qin tops my list. I watched many Kings in the land of Korea and Chinese dramas but he was the only one who exercised his rights as the most powerful person in the nation, not always manipulated by others. Although, I do think every five minutes he wanted to kill someone. :) A wise King indeed and a gorgeous one too. He knew what he needed to do in order to protect his kingdom and himself. Uniting the state and end the war in the future was his mission even if he is remembered as the evil one (I suddenly remember Lelouch). Also, he got this aura of supremacy but soft as a fur to his loved one. He was the saddest king for me. He got the world but... I felt sympathy for him the most.

IT IS SAD, IT IS LONELY. NO ALLIES NOR FRIENDS. FOUR WALLS OF THE PALACE. JUST WANT TO BE FREE. FREE FROM BURDEN AND SUFFERING. JUST LET ME. JUST LET ME.
