Korean films Unofficial Operation and The Moon premiered on August 2nd at the box office in South Korea, securing the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively, on their opening day.

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated computer network for ticket sales, Unofficial Operation attracted an audience of 1,21,993, while The Moon gathered 89,284 cinemagoers. The top spot at the box office was held by Smugglers, which premiered on July 26th, and it retained its place by attracting 1,93,452 cinemagoers on the same day.

Despite the star power, talented directors, and captivating visuals of Unofficial Operation and The Moon, they fell short in claiming the top spot from Smugglers. The fact that both movies opened on the same day created a competitive atmosphere, but with the market not expanding as expected, both new films received underwhelming results as the audience was divided.

Smugglers continues to ride the wave of success, surpassing 2.4 million cumulative viewers. Meanwhile, Unofficial Operation and The Moon are going head-to-head at the box office.
