South Korean cinema's first cheerleading-themed movie Victory has commenced production.
Set in 1999 in Geojae, South Gyeongsang, Victory is a story of a group of girls from the cheerleading club Millennium Girls and their stories and adventures as teenagers. The movie will be directed by Park Bum Soo and casts the singer and actor Lee Hye Ri (whose famous dramas include My Roommate Is a Gumiho and Reply 1988), Park Se Wan (last seen in Alice, the Final Weapon), Choi Ji Su (who has held guest roles in Juvenile Justice, Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist Season 2), and the rising stars Jo Aram, Baek So Hyun, Kwon Yoo Na, Yeom Ji Young, Lee Han Joo, and Park Hyo Eun.
Lee Hye Ri will play the lead role of Pil Sun, who - by chance - joins a cheerleading club with her best friend Mi Na, played by Park Se Wan. The duo will clash with the transfer student from Seoul Se Hyun (Jo Aram).
Although the production of the movie commenced on March 4th, its release date is not yet confirmed. However, it is expected to hit the theatres sometime in 2024.
