"Lovely Runner" Fame Byeon Woo Seok Comes to be Known as a Crybaby

Rising star Byeon Woo Seok has come to be known as a crybaby, and for good reasons. Recently, he was seen shedding tears during his fan meeting in Taiwan.

Byeon Woo Seok is currently on his first Asia tour fan meeting, SUMMER LETTER.

During the fan meeting in Taipei, Taiwan, on June 8, he was deeply moved by a surprise event prepared by the fans and couldn't stop his tears. He kept wiping his tears or turning away to compose himself. Drawing a heart above his head to express his gratitude, he said, "I can't cry. I didn't cry," but added, "I really didn't expect this. I will cherish this memory. Wo ai ni (I love you)," and eventually cried, prompting fans to chant, "Don't cry, don't cry."

Earlier, on June 28, Byeon Woo Seok also made headlines for crying at the group viewing of the final episode of Lovely Runner held at CGV Yongsan in Seoul. During the event also, he shed tears as he seemed overwhelmed with emotions.

Holding the microphone, Byeon Woo Seok immediately became emotional and couldn't continue speaking. The audience shouted, "Don't cry, don't cry." 

Entering a theater with staff members, Byeon Woo Seok struggled to speak from the beginning, trying to hold back his tears.

After regaining his composure, he said, "This theater has the staff who worked on Lovely Runner. I am so grateful for the 10 months of filming, including the 2 months of the broadcast. I really appreciate it. I learned a lot and it was great." He continued to thank the staff and fans for making Lovely Runner a success.

Another time the actor cried was during the filming of the 16th episode of Lovely Runner.

In the final episode, Im Sol's (Kim Hye Yoon) grandmother tells Seon Jae to live a long, happy life. She rubs her hand on his heart and tells him to laugh and love.

In the K-drama, the emotional moment had Seon Jae crying, but the behind-the-scenes story is just as touching. In a making-of video from tvN, it's revealed that Byeon Woo Seok wasn't supposed to cry.

But he kept crying at every take during scene rehearsals. The director decided to keep it, giving viewers a touching moment. But fans speculate Byeon cried due to his personal experience of losing his grandmother.

They speculate that he was reminded of his own grandmother and missed her deeply while filming the scene.

Byeon Woo Seok's affection for his grandmother was evident in an episode of You Quiz on the Block, where he shared that his grandmother was ill and he wanted to nap before visiting her. Unfortunately, she passed away before he could see her, which he described as the biggest regret of his life.

Previously, it was also revealed that the actor cried a lot reading the script of the 16th episode.

Moreover, in a recent interview, he confessed that he can no longer bring himself to read fans' comments. Although he used to read them regularly, the comments these days have left him feeling a certain way. He said, "I'm someone who reads the comments frequently. My company uploaded a video, and I read the comments. They were so nice. As I read each and every one of them, I thought that I needed to do better. There are so many who tell me that even though they were struggling, they were happy because of Seon Jae. Even though I write posts on my fan cafe, I'm unable to read the comments on the posts. I feel like I'd cry if I read them. Once, I uploaded a post and thought to myself, 'I should read the comments when I'm more emotionally stable later on.' My manager told me, 'Hyung, I don't think you should read them now.’ He thought I'd cry."
