"Squid Game" actor Oh Young Soo is the first Korean actor to take home the best supporting actor award at the 79th Golden Globes Awards.

On January 9th, the 79th Golden Globe Awards was held and the winners were announced through their official website and social media platforms. Oh Young Soo was included in the winners of the award-giving body making him the first-ever Korean actor to win an award  individually at the Golden Globe Awards, 

Oh Young Soo was hailed as the Best Supporting Actor in the Television division through his role in the worldwide hit Netflix original series "Squid Game." His skills were recognized after playing as Oh Il Nam and the "No. 001" player. 

He defeated Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass in “The Morning Show,” Kieran Culkin in “Succession,” and Brett Goldstein in “Ted Lasso.”

Oh Young Soo was not the only one who received a nomination from the drama. "Squid Game" was also nominated for  Best Television Series – Drama. Main lead Lee Jung Jae also receive a nomination for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama.

"Squid Game" was released on September 17, 2021, and it became number one on Netflix in different countries for several weeks.  The cast of the drama includes Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon, Wi Ha Joon, Anupam Tripathi, and Oh Young Soo.

"Squid Game" is the latest work of actor Oh Young Soo. The actor hasn't picked his next project yet. 

Oh Young Soo was last seen guesting on the program "Hangout with Yoo" in October 2021. In the program, he shared how his life changed after "Squid Game," why he turned down several advertisement offers, and more.  

Aside from "Squid Game," the actor also participated in several dramas such as "Chocolate," "God of War," "Queen Seon Duk," and "The Return of Iljimae."
