The upcoming Genie TV original drama The Starry Night has confirmed its premiere date for December 23.
The Starry Night follows Kang Su Hyun (Go Hyun Jung), a star producer, who has been fired from her job, and Yoo Jin Woo (Ryeoun), a trainee who underwent idol training for the past 10 years and carries life's burdens on his shoulders.
Veteran actress Go Hyun Jung plays the role of star producer Kang Su Hyun, and the Twinkling Watermelon star Ryeoun comes as the long-time trainee Yoo Jin Wo.
Yoon Sang Hyun plays Sim Jun Seok, Kang Su Hyun's husband and a former music producer, who quit his job to take care of his son after he lost his hearing in a childhood car accident.
Idol and actor Lee Jin Woo plays the couple's son Sim Jin Woo, a character with hearing impairment. During the script reading, the actor stayed true to the character's unique communication style by reading his co-stars' lip movements and delivering his lines in sync.
The synergy between Go Hyun Jung and Ryeoun, portraying mentor and mentee with different goals yet walking on the same path, was especially captivating. Additionally, the interplay between Go Hyun Jung, Yoon Sang Hyun, and Lee Jin Woo as a family with each member pursuing a different dream brought humor and heartfelt moments during the session.
With the script reading showcasing the actors' synergy and attention to detail, The Starry Night is kicking off its journey with great momentum. Just like the meeting of desert and sea (Namib — Korean title of the K-drama), the beautiful harmony created by these four actors is all the more anticipated.
The Starry Night will premiere on December 23. More news about the K-drama's global OTT platform is yet to come.
