Soulmate, starring Kim Da Mi, Jeon So Nee, and Byun Woo Suk, accomplished the feat of pre-sale in 18 countries around the world, including the United States, Japan, and Singapore.
It is scheduled to be released in Indonesia on March 22, in Hong Kong on March 23 , and on March 24 in the US, Vietnam and Taiwan.
In South Korea, the movie hit the theatres on March 15 and ranked second among the box office releases. The film attracted 20,239 cinemagoers on the day of its release and also won favourable reviews from international movie distributors.
A Hong Kong distributor said, "The days of Soulmate, drawn with laughter, tears and friendship, are the times we all went through. This beautifully crafted work is a must-see emotional film to be viewed in theatres this spring". A representative from a Vietnamese distributor company praised the film, saying, "This is a must-see film with great casting," and a representative from a Taiwanese distributor company said, "It is one of the must-see Korean films this year".
Soulmate is the story of two women, Ahn Mi So (Kim Da Mi) and Ha Eun (Jeon So Nee), who met and befriended each other when they were just girls of 13. They first experience discord when they both fall for their classmate Jin Woo (Byun Woo Suk). The two, after 14 years look back on all the ups and downs their friendship went through.
Soulmate is adapted from a 2016 Chinese movie of the same name.
Min Yong Keun is credited for penning the screenplay and directing the film.
